Wife: How do they almost beat Pats, get killed by Skins?

Eric from BBI : Admin : 11/30/2015 8:50 am
Anyone have any answers?

This wasn't a trap game. This was the most important game this team has played this late in the season in three years. That effort was pathetic. Shame on the entire franchise.

Still mumbling to myself, "I'm tired of this sh*t" this morning.

Ughhhhhh.....

Butterfly effect
jcn56 : 11/30/2015 8:52 am : link
Chaos theory at work - nonlinear system with unpredictable (and typically wildly varying) outputs after small changes to the input.

In this case - take 3 Giants linemen on a line already modified by injury, and take them out one by one. Then, the QB loses all faith in his protection and starts making bad throws. Combined with the fact that there's a matchup problem to begin with (the Skins having a good DL) and the offense goes downhill.

Defense is the weaker unit, can't hold up to being on the field as much, it gets dinged up in the process (DRC missing a key series) and that's that.
Agreed 100%

the piss poor effort is what really makes this one sting.

I did the same as you. Walked into the kitchen this morning and said to my wife, "I can't believe they played that shitty". Her response "you're still not over that?"

Unexplainable. Unfortunately, we've seen several performances like this under the TC era. The 2 titles will last my lifetime, so I tend to take the bad with the good.

But man, this team is frustrating.

This is BS, and the more you repeat it the worse you sound.
My wife was whining with questions throughout the game
gidiefor : Mod : 11/30/2015 8:59 am : link
and I didn't have a lot of good answers --

A few of them were about why Washington was playing so dirty.
IMO Washington took a lot of "good" penalties on Beckham yesterday -- two of them (the facemask on the sideline and the horse-collar midfield) took away sure Beckham touchdowns.
Pats were bangged up and I'm sure we didn't get their A-game
UberAlias : 11/30/2015 9:00 am : link
The D played okay outside of the big play to Jackson where they took advantage of DRC being out and the offense was about the O-Line.
The team 1) isnt motivated by coaches
Bold Ruler : Mod : 11/30/2015 9:00 am : link
2) doesn't have enough or any leaders on the field
3) this team is soft and they lack balls. They aren't hungry.

This is a team that is totally fucked from top to bottom. A GM that assembles an injury prone and not very talented roster. Players don't really care when Washington smacks them in the mouth. Coaches didn't have this team ready to play. DRC goes out and then next offensive play is soooo obvious they would throw it deep against the scrub Reese has as his back up. But we totally didn't see it coming.

McAdoo's offense is really uninspiring. We are a mess. I mean, I've used this before but to quote Ed Harris (Gene Cernan in Apollo 13 "What on the spacecraft is good?" On this team, we have a QB and a WR.

lol. yeah we are loaded with talent. how we aren't SB Champs every year is mystifying.

we have a qb, wr, 2 corners, and a 9 finger DE. loaded with talent.

I don't discount this as affecting the outcome of the game. but the giants players heads were not in the game.

Eil forcing throws early ?
Randle ?
Vereen ?
DRC drop int ?

2/4 of these gets the win. They were just not in it and its not the first time they have come out flat in a game like this.

Defense is the weaker unit, can't hold up to being on the field as much, it gets dinged up in the process (DRC missing a key series) and that's that.
Get over the fact that Eli played shitty yesterday too, will you?

He's human - his protection was garbage, and it happens.

We played the Pats to a draw (and should have won, minus the BS no-TD call on OBJ). We didn't lose yesterday because we didn't have the guns.

given the OL limitations.
the issue is that played into Washingtons hands.
as a west coast team we needed to use the passing game earlier to set up better risk reward.

its also the little things
- before the first INT we got a useless delay of game making it 3rd and 12.
- before the 2nd INT we ran to AW44 twice... did we expect good results? and forces 3rd and long.
- snapping the ball with 1 second on the playclock on the road is a RECIPE FOR DISASTER... I don't blame newhouse for getting beat on some of these... the D is getting a head start.

Anyway, i don't disagree with your assessments but there were key mistakes made by players randle, eli, vereen that cost the game.

Their heads are not in this thing at all an its shameful.

ummm I don't know what your blabbing about, but the point remains and it has for years.... we aren't talented. I don't know how you sit there and think we should routinely beat teams with 3rd string MLB, journey OL, 5th and 6th string safeties. UDFA tight ends.

but carry on.

I don't disagree that they made a number of boneheaded mistakes - but that's part of that problem. Things start to snowball - starts with the issues up front, expands into bad throws, bad drops, then the D trying too hard (DRC was thinking 6 on that play, when he should have been thinking 'hold on to the damn ball').

