est1986 : 2/3/2016 3:23 pm : link
If we took Ogbah with Buckner and more importantly, Nkemdiche still on the board.
Alexander is not going to go that high
Vanzetti : 2/3/2016 3:25 pm : link
He is too short

But otherwise a very good mock
also, drop Zeke Elliot a few places
Vanzetti : 2/3/2016 3:27 pm : link
Indy is not taking a RB in the first with all the holes they have on the lines
Yes on Ogbah at 10.
The_Boss : 2/3/2016 3:27 pm : link
Give me Rankins at 40 as well and I'll be smiling until the 4th of July.
If Ogbah can put up triangle numbers in workouts...
Torrag : 2/3/2016 3:27 pm : link
..he'll be a coveted pass rushing DE the Giants may not be able to pass up. IF.
I'm sold on Robert Nkemdiche
est1986 : 2/3/2016 3:28 pm : link
And I want him in Giants Blue.
If Ogbah posts the numbers
JonC : 2/3/2016 3:31 pm : link
he figures to be the target, he's the most NYG-like.
Nkemdiche is closer to the nuthouse
JonC : 2/3/2016 3:32 pm : link
Buckner might be better suited to 3-4 DE.

Do some homework.
Daniel
BIG FRED 1973 : 2/3/2016 3:36 pm : link
Jeremiah's mock keeps scrolling on NFL Network ,It has us taking Elliot and the bucs taking Eli Apple who is not even on GBN's mock first round lol

Don't pay attention to est1986.
Nkemdiche won't be on the Giants' board

Agreed.
Ogbah..
RAIN : 2/3/2016 3:52 pm : link
comes on late in this game.. I can see the tools. I can see flashes of the athleticism, but their will be some projection to his game that we may not be comfortable with at #10. He wins some of battles, but largely when the game becomes out of reach. He will definitely be in the conversation.
Ogbah vs Ole Miss (Tunsil) - ( New Window )
I would be very suprised if at #10 we took
SwirlingEddie : 2/3/2016 4:11 pm : link
the #3 DE.
After lots of Due Diligence, the Combine, Background Checks, etc…..
No Where Man : 2/3/2016 4:14 pm : link
Noah Spence will be in the Top 20. I wouldn't be surprised if we take him at 10, following a thorough evaluation.

BPA.
If he's tops on their tier, he'll be the guy. If the draft played out as GBN lays out above, I suspect the conversation in Jersey would be "Ogbah vs Treadwell".
with all the QB's in the 1st round discussion
ECham : 2/3/2016 4:16 pm : link
we should be in position to trade down.

Perfect trade Rams have an extra 2nd from the eagles.

Trade down to 16, Rams take a QB pick, we get and extra 2nd.

still get our pick of quality linemen

I'd want both of their 2nd round picks to swap places in the 1st.
according to the chart
ECham : 2/3/2016 4:24 pm : link
the difference in the picks is 300 points, a 2nd is worth 450. so your not getting both.

Todd McShay

is pretty good at these things. He released his 2.0 today and does not have Ogbah being taken by anyone in the first round.
Mocking the mock
Colin@gbn : 2/3/2016 4:27 pm : link
Want to thank est for the plug but in fact that mock is as old as the hills. We should have a new one early next week. One note re that mock is that it appear as if Ogbah is falling as he isn't all that explosive. One could almost make the case that he's more likely to be the Giants #2 pick at this point than #1. In starting to work on the new projection the Giants are one of the toughest calls. Right now they may have a long short list that includes RB Elliott, WR Treadwell, and OT Stanley (altho he now looks to be close to a lock to go top 10 somewhere), DEs Lawson and Spence, DTs Buckner (who also looks to be a top 10 lock but if he were there at #10 might get some serious consideration but as a Canty type quick DT); and the CBs Hargraeves and Alexander. But there is still a ton of sorting out to be done.
I've seen Elliott on other mocks
AP in Halfmoon : 2/3/2016 4:29 pm : link
but I can't see Reese drafting a RB at 10. I will be shocked

Daniel Jeremiah (NFLN) has Elliott to the NYG. I don't see him being worthy of the 10th pick in this draft. If what Colin says is right, with Ogbah dropping, I still think the discussion at 10 would be "Treadwell vs the top DL on their board".

Mocking the draft II
Colin@gbn : 2/3/2016 4:42 pm : link
Meant to add Billings and maybe Sheldon Rankins to the DT list.

AP:get tired of saying it but JERRY REESE does not make the picks. The Giants do as an organization. That every once in a while you have to think outside the Big Blue Box! Mcadoo and Reese said after the latter was hired was what they wanted to do on offense was to have a unit that created and took advantages of mismatches. One way you can do that is have a really good RB like an Elliott who you split out if the other team plays run and run if they are playing the pass. The neat thing for the Giants at RB is that they will have a number of options how to upgrade there. Take an Elliott in the first or wait even to the 4th and get somebody like aaron Green of TCU or Illinois' Josh Ferguson. You could even add somebody like a kid like DJ Foster of Arizona State, who ran for 1,000 yards a couple of years back then had 1,000 receiving yards later.

The one thing I think we may have seen the last of with the Giants is a running game designed to get 4 yards a pop. My guess is that under Mcadoo the goal is going to be to start popping people for 10-12-15 yards - if not 40-45 - a shot and you need a better back to do that.
Thanks Colin
AP in Halfmoon : 2/3/2016 4:46 pm : link
I meant Reese generically. They are so desperate for a pass rush I can't see them doing anything other than filling that need at 10.

