between beating the Redskins, watching and hearing the stadium roar or the incredible iron will the '90 team displayed in SF.
I'll take '00...

because it was the highlight. All the others had another joyous moment to come.

I was at the game , I believe it was the greatest , most meaningful game ever played at Giants stadium. Basically a coronation and celebration after many ,many years of frustration.

It seemed like no one left that stadium until 1/2 hour AFTER the final play.
1990 for me
PatersonPlank : 1/31/2016 10:30 am : link
Very few times do you win when the game looks over, especially in a huge game on the road. When LT recovered Craig's fumble, when it looked like they would just run out the clock, it was unbelievable. Then the nerve-racking 41 yd FG was the icing on the cake.
I kinda view

the Green Bay and Both 49er games as roughly equal in terms of what great games they were -- but I give a slight edge to the Giants taking the great Joe Montana, breaking him, and denying the 3-peat
Both ones against the Niners

two great teams facing each other. The strong winds. Advancing past the 1985 loss and finally making it to the Super Bowl. A great day.

And 07, 90 were plain epic. 11 literally took a year off my life and is the most intense 3.5 hours of my Giants watching life. After 90 and 07- that is saying something.

down it's the 2011 Championship game for me. Taking on that Harbaugh 9ers D at it's best in a steady rain that slowly turned the field to slop. Going in the playoffs the 2 teams that scared me to death were the Saints (offense) and the 9ers (defense). Eli took a beating in that game. I winced at every hit. Yet he kept getting up. That is without question the most physical game I've ever watched.

I'd have to go with 1990

One of the best games I have ever seen.
1990- 49'ers had already set up shop in Tampa. They believed
TheMick7 : 1/31/2016 10:46 am : link
the Giants were just a stepping stone to XXV. Matt Bahr,Jeff Hostetler( Matt Cavanaugh didn't fumble when he went in for Hoss-props),Eric Howard,Leonard Marshall & LT. And, Pat Summerall, once a Giant-always a Giant, relishing the moment "There Will Be No Three-Peat!" I hated the Niners then, still do!
Easy -

'86 - '87. I spent a couple of years in NOVA as a kid during the 1970s before my family moved back to NY. Because of that period, the redskins are still my most hated team to this day. Also, after seeing so many years of (mostly) losing, it was surreal to think of the giants going to the SB. Easy call for me.
I was too young to appreciate 86 and 90.
robbieballs2003 : 1/31/2016 10:54 am : link
That 00 game was a complete domination but loses some value because of how we got our asses kicked in the Super Bowl. I know it shouldn't matter how we played in the super bowl after beating Minnesota but they are connected.

The 07 game was classic with the temperatures, Plax dominating, TC's face, going to OT, and beating Favre in Lambeau. It was a classic game.

However, I vote for 11. Our defense played like shit all year but stepped it up for like 4 weeks or so. Our OL sucked all year but stepped it up for 4 weeks or so. Eli took a beating. I have never been so nervous watching a game before. That game was coming down to who protected the ball better. Nobody was doing anything offensively. It was a classic defensive struggle in an age of offensive production. The hits in that game were awesome. It took a complete team effort. I still remember that Bradshaw fumble that wasn't called because of forward progress. I felt that call could have went either way. It was an intense game all around and even my wife said she never saw me that nervous ever.

Even if you were pretty confident going into the game there is no way you could have been confident with Eli taking that beating.

I was in 331 back then, too! Row 23, seat #1. What a wild scene. The wind, the confetti. Wow, I could have stayed there all night after the game. What a party!

you are so right...he took a SERIOUS beating..and I did wonder..but for some reason remained confident they would pull it out..and of course they did. Eli didn't have anything to prove to me, but that day I think he won over a few people who admired his grit and toughness!

JohnB : 1/31/2016 11:28 am : link
But if I were to pick one, it'd be 2011. Eli took a beating and kept coming.

But just looking at that list, it's mind blowing how many truly great games there were in the NFCC game.
There will be no three-peat

The best!
I was at the first two
Marty866b : 1/31/2016 11:36 am : link
The first is always special, especially at home but I expected the Giants to win. The 1990 game in S.F. was the greatest football game I have ever went to. Just look at the rosters from both teams,so many great players, the hitting was incredible and the way the game unfolded was surprising to say the least. You could hear a pin drop in Candlestick when Bahr's field goal went through. This to me,was the greatest Giant Championship game.
2000 because of the way we dominated
Ira : 1/31/2016 11:51 am : link
and 2007 because it was said that no one could beat the Pack when they were at home in the playoffs. It was the worst weather possible, yet we won out. And I loved the way Plax dominated Al Harris.
2007
George : 1/31/2016 12:07 pm : link
I felt confident going into the games in '86, '00, and '11. Was abroad in '91, and didn't have access to games (pre-interwebs).