I don't think it's all mental though - there was a clear matchup problem as a result of injuries, but they let it get into their heads and things started to roll downhill from there.
This is..
FatMan in Charlotte : 11/30/2015 9:10 am : link
the reality for nearly every team in the NFL outside of the top three and bottom three.

Why is Atlanta in a free fall? Why is KC suddenly surging? Why do the Packers take it to Minny and then lose to the Bears? Why does Seattle sleepwalk through 5 games but come back and beat PIT? Why do the Bills play teams tough each week, but lose to bottom feeders? How do the Eagles keep it close against the Panthers and get their doors blown off by TB and Miami?

When you have a mediocre middle littered with teams who have to deal with significant injuries and half of their starters being backup quality, this will happen. It isn't unique to the Giants.

No, he's got more than one WR to throw to, even if you discard Randle. His line was bad yesterday, but even when he had time he made some extremely shitty throws.

Only on planet 'Eli Can Do No Wrong' is it impossible for the guy to ever have a bad game. Unfortunately for dep and the Giants, this is Earth.
We didn't get killed by the skins.

Yes they dominated our offense; we were down three starting linemen. That is 60% of our O-line. That is why they beat us. And we almost scratched out a win at the very end.
The last time we played games that meant something

was 2012 and we coughed up 2 vs the Falcons and Ravens and blew the division and playoffs

so , it's been since 2011 when we WON a big game? Holy hell...

for whatever reason - staff/players/etc... we can't win when it matters...

This is the personality of this team. I was completely expecting this team to shit the bed yesterday. After a bye, a big game that decides their season. I was completely expecting this team to come out flat and they did. Same ol' Giants and unfortunately this won't change unless the regime changes.

what the fuck is your problem dude? Did I even say he played well. Get a fucking grip asshole. This team lacks talent. And when you lack talent, your play will vary from week to week. It has nothing to do with how Eli plays or how he played. You turned my line of saying this team lacks talent to Eli does no wrong.

Shit gets old dude. Find some new material. You clearly are showing you have nothing to add to this thread other than to be a shit stirrer. Grow up already.
Same thing I was wondering while watching it
illmatic : 11/30/2015 9:25 am : link
You could say the injuries on the OL affected them compared to the last game but they got guys like Prince back for this game so the defense was stronger than it was before. They added Nicks for better depth. Overall, the roster talent level didn't have a big drop off. Plus the players seemed to come out with no energy compared to the Redskins who were amped up and even OBJ admitted it. That's unacceptable and makes it look like a coaching issue if you can't get your players ready to play in a huge game like this. I know players should always be ready for every game in their NFL career but that's not always how it works. Things aren't always that easy. And if you have to give them a kick in the ass, you should.

The team cannot figure out how to

have a winning record in the division. Even when the Eagles flat out stink, they cannot beat them twice in a season. They can beat the Redskins like a drum when all that is on the line is a lower draft pick but if the division is on the line they play like they did yesterday. They also cannot beat the Cowboys with any consistency. I believe 10-13 in the division since the Superbowl win.

This is the kind of game the Giants OFTEN lose. I hoped for the best, but I SO expected this.

Call it post-bye, call it a trap game -- whatever? Whenever the Giants are in one of these all they gotta do to right the ship and control their own destiny is WIN this very winnable game situations -- and everyone picks them to win -- they come out flat and don't show up.

Yeah, the injuries are a big factor, but the sad truth is that the 2015 Giants are just not a very good team, and they have been exceedingly unlucky as well. But good teams make their own luck and find ways to win. Bad teams find ways to lose. And this is a bad team. Has been since training camp. The only reason they are still in it at all is because Romo and Bryant have been hurt all year as well.

And they still can't cover DeSean Jackson and never will.

things before this team shows what they really are...which is a woefully undertalented team that does not seem to possess any mental toughness or leadership.

I find it amazing we do so well on offense considering we have only one guy who makes plays. Reuben Randle is a disaster...his consistent failure to compete, game in and game out, makes me wonder why he is even out there. Unless Eli throws it right in his hands, it is either incomplete or picked off. He is absolutely no help to OBJ. We have no running game, no TE to speak of and really no slot receiver. How OBJ continues to put up the stats is a credit to his talent and work ethic.

On defense, we have nothing...no pass rush, a mediocre run defense, safeties who are ridiculously bad.

I think the only reason we are competing at all is we have a coaching staff that is coaching their butts off. The injuries haven't helped but our depth is pitiful.

And, quite frankly, this is what bad teams do...they will compete sometimes against a high ranked team but then pull stinkers against very weak teams.
I like hitdogs post
