That 00 game was a complete domination but loses some value because of how we got our asses kicked in the Super Bowl. I know it shouldn't matter how we played in the super bowl after beating Minnesota but they are connected.
The 07 game was classic with the temperatures, Plax dominating, TC's face, going to OT, and beating Favre in Lambeau. It was a classic game.
However, I vote for 11. Our defense played like shit all year but stepped it up for like 4 weeks or so. Our OL sucked all year but stepped it up for 4 weeks or so. Eli took a beating. I have never been so nervous watching a game before. That game was coming down to who protected the ball better. Nobody was doing anything offensively. It was a classic defensive struggle in an age of offensive production. The hits in that game were awesome. It took a complete team effort. I still remember that Bradshaw fumble that wasn't called because of forward progress. I felt that call could have went either way. It was an intense game all around and even my wife said she never saw me that nervous ever.
was probably the best football game I have ever seen. with that being said...07 was pretty special too. in 11 for some reason I was pretty confident going into that game.

Even if you were pretty confident going into the game there is no way you could have been confident with Eli taking that beating.
I was in 331 back then, too! Row 23, seat #1. What a wild scene. The wind, the confetti. Wow, I could have stayed there all night after the game. What a party!

you are so right...he took a SERIOUS beating..and I did wonder..but for some reason remained confident they would pull it out..and of course they did. Eli didn't have anything to prove to me, but that day I think he won over a few people who admired his grit and toughness!
The first is always special, especially at home but I expected the Giants to win. The 1990 game in S.F. was the greatest football game I have ever went to. Just look at the rosters from both teams,so many great players, the hitting was incredible and the way the game unfolded was surprising to say the least. You could hear a pin drop in Candlestick when Bahr's field goal went through. This to me,was the greatest Giant Championship game.
and 2007 because it was said that no one could beat the Pack when they were at home in the playoffs. It was the worst weather possible, yet we won out. And I loved the way Plax dominated Al Harris.
I felt confident going into the games in '86, '00, and '11. Was abroad in '91, and didn't have access to games (pre-interwebs).
But 2007/08 was a stunner - and was one of the single greatest games I've ever seen. Both teams played well in horrible conditions, and we won it on guts and cojones. I rate it just a notch above the game we played two weeks later.
1986 will always be special but I think my favorite is the 2007 game in Green Bay. So many great story lines in that game and a dominating game by Plax. 2011 is up there as well.
would have to say the Washington game. Giants Stadium, the winds, the rivalry, the wait, LT, the crowd noise, THAT Defense.
Good-bye Allie, Norm Snead, Rocky Thompson, the Yale Bowl, Bill Arnsparger, Craig Morton, The Fumble and so much more were all fresh in everyone's minds. That game, oh that game, the Giants were finally in the same league as Dallas, Pittsburgh, Oakland and Miami. No more laughing stocks of the NFL and sports world.
On the floor squirming the whole game. Stopped the 3peat, defensive miracle at the end with LT. Both teams, all fans, praying, and screaming at the end.
all were special and 3 of them were decided on last play.
'90 - beating 4-time SB champs in their backyard on last play of game.
'07 - OT thriller on the frozen tundra
'00 - basically a 3 hour celebration
'86 - the first one
'11 - says something that an OT thriller comes in at #5. We have been blessed as a fan base since '86 no matter what happened in the 70's or no matter what the next couple of years holds.
I had some major surgery in October that required me to have an illostomy bag for a few months. The surgery to remove it and put my insides back together was the day after the game. I had to watch this incredibly intense game with no food or beer. My kids and I went nuts when they won.
Next day the surgeon is about to me under and I say, "hey the Giants are in the super bowl. Get me through this so I can watch them win."
He says, "I'm a Patriots fan. Take a deep breath." That's the last thing I heard as I went under. Doc told me the next day he was kidding. Didn't even like football.
Was at that game in SF. Just an incredible feeling walking out of that stadium after putting up with so many cocky and over confident niner fans. Even up to last drive.
1986 will always be special but I think my favorite is the 2007 game in Green Bay. So many great story lines in that game and a dominating game by Plax. 2011 is up there as well.
This. If you remember those really awful years, then 1986 is special -- until that day, we didn't know if we'd ever see the Giants in a Super Bowl. Since then, we all know it's possible, and it's actually happened fairly often.
On the other hand, the only thing I remember from that game is Jim Burt throwing Gatorade into the stands.
1990 and 2007 are about tied, in my view. So many remarkable plays in the 1990 game, especially Marshall's hit on Montana. The 2007 game was just freakish, in so many ways. A game where the Packers should have had a massive home field advantage, but the Giants won anyway. And the Giants' playoff run that year was so unexpected, which elevates those games.
2011 was a great game but we already knew the Giants were capable of making that kind of a run, so it wasn't the oh-my-God moment that the 2007 game was.
