Reuben Randle wants to return in '16.

SanFranNowNCGiantsFan : 1/1/2016 10:26 am
I know 'What do you expect him to say?', but I was really hoping for 'I've caused too many headaches for Giant fans and it's time for me to go torture an other franchise.'

I won't even get into guys like prince who can't stay on the field and only hang around because of potental or hey hes good when he is healthy but thats only 4 games a year.

losers need to go.
Take Jerry with you too.

Hellzzzz no. There are many better options available on the open market than a lazy player with creaky knees and no explosion to his game.

I disagree about Newhouse he was supposed to be a backup until Beatty got hurt. Anybody who knows what they are seeing knows while at times he's had problems for the most part he filled in admirably. I would definitely replace him asa starter but I'd keep him as his intended role a backup
These players are
Gman11 : 1/1/2016 11:06 am : link
coach killers. When you draft them you see what they did in college and it makes you think they will do wondrous things in the NFL. Then, you see his skill set in practice and you think he can be something special. Then they get at this level and don't perform. It makes coaches pull their hair out and eventually bring them down because they think suddenly the light will come on and he'll play up to his abilities and it never happens.
seriously if I have to spend another year
Stu11 : 1/1/2016 11:06 am : link
watching this guy quit on routes when he's not trying to loop around the corner on a slant, as well as watch Andre Williams run into the Center's ass 5 times every game I just might not make it.
Had really high hopes for him coming into this year
SLIM_ : 1/1/2016 11:11 am : link
and was one of the guys that I thought that smart GM's would try to lock up early. I'll admit defeat on this one. He's a coach killer and unfortunately Coughlin may be the victim.

If he's willing to sign a one year minimum deal...

It might help motivate the rookies during training camp to see that that could be them in four years if they don't work hard.

Some of that is drafting guys who are 20-year old underclassmen, and hoping to coach them up. Either we do and then let them go (e.g., Joseph) or they never get there, like Randle.

I like you '56, but the Giants cannot rely on Cruz to be a #2 WR next year. They need to sign someone, sure, but someone better than Randle.

Beckham
FA (Marvin Jones, Mohamed Sanu, Travis Benjamin, Jermaine Kearse, good possibilities)
Cruz
Harris
Davis, Edwards, and others competing for backup roles and ST or return ability.

One of the biggest mistakes TC and the FO did this year was not signing someone earlier on in the season to aid the offense when Cruz was ailing with his calf. They tried with Randle and Preston Parker. Oof.

What makes you think that his "chronic" knee condition (which usually means cartilage damage) is going to get any better?

These things only get worse with time, not better.

to compliment OBJ or he will get the same treatment from defenses that ruined Cruz when he lost Nicks. Defenses will knock the shit out of OBJ in every game with late hits and double teams , if he is alone out there. Randle is no bargain, but do you trust Reese and Ross to do better in the draft this time beyond using our 1st round pick again.? The real solution is to shake up the front office with a new talent evaluator. Not named Reese, Ross. Coughlin or Mara. They all have some value to the team but identifying talent for our team and its schemes is not one of them. Right TC is guilty as well. Fix it now. Thats my rant for the day. Happy New Year.
I think the Giants should make Marvin jones a big priority
djm : 1/1/2016 12:37 pm : link
This coming offseason. He's shown more in the 3 years he's played save for 2014 when he was hurt and the bengals just might let him walk and allocate their funds elsewhere, which may not be a stupid decision with all the talent they've amassed. Jones scores tds via the YAC and long ball. He's everything this offense needs.

Jones is a better player than Randle from what I have seen seen and he's everything the Giants look for in a UFA. He's produced but not a megastar yet so the contract while pricey should be manageable and it would be his second contract. It makes so much sense it's scary.

You misread. I said if it's a chronic knee or just an inflammatory process that will improve with time, the Giants will determine that..Who would want a player with a chronic knee?

Coleslaw instead of sauerkraut, 1000 island instead of Russian dressing, swiss cheese, a good rye bread, and corned beef....grilled.....have a sweet tooth.....

