have zero road wins. SOmething tells me that willnot be running the table.
I think if the O line is not destroyed by injury and ineptitude, the Giants have the best chance to come out of this sorry group.
if the o-line is toast? So is the season, we have seen the putrid o line movie before in 2013 (still get chills) and 2014.
I will say yes, this thoroughly mediocre, frustrating group will win the NFC title and get a home playoff game. Crazy thing is, I doubt any wild card team would want to play the Giants.
is a must win game.....for the Giants to win the division, they have to take care of business and hope other teams lose....we were a better team in 2012....same situation....how did that work out?

Skins not Skink, so many typos when using my smartphone
There's a reason no team, including the Giants, has ever done anything like 2011 before or since - it was a massive fluke. Betting on lightning striking twice like that is ridiculous.
and the Bills at home, so I would flip those 2 - A DC loss in Philly, and a win v Buffalo. I'm just not sure I see them losing to Matt Cassel, regardless of where they play.
Either way, it will probably come down to the last game of the year. Although I think we'll give Carolina a game. Don't ask me why. And I think Spags can figure out a way to take Peterson out of the Vikings game, and make Bridgewater beat us.
The 2013 Giants have OBJ, Sucko Randle, and Dwayne Harris. Notice a slight difference in quality? Oh, and Ballard instead of Will Tye or whatever waste of a uniform they're putting at TE the rest of the season.
The difference between a W and an L yesterday was a 2-game shift and possibly 2.5 game difference if it impacts tie breaker. The Romo injury makes their SOS a lot easier than NYG, so I would say this odds are against it.

this is not 2007. this is not 2011. this is 2013-2014.
Everybody is counting on us beating the Jets and the Dolphins. I have no idea why. Both teams have formidable defensive fronts, and we are weak on the OL. That is not the proverbial recipe for success. Beating the Eagles at home in Week 17 is the only game I'm confident they'll win.
RE: I'd say no because of injuries and propensity Â

I think people have a different perception of 2011 team because of what they did....
They were the definition of a mediocre football team that year...eli carried that team to 9 wins...they had an awful running game and an awful defense...
they were lucky to make the playoffs that year...
Oh and they got killed by a terrible redskins team late in the season at home no less...
I said they are not running away with it...in 2 weeks we could be having a different conversation..
and again i hate to keep harping on it but 2011 i bet you were saying the Giants had no chance of winning the division after losing to the Skins at home...

i know the 2011 giants,the 2011 giants are a friend of mine,the 2015 giants are not the 2011 giants.
Yesterday exposed them as a different kind of team. I think they've given up too much, have too many key injuries, and still have a tough schedule ahead of them.
Now, even the Jets are contending for a playoff spot, and will make that game tougher.
Yes because the 2011 giants were such a juggernaut Â
barely made the playoffs, worst rushing attack in the league and worst defense in the league but yes they were a great team...
I am sur ein 2011 after the redskins game you were saying this team is great and going to win a SB...
guarantee whichever handle you were posting with at the time said this team is awful and going nowhere and even if they make the playoffs they are not winning anything...
Who this team is seems to reset almost weekly. They play inspired football for 3 quarters, and collapse in the 4th. The play atrociously for 3 quarters and then show some life in the 4th. They play well against an undefeated team in a game they can afford to lose, and then roll over and die for a division foe in a game that means everything.
This team could go 5-0 or 0-5 down the stretch. You have to tune in week to week to find out who this team is.
can we stop clinging to 2011 as if it were our woobie? Â