things about '90 is that it had all the hallmarks of a game that the Giants were just not destined to win. The Carthon drop, the Walls fail on the Taylor TD, driving the ball but unable to score TD's. The great fake punt that still only netted a FG. We outplayed them that day but it just seemed like it wasn't meant to be. A bit like the Flipper game. Was just so frustrated as the 49ers were running the clock down. And then the ball came out.
The 1990 game was off the charts exciting, the 2000 game was totally surprising and a terrific blowout, the 2007 game in the cold at Green Bay was as good as they get and the 2011 game in San Francisco might have been the best battle on a football field thatI have ever witnessed.
The 1986 game vs the Washington DC ball club was just satisfying but not a very good game in terms of excitement. It did satisfy the yearning for a championship after all those years of subpar performance, but as a game it just doesn't mach up to the other four.
Best football game I ever saw. The regular season game at Candlestick was a close second. Those teams, the talent on the field and the coaches were some of the best ever. Every single play of those games was a battle.
As time goes by I appreciate the history that Eli is making as a Giant. His NFC Championship game in San Francisco was an amazing game.
It had to be 1986 NFC championship game. It had been so long and so many years of bad football that once they got things going in the right direction each year they grew, got better and as they approached getting to a Super Bowl the anticipation was so great that once they got to that point it was like one celebration after another.
The total and complete annihilation of the Niners. Then the total domination of the Redskins with the wind and the paper blowing all over the place then Jim Burt climbing into the stands and high fiving the crowd after the game was over. And it would be remis not to mention the Gatorade bath Parcells took followed by him squirting Harry Carson with a water pistol. Those were just some unbelievable moments I'll never forget. Then of course the take down of the Broncos.
As a diehard for me they were all special in their own right. And I got just as excited for them all. But that '86 just took it to another level that put them a notch above all the rest for me.
'86--the game itself--I can hardly even remember. I'd just moved to Boston, and all I remember are endless, elated (expensive!) phone calls home that whole stretch. (So soon after the World Series...what a year!)
Still, the recent ones were just so unexpected. And I think it's '11 for me. The D for both teams--almost too stressful to watch.
The 90 (91 really) NFC Title game was an all-time classic.
Two of the great pre-cap teams playing their asses off in an absolute war. Hard to top that one, though for me personally Simms's absence put something of a damper on it.
The two Eli-era games were great, and to some extent they were throwbacks because they were both physically brutal contests. The truth is, though, there were a lot of seriously mediocre players on the field on both sides in those games. Because of the effects of the salary cap, I don't think you can compare those four teams to the Montana/Rice 49ers or the LT Giants.
I think '86 simply because it was the first. The dark ages were
It's what the Pro Bowl could be if the players took it very seriously (not suggesting they should).
A bunch of HoFers and all pros on the field for the rights to the Super Bowl, two teams that didn't like one another, one that was trying to do something that had never before been achieved.
There will be no threepeat!
Have to admit, though - they were all great in their own way. The 86 team finally making it to the top and making Jay Schroeder cry, the utter violation of the Vikings in 00, the OT thriller that sent Brett Favre packing in GB, and the beating that Eli survived to push the Giants back in to the tournament to face Belichick and Brady again.
90 wins, but that's a beauty contest full of winners.
Mostly because I was at the game out in SF and it was just so back and forth. Eli turned in a masterful game while getting beat down in terrible conditions. Game-winner kicked in the endzone I was sitting in. That game will stick with me forever.
I actually puked about 2 minutes after Bahr hit the game winner. That game...I don't know how I would have handled a loss there...I was a complete mess. To me the Niners were Dallas, today's Pats, John Wayne and Freddie Kreuger all rolled into one. I never truly believed they could be slain in a game like that. Sure you could catch them on the right day and the field could tilt like it did in 85-86--plus those Niner teams weren't nearly as formidable and the Niner aura and mystic was still building back then. By 1990 the Niners were literally perfect. They never lost those close games. They broke hearts. For the Giants to turn the tables on them in their own stadium...I want to run through a wall this very second just thinking about it...
because they were all awesome. But the 90 game was just ridiculous.
Most enjoyable game I ever attended was the 00 NFC Title game. Can't let the super bowl loss ruin that game. Most fans don't get to see or attend that kind of game.

But just looking at that list, it's mind blowing how many truly great games there were in the NFCC game.

Best game ever.
Was too young to fully appreciate it at the time, but subsequent viewings on a well worn vhs tape are an annual ritual.

Geez - i think that was the same section I was in too. Also one of my favorite games I attended as well.

Best day at Giants Stadium, ever.

The '90 SF game was the best game and sticking it to the 49ers was sweet.

I would rank them as...

2011
2007
1986
2000
I was too young for the 86/90 games.
The last two were special for different reasons.
Did someone here say they took their wife on their first date to an NFC Champ game?
Most enjoyable game I ever attended was the 00 NFC Title game. Can't let the super bowl loss ruin that game. Most fans don't get to see or attend that kind of game.