As for mister Randle, he makes too many mistakes on third down, and just doesn't fight for the ball.....anything he says, is just a backup plan if there isn't a deal out there in free agency for him.....
No, No, No!
redwhiteandbigblue : 1/1/2016 1:58 pm : link
Not even on the practice squad. Making him a @3 or #4 won't change his laziness and lack of ability. NO!
When they drafted Reuben I thought he'd be a great replacement for
Larry in Pencilvania : 1/1/2016 2:09 pm : link
Mario Manningham. The kind of receiver who would say be the #3 but could fill in #2 or even # 1
Argh accidentally hit submit
Larry in Pencilvania : 1/1/2016 2:13 pm : link
And would provide 700 to 900 yard in receiving and maybe five or six touchdowns. While Randle and Manningham have 10 cent heads, Rueben Randle has no desire or passion for the game like Manningham. Just watch Manningham in the NFC Championship and the Super Bowl.

Randle needs to be purged from this roster
I've thought of Randle as being just short of Mario,
SB 42 and 46 and ? : 1/1/2016 2:26 pm : link
with some possible upside since he's only 24. You don't hear his name called for two thirds of a quarter, and then Manning finds him in the end zone on third and goal He has seven touchdowns catches.

He's a good enough third receiver. We have more important holes in the roster to fill.

And how do you how he's running routes if you're watching games on TV? Usually they only show the route the receiver ran if he catches a pass, and sometimes not even then.
I will be furious

redwhiteandbigblue : 1/1/2016 2:34 pm : link
used to play a little WR way back when and trust me, he cuts off routes and others he rounds off all the time. What you don't see on TV is Eli's disgust after plays, or the coaches getting in Randles grill when he comes off the field. Randle is one of the worst route runners I have seen in a Giants uniform in 25 years. Time to cut bait.
Reading these negative posts
TMS : 1/1/2016 2:56 pm : link
about RR seem to indicate he is lazy and unmotivated milking the system for salary. Many of our Draftees and FA guys have been the same. Thats why we need change in the front office. Someone who can make better choices in this area, even if the MEASURABLEs are not there, We do not need lazy unmotivated ATHLETES who do not belong in the NFL. Reese and Ross have been great at getting bullshitted by these guys.
why wouldn't he want to return?
SHO'NUFF : 1/1/2016 2:56 pm : link

I guess you slept in when Parcels coached the Gmen, cuz Randle would have been BP's #1 WR most seasons. Or maybe you weren't born yet by 1986?

Here's an exercise for you: find 2 different WRs during Parcels' tenure that posted better stats than Randle in 2014... Then do the same for 2015 after tomorrow's game.

Linval Joseph produced! Should've found a way to keep him paired with Hankins, but Reese thought differently!

Randle has by his numbers produced, but in the overall scheme he's hurt this team more than helped! Time for him to go!

No I didn't sleep you insult me with this
How about parcels cutting Manuel for attitude.
Guys like bobby Johnson run off.
The offense that parcels ran was ball control and if a WR dropped a ball
Or quit on a route they were gone. Stacy Robinson?
Early parcels got rid of Gray and Perkins both problems.
I have been rolling this team since the 70s
It's fans who put up with these losing players is the problem
Randle would not be on most NFL teams with his track record.
If he wasn't drafted he would be long gone instead of Reese's hope for a 2012 draft that would have got most GMs fired.
Here is an exercise for you

Usually are the ones that should be let go. If they were such an asset they wouldn't need to state it. JPP stated he wants to stay as well. No thanks. If Randle stays, as soon as a WR gets hurt he moves up the depth chart and we will see more drops and half run routes. Time to move on.

Amen.

I'm for cleaning house if in fact TC retires on Monday. I say get a new GM and promote Spags for a 2 year deal. Keep the offense in place and get the few missing pieces needed for the offense to truly be top notch: OL, TE, WR #2 and a RB cause Jennings is 31 and likely done. Not many RB's have productive carries at age 31+.

The defense is a given for cleaning house: DT Jenkins, DE Ayers, LB Beason, S Meriweather, LB Herlich all won't be back. I think we use FA money to plug holes with affordable guys. I don't want just 2 big name pickups cause more often than not FA's get big money and take it easy after...why work hard...I'm paid. It is what it is.

Rebuild via draft. The key will be how our young safeties develop and/or come back from injury. The other key is how our young DL's do, including those we draft this year. I think we go DL round #1 or OL.

I don't want Randle back but only because there are whispers his knees are bad AND he clearly doesn't work hard enough to perfect his craft.

It's easy to get open for an occasional TD when the opposing defense disrespects you. How many drives has he killed?
