I didn't see any thread dedicated to this and don't see the Pro Bowl thread from yesterday. I also didn't watch the game. But, I did see an update on the home page and a post yesterday that mentioned Beckham played S on defense a little bit. what were the circumstances? Was it done in the name of fun or were safeties on their squad hurt?
Does this not bother anyone? I find it odd this isn't getting more conversation and if I'm McAdoo and the front office, I'm pissed not only at him, but the coach.Thankfully, he came out unscathed. But, imaging if he hurt himself in any capacity playing D. What kind of shitstorm would this create?
Given the circumstances I don't think Beckham playing safety is anything to get ruffled about.
Goodell needs to cancel this shit show.
I fully understand the injury risk (especially how late in the season it is with reduced recovery time).
I think people are watching to see the players interact in a "light hearted atmosphere". I agree with others that have said a flag football (doesn't do much for the linemen) or a "Superstars" type competition might be better.
Or just have them play a multi-player video game.
On the flip side, why not try him a free safety? He has crazy ball skills and speed. I bet he probably tackles well too (he does everything well on the FB Field)
We do know the guy knows how to hit with a full head of steam...
Much ado about nothing.
I don't mind them playing in the game, although at this point I would rather they simply don't play the game at all. But, I do not like the idea of our players playing positions they would never play in a real game. This is a team that is supposedly very interested in trying to address injuries. I would think this is a red flag for them.
It's an all star game. Dudes an athlete. Come on
He probably would be the Giants best safety lol.
The Pro Bowl is essentially a group game of patty cake. I wouldn't care if beckham lined up at guard.
Baseball is a team game of individuals. Football is a team game about systems. The idea of people playing it in the same sense that baseball player play there's is asinine.
It HAS to be abolished.
This is a time when the overally powerful and fast player is increasingly fragile..and effectively playing on a smaller field.
End it. It's not football, no one cares, it's dangerous.
As for Sehorn, that too was in a meaningless game, but at least he was in a Giants uniform, and the coach had blessed it.