This pretty much sums it up. Seems to be a trend league wide, but this is what the Giants are.
There's a reason no team, including the Giants, has ever done anything like 2011 before or since - it was a massive fluke. Betting on lightning striking twice like that is ridiculous.
You mean 2012 packers didn't???
I dont follow. What does a 2012, 11-5 Green Bay Packers team that lost in San Francisco have to do with anything?
If you are referring to their superbowl - in 2010 - they went 10-6 that year, finished as 2nd wild card, and went on a run in the playoffs, also benefiting from Jay Cutler's first half injury in the NFCCG.
I fail to see a connection. Greg is right - i doubt we'll see a team with a NEGATIVE points for/against in a regular season ever win a SB again in our lifetimes. Arizona did come close in 2008 but close dont count.
Your predictions are pretty good, except Giants have proven beyond a shadow of doubt that they can not beat Philly, so swap the wins/losses for Philly and Minny.
We have to beat Minneapolis.
Jets, fins, and Vikes. That should be good enough. I would put our chances around 70 percent on getting in with that record.
If the Giants can get a couple relatively healthy Â
guys up front on offense ... and then, if we start to catch a break here or there (none of the tipped balls went our way yesterday and that REALLY could be categorized as the difference) ... then yes.
I see 4 of those games as winnable, with another O-lineman or two in place, and our TEs not dropping footballs throws precisely into their bread baskets!
to another. Only that sometimes a result doesn't shape things perfectly. In 2007 Ely had 4 INTs and a 33.8 QBR and the Giants were destroyed by the Vikings. Things went all right later.
If any of us has learned anything, this is all week to week, and with the team ties with Washington in first, this season is no different. Folks just giving up any hope have far too short memories.
Hahahahahahahaha. Oh man. Every week there is some type of BS excuse on here after every loss to some awful team.
My only point in bringing up 2011 is, did you think the Giants in 11 after losing to the Redskins at home could win a SB??
That is my only point, i am not saying this team can win SB, i am simply saying that the season is not over...
No. But that doesn't matter in 2015. Different teams, different opponents, different situations. And win a SB? Who the hell thinks they are going to win a SB? Let's try to make the playoffs first, which is far from a given at this point,
is to say it hinges on whether or not our offensive line gets healthy.
But I'll take the more fun route today :)
Yes, I think we wind up winning the division. As much as football is a team game, more often than some would like to admit, it simply comes down to who has the best quarterback. In past years you could argue that Tony Romo is better than Eli Manning (yeah yeah, Eli two rings, yada yada.. point is it's a fair conversation).
But there's no debate this year. Eli Manning >>> Kurt Cousins, Sanchize/Bradford, Matt Cassel.
We have the best QB in the division by a wide margin and I think we take the division.
the Redskins have a better chance of losing to the Cowboys this week then they do week 17. Right now the Cowboys actually believe they have a shot being only 2 games back. By week 17, they will be done and will have their bags packed.
Realistically the Giants were not supposed to be a contender this year. They have had only one blowout. They are 5-6 be happy with that and hope we hit big in the draft next year, Some people on this site think we are going to go on some magical run, This team does not have near the talent of the 2011 SB team.