But 2007/08 was a stunner - and was one of the single greatest games I've ever seen. Both teams played well in horrible conditions, and we won it on guts and cojones. I rate it just a notch above the game we played two weeks later.

Best game ever.
90 was one of the best games i've ever seen

powerhouse teams, hall of famers, the contrast in styles.

Was too young to fully appreciate it at the time, but subsequent viewings on a well worn vhs tape are an annual ritual.

1986 will always be special but I think my favorite is the 2007 game in Green Bay. So many great story lines in that game and a dominating game by Plax. 2011 is up there as well.
Anyone that started following them from the 60's
Spider 67 : 1/31/2016 12:39 pm : link
would have to say the Washington game. Giants Stadium, the winds, the rivalry, the wait, LT, the crowd noise, THAT Defense.

Good-bye Allie, Norm Snead, Rocky Thompson, the Yale Bowl, Bill Arnsparger, Craig Morton, The Fumble and so much more were all fresh in everyone's minds. That game, oh that game, the Giants were finally in the same league as Dallas, Pittsburgh, Oakland and Miami. No more laughing stocks of the NFL and sports world.
1990
Rolyrock : 1/31/2016 12:52 pm : link
On the floor squirming the whole game. Stopped the 3peat, defensive miracle at the end with LT. Both teams, all fans, praying, and screaming at the end.

tough as they
bluepepper : 1/31/2016 12:59 pm : link
all were special and 3 of them were decided on last play.

'90 - beating 4-time SB champs in their backyard on last play of game.
'07 - OT thriller on the frozen tundra
'00 - basically a 3 hour celebration
'86 - the first one
'11 - says something that an OT thriller comes in at #5. We have been blessed as a fan base since '86 no matter what happened in the 70's or no matter what the next couple of years holds.

2011 has a personal meaning to me
Steve L : 1/31/2016 1:11 pm : link
I had some major surgery in October that required me to have an illostomy bag for a few months. The surgery to remove it and put my insides back together was the day after the game. I had to watch this incredibly intense game with no food or beer. My kids and I went nuts when they won.

Next day the surgeon is about to me under and I say, "hey the Giants are in the super bowl. Get me through this so I can watch them win."

He says, "I'm a Patriots fan. Take a deep breath." That's the last thing I heard as I went under. Doc told me the next day he was kidding. Didn't even like football.

Was at that game in SF. Just an incredible feeling walking out of that stadium after putting up with so many cocky and over confident niner fans. Even up to last drive.

This. If you remember those really awful years, then 1986 is special -- until that day, we didn't know if we'd ever see the Giants in a Super Bowl. Since then, we all know it's possible, and it's actually happened fairly often.

On the other hand, the only thing I remember from that game is Jim Burt throwing Gatorade into the stands.

1990 and 2007 are about tied, in my view. So many remarkable plays in the 1990 game, especially Marshall's hit on Montana. The 2007 game was just freakish, in so many ways. A game where the Packers should have had a massive home field advantage, but the Giants won anyway. And the Giants' playoff run that year was so unexpected, which elevates those games.

2011 was a great game but we already knew the Giants were capable of making that kind of a run, so it wasn't the oh-my-God moment that the 2007 game was.

2000? Yeah, that happened.

It had been thirty long, often difficult, and very disappointing years since 1956.
One of the great
bluepepper : 1/31/2016 1:43 pm : link
things about '90 is that it had all the hallmarks of a game that the Giants were just not destined to win. The Carthon drop, the Walls fail on the Taylor TD, driving the ball but unable to score TD's. The great fake punt that still only netted a FG. We outplayed them that day but it just seemed like it wasn't meant to be. A bit like the Flipper game. Was just so frustrated as the 49ers were running the clock down. And then the ball came out.
Great question
UberAlias : 1/31/2016 1:44 pm : link
You could make a case for any of them and they were all special in their own way.

Each championship game was utterly outstanding
Hammer : 1/31/2016 3:07 pm : link
The 1990 game was off the charts exciting, the 2000 game was totally surprising and a terrific blowout, the 2007 game in the cold at Green Bay was as good as they get and the 2011 game in San Francisco might have been the best battle on a football field thatI have ever witnessed.

The 1986 game vs the Washington DC ball club was just satisfying but not a very good game in terms of excitement. It did satisfy the yearning for a championship after all those years of subpar performance, but as a game it just doesn't mach up to the other four.

Best football game I ever saw. The regular season game at Candlestick was a close second. Those teams, the talent on the field and the coaches were some of the best ever. Every single play of those games was a battle.

As time goes by I appreciate the history that Eli is making as a Giant. His NFC Championship game in San Francisco was an amazing game.

There was always something in my psyche of those games that loved just the idea/incredible excitement that we were GOING to the Super Bowl.
