Norman is still upset at Sanders for defending Beckham and apparently wanted no part of an effort by Sanders to broker peace between Norman and Beckham after the game. Norman began by shutting off Sanders’ initial attempt at friendly banter — “Man, what you think we got going on?” Norman said — then blasted Sanders to his face for applauding Beckham’s actions on the air. “At the same time, I felt like you had his back on his stuff,” Norman told Sanders in front of a crowd of reporters. “You said something like, if he was your son, you would have [given] him props and [said] ‘Go out and do your thing.’ “This man ran 10 yards at me full speed like he was trying to take me out or something. That’s something you’re going to pat on the back and be like, ‘Good job!’?” Sanders responded by telling Norman that he was also proud of Norman for how he handled the situation, but Norman didn’t accept his pseudo-apology. Sanders left Norman’s podium shortly afterward. |
At this juncture you can only hope somehow it sunk in for a better tomorrow. Apparently this is not the case.
Sanders and others are simply fanning the flames.
In OBJ's case his ego taking a hit could be a good thing for the future. Norman still in game mode a SB title within his reach. Hard to expect him to tone anything down right now, good, bad, or otherwise.
Time will tell as it always does.
Hope the best for both of these players.
The Refs don't call anything. ALL GAME the refs aren't calling it. They let them go at it. So they went at it. Beck wasn't getting the ball because Eli was pressured. Beck was being ATTACKED by every member of the secondary. Including the proclaimed dirties player in the league (Finnegan).
Norman is a TOY GANGSTER who began to be intimidated himself as Beck kept fighting back and was not afraid as all bullies realize, when they becomes the hunted. The last disrespectful play by Norman was he last straw. Beck had to BLAST him. Norman is still crying about it. He never expected that.
Sometimes games and life meet, This was a matter of respect. Carolina's antics were because the Giants could have beaten them. They brought the game down to that level. from the beginning along with NO CALLS by the refs it was not football anymore so it came down to personal respect.
but odell constantly was beating him. just because odell played like crap doesn't mean Norman didn't either. odell got open, which is Normans job to prevent.
How many catches and yards did he have as they built that huge lead?
Didn't he have more drops than catches? More penalties than caches?
Norman may be a fool but Befoham didn't do shit vs CAR except embarrass himself.
How dumb. As if Norman should be credited for getting beat deep and Odell dropping the ball.
He was abused. Beckham would have put up over 150 and 2 TDs on him if he didn't drop that ball. And again, Norman deserves no credit for Beckham dropping a ball.
You can say that it doesn't matter without the results, and I would be in agreement. But in terms of Norman's job responsibility in so far as covering Beckham-- he got beat on several occasions and was bailed out.
He's a washed up loser? What have you accomplished?
Norman was dirty all game...what did he expect to happen? Sorry OBJ didn't bend over and take it.
P.S. Norman ain't that good.
Mine is Peyton taking a nee with the offense, and then the whole offense doing the dumb ass pose that Newton leads on the sidelines with a lot of his teammates.
To say that Beckham was toasting him all game is a bit strange, imo.
Yes, how dumb is it to claim a guy was toasted ALL GAME because he allowed Beckham to run past him one time. That's your definition of toasted all game?
How many catches did he have on Norman? Was it 2? In a game where the QB dropped back 50+ times he caught 2 passes on the guy.
Beckham didn't toast anybody in this game except his own teammates.

It was more than 1 time. Beckham easily could have had 3 TDs against him under different circumstances. If you give up 2 TDs, you got burned. Give up 3, and you got your ass handed to you. and thats what happened but unfortunately Beckham dropped one, and Eli didnt have ennough time on the other throw.

Who is he to try to "broker peace" between the two? Most of today's players look at the guy as a joke these days. Oh, and LOLKWall.

Great comeback.
Or we can deal with what really happened.
He had 0 catches, several drops, several penalties for the first 3 qtrs while his team fell behind by 4 TDs.
He finished the game with 2 catches for about 20 yards on the guy. That's it. That isn't toasting anybody.

well he was open for the majority of the game. I guess it was josh Norman ESP telling beckham to drop the ball or for his dline to get pressure to prevent beckham from getting the ball.
there was not a single thing Norman did in that game that stopped beckham. and don't give me the mind games because beckham dropped an easy td before all the shenanigans.
I will not argue that beckham stunk, he did. but it wasn't because of josh Normans defense. beckham was open all game.
I don't think anybody can consistently cover Beckham. But to actually write that Beckham toasted Norman all game in this one is nothing but a Homer take on it.