They are 5-6 be happy with that and hope we hit big in the draft next year, Some people on this site think we are going to go on somw magical run, This team does not have near the talent of the 2011 SB team.
And in Eli/Tom/Jerry's legacy, this glaring deficiency is every bit as salient as the two wonderful Super Bowl trophies which we all enjoyed enormously.
Not 2 players. This team is done. Even if they went on an insanely impossible run the Redskins schedule is begging for them to win out if they can get going.
they have lost too many games and too many starters due to injury.
Even if they had won some of the games they lost in the last few minutes, they've lost too many players to injury to have a fair shot at beating either or both Carolina & Arizona.
I was a half full guy with all of the talk about games we should have won but the reverse is just as true and since it is true then you would have to say those games we barely lost were still losses because we aren't very good.
Look at the 49ers game. We could have and probably should have lost that game. Then the second Dallas game was also barely a win for us at home against the Boys 3rd QB of the season. The first Washington game might have been closer and possibly going the other way if Cousins hadn't played so poorly.
So while we can say we should have won against the Boys, Saints and possibly the Pats, we could also have lost two more games than we have now which means we could be a 3 win team right now. The Giants are what their record says they are, a very average team with many flaws. Injuries are mounting and we have no help on the horizon.
Pugh and Richburg back this week? If the answer is no, then my answer is no. Giants need to win this game and hope for a Redskins and Philly loss this week. New England should win that game but they have truly been decimated by injuries. Really sucks we have to wait until Monday night to watch the Dallas/Washington game. I have hope for that. Washington was only able to put up 20 points on our terrible defense after we gave them the ball back 3 times. Dallas defense actually has a pass rush and lets hope the Dallas offense does enough.
the Redskins have a better chance of losing to the Cowboys this week then they do week 17. Right now the Cowboys actually believe they have a shot being only 2 games back. By week 17, they will be done and will have their bags packed.
True, but what if they can play the spoiler role and knock Washington out of the playoffs in week 17? Both games are early Sunday. If it comes to that will be nice having Philly at home and Washington being on the road.
We have a totally patchwork OL and a porous DL.In addition a group of players who cannot get up for 1st place showdown(Redskins. With great dismay I see us losing out.Jets are better right now,Miami is home.Carolina and Minnesota, need I say more.Philly-you saw last game.
The one caveat I would have is If the Jints can somehow rise up and beat the Jets, they could very well beat Miami, still lose to Minny and Carolina, but recover for a win against the Igggles.
So,by my estimation,it comes down to the Jet game.Go Giants!!!
In 2011 , Giants were struggling and it didn't look like they were even going to make the playoffs .. The Giants play the Jets and are in a must win situation
The Giants come out flat and are down early - the ball is on the 1 yard line , it is 3rd down . Eli goes back to pass and finds Cruz who makes catch and then makes insane move to make 2 Jets miss.. Cruz is gone down the sideline
99 yards.. The whole spirit of the team changes and from that moment on , their Super Bowl drive starts
Fast forward to last week .. Giants are down 20 - 0 But start to come back. Eli hits Randle to TD on 4th down .. 20-7 -- then Giatns get the ball back
Eli goes back to pass and finds OBJ who makes one of the most spectacular TD catches I have ever seen. This brings the Giants 20 -14 ..
from past history you would think This Spectacular Catch would spark the Defense and the Team to start their playoff run but no .. defense lays an egg and lets Washington run down the field until there is no time left to mount a comeback.
Just don't think this year Giants have the players to make a run like they did in 2011
But I have zero confidence.
I think if the O line is not destroyed by injury and ineptitude, the Giants have the best chance to come out of this sorry group.

With this defense? I'm sure they would be shaking in their boots.....and of course, we all know the offense will show up....
My enthusiasm for this product is waning with each passing year.
You could say the same thing in 11...Just saying...
No this team is not winning a SB but people said the exact same thing after the Redskins game in 11
Seriously? Of course it matters..That's why we're Giants' fans..We don't know WHO we'll be after the next 5 games
Either way, it will probably come down to the last game of the year. Although I think we'll give Carolina a game. Don't ask me why. And I think Spags can figure out a way to take Peterson out of the Vikings game, and make Bridgewater beat us.
but we beat the Panthers and Vikings and lose to the Dolphins and Eagles.
Redskins won't beat the Cowboys.
As long as we aren't supposed to win any games, we'll be fine.
As long as we aren't supposed to win any games, we'll be fine.
I don't know if I should laugh or cry about that. It's so sad how often the Giants play up or down to their competition.
You mean 2012 packers didn't???
The redskins win 3 maybe 4.
and JPP playing at all-world levels...with 10 fingers.
this is not 2007. this is not 2011. this is 2013-2014.
I don't think we beat the Jets next week especially if the OL is 3/5 short of a functioning unit.
Plus, who knows? They may take their opponents "For granted" or "sleepwalk" through some games.

Giants beat Jets Dolphins and Eagles they win the division...

by logic, I'm not superstitious, but I do have an irrational belief that when I start thinking positively, the Giants do worse.
I can't control the giants season, but I don't think they win enough games to take the division.
I picked 4 wins for the year. They're one over. Don't think they win more than 2 more.
This will go down as another year that could have been.