Thanks for posting. I look forward to hearing more from you.
RB
LakeGeorgeGiant : 2/3/2016 5:04 pm : link
10 is probably too high for a RB, but I'd be OK with somebody like Alex Collins on day 3.
I am surprised nobody mentioned it
robbieballs2003 : 2/3/2016 5:20 pm : link
but if Treadwell is still available he will be hard to pass up. I am not saying he would be the pick but he will be heavily discussed.
draft
jurban : 2/3/2016 5:25 pm : link
lets get our house in order with free agency first...then u will get a better picture on who we draft and at what position....
I agree
mdthedream : 2/3/2016 5:26 pm : link
Spence looked awesome in the senior bowl game and they said he was a beast all week at practice.
I also think Wentz
robbieballs2003 : 2/3/2016 5:29 pm : link
goes not just in the first round but early in the first.
draft or free agency
jurban : 2/3/2016 5:38 pm : link
write this down...if we go defense big time in free agency...and giants are satisfied...at ten ..we will take Stanley..if hes there...or eziekel Elliott..that offense would be unstoppable...are backs are s l o w.............
more mocking
Colin@gbn : 2/3/2016 5:49 pm : link
Appreciated AP!! I agree that what the Giants do in free agency will obviously be key. One of my thoughts earlier in the process was that the Giants might very well be tempted to use FA to bolster the defense and then go all in and try and make the offense scary good with impact players on offense with the draft: Elliott or Treadwell at #1, TE Hunter at #2 and then maybe a back or WR like Shepard in the third. The only bug in the ointment with that is that the defensive players (either one of the DTs or S Darian Thompson) might be just too good to pass on (although there is no rule that one has to go all in on one side or the other of the ball!) There other plan may simply to address the defense, and in particular the rush with the draft, but I am just not convinced that the DL available at #10 are really worth it. Then I ask myself which player the Giants could pick that would give Jerry Jones real heratburn and the two names I keep coming up with are Treadwell and Noah Spence. So there you go. If nothing else lots of of options.
Update
Colin@gbn : 2/3/2016 5:51 pm : link
That s/b DTs or S Darian Thompson "in the second round"
no problem
mdthedream : 2/3/2016 5:56 pm : link
with a big RB.
Spence
beatrixkiddo : 2/3/2016 6:11 pm : link
Looks like the only DE that would be worth the pick at 10, hope his off field issues check out and he really has cleaned himself up. I'd love the pick if the Giants feel it is behind him.

If not I think Elliot or Treadwell would also be great options, although I would hope they signed some depth at DB in FA to make me feel comfortable with either of them. Considering how much this team plays out of shotgun, I think Elliot would be a great fit, and I wouldn't be upset with that pick at all.
Also
mdthedream : 2/3/2016 6:12 pm : link
The Giants could go after Forte and have a RB horse that catches and runs the ball all three downs. Than focus on defense with the rest of the money and draft. Either way its going to be very interesting to see what they do.
Doubt Giants go RB
JohnVB : 2/3/2016 6:33 pm : link
They've already invested money in the position with Jennings and Vereen. I just don't see it with the talent deficiencies at DE, LB, CB, DT, and WR.

Odds are Reese goes DE, CB, or WR in round 1 contingent upon what they do in FA, and it seems like the value will be there at those positions at our pick.
To be honest
mdthedream : 2/3/2016 6:40 pm : link
I would not draft a WR in round 1 only because you can't keep two big stud WR when the time comes to pay them. Rather get a solid number two WR in free agency like a Floyd from Floyd from Arizona.A Crabtree type of signing.
WR Coleman
KWALL2 : 2/3/2016 6:45 pm : link
In round 1. He would have looked good for the Giants in round 2.
I wouldn't object to a WR in round 1
AP in Halfmoon : 2/3/2016 6:48 pm : link
I recall last May how everyone thought the Giants were set at WR with solid starters and good depth. Things change in a hurry.
I
AcidTest : 2/3/2016 6:49 pm : link
hope the Giants don't draft Spence, Treadwell, Jack, or Nkedmiche (sp?). Character and injury concerns galore.

Wentz is going top five. Right now, it looks like he's ahead of every other QB, including Goff.

I agree with whoever said trade with the Rams. But if the gap is 300 points, and a second is worth 450, then you'd be lucky to get that pick. In any event, most of the better talent will be gone by #10. I don't see a lot of difference between players at #10 and #20.
I would rather this team
mdthedream : 2/3/2016 6:52 pm : link
not be like New Orleans with this defense.
If Ogbah does have great numbers
jayg5 : 2/3/2016 7:18 pm : link
At combine, I hope the NYG'S don't use that as to why to draft him at 10. Not worth it at all after watching his games on draftbreakdown.com IMO
Don't know how but I want Kevin Dodd in BLUE
bronxgiant : 2/3/2016 10:46 pm : link
He is a playmaker in all faucets of the game. He is not the sexy name but he is very talented and sheds blocks better most I have seen this year. Saw him against the Hurricanes and thought he was awesome. Figured though that playing an unranked team you could do that. On national championship night though I saw him dominate the best OL in college football. He will be one of those guys who will be a better pro than he was in college.

The Giants have one WR.. OBJ.. it would not be a bad pick..
Draft
Dragon : 2/4/2016 1:10 am : link
Is going to be very good because even today and at draft time the top ten guys will be in doubt. If Threadwell and Elliott are still there at ten I can't see another player with more upside then either of them. Now that would mean the top two QB's, OT's and DL's have all been taken. If we take Elliott then for sure Jennings and Vereen roles become much more a teacher for this year if we keep them both. Williams and Darkwa become a race to see who has the chance to become the backup for Elliott going forward.

Threadwell offers a what would seem like greater position of need but his combine numbers and medical exam are going to be very important. Threadwell has always been a man among boys at his position and would look great along side OBJ. The WR position also looks to have much more top 100 talent than the RB's. I strongly believe the draft is the best way to build for the future so they will have to provide the BPA regardless of position throughout this draft.