Big TC fan here...But a bat on the field pre-game and then him unaware of what was going on with OBJ (supposedly)? That didn't help his cause when the owners came together, IMO.
"Norman did match up to Beckham, but they didn't play man coverage very often. And in fact, Beckham killed him," Cosell said this week on the Fantasy Guru Matchup Podcast. "I watched every play and I studied it hard because I knew it would be a topic of conversation. Beckham was beaten mentally. ... But physically, it's not even close. Norman can't cover Beckham."
He beat him deep and dropped the ball. Then he disappeared unless he was seen dropping the ball or taking cheap shots. He was terrible in that game. He didn't toast the guy all game. That''s the type of comment that gets you laughed out of a room.
Nobody, except a giant fan with blinders on, would say he toasted him all game.
Beckham was awful in that game, Norman got inside his head and it showed, if he played a normal game, we win it...He better learn from this
beckham was open all game. so are you saying not covering a guy is a good job?
again, you have to differentiate between obj getting open and obj not playing well. obj got open. and he got open a lot.
It's also about catching easy TDs and not committing three selfish personal foul penalties leading to suspension and embarrassment.

see that's the thjng. I didn't think he played well. but I can say he was getting open. despite all the nonsense, the two linked pages showed him getting open constantly against norman.
it was unfortunate beckham had a meltdown. he could have had a massive day against a top corner. but his drop followed by his antics prohibited that. but I will stand that he got open constantly against norman. Norman had a really, really bad day covering.
I'm not a fan of Norman and have stated here j think he's severely overrated. My issue is somebody claiming Backham toasted him ALL GAME. It didn't happen. He had more drops and penalties than catches. He played like shit and hurt his team in several ways.

plays where Norman popped him at the line and Beckham struggled with it.

My comment about Norman is backed up in article about Normans play at the LOS.
In other words, he wasn't toasting him on these plays.
The article mentions he didn't really cover Beckham in man, right? Mentions 3 plays and 2 of them were dropped by Beckham. Those 3 plays and 2 drops add up to a toasting all day for you and Cosell? That's great. We have a different definition of how that term is used in a football game.
Clete Blakeman was the referee in that game; same guy reffing this year's Super Bowl. Interesting nugget.
It's also about catching easy TDs and not committing three selfish personal foul penalties leading to suspension and embarrassment.
Unfortunately for your argument, doing a good job as a DB isn't about getting beat and hoping your guy drops the ball.

lol. ok. your right. beckham was covered all game and never had an opportunity to make plays. both these sites and myself must have seen something else.
your continuation of mentioning drops and penalties by beckham means little in regards to how norman covered him. Normans job was to cover beckham and the fact was throughout the gsme, he didnt.
Did Beckham beat Norman on occasion in the game? Yes.
Did Norman show good coverage skills? He does not have great coverage skills so no. He was good at dirty crap in that game.
Did he accomplish his mission of getting Beckham unfocused? Yes.
Did Beckham dominate him? Clearly not.
Did both players act like idiots? Yes
Is Norman's continued bitching even more hypocritical and idiotic? Yes.
All are true at the same time. They are not mutually exclusive points.
But like I said, as far as covering OBJ - he failed miserably. When matched up, OBJ was thrown at 7 times for 4 catches including a TD. There were 2 drops. And one pass underthrown. So those were the times when he was thrown at. If all 7 of those are completed, his stat line is 7 catches for 130 yards (at least) and 3 TDs. His PFF grade was a -5.9 (not that PFF is the all to be end all).
OBJ stunk because he was a mental midget that game. Not because Norman shut him down.
Beckham took to him and he will never be allowed to forget it.
Inside the NFL, players don't look at what happen the way those outside the NFL and the NFL Office --- so people can bring up that Beckham crossed the line but that does not carry any weight inside the NFL.
