The ex-girlfriend of NFL superstar quarterback Johnny Manziel told police that the Heisman Trophy winner told her "shut up or I'll kill us both" after forcing her into a car, hitting her and dragging her by the hair "I was crying and begged the valet, 'Please don't let him take me. I'm scared for my life!'" she told police. The valet reportedly told her, "I don't know what to do" and let Manziel leave with her. |
Also, Manziel is a cowardly piece of crap.
Hate to laugh because the situation isn't funny. But this jok3 made me laugh, I'll admit it!
Just sayin...
Just sayin...
wow
It's not every day you come across a gem like that.
...and many men abuse women.
See how that works?
This might be too much for even Jerrah. Maybe if the Cowboys turn him down after the Browns cut him he'll get the help he obviously needs.
Bingo
The tendency of some to immediately blame the victims in cases of violence against women is infuriating. This is a man with a history of bad behavior, and the response from some is "maybe she is just running her mouth"?
Misogyny, cut and dry.
Turns 24 in December.
Hopefully someone can get him over his addiction so he can save himself.

Normally the father would be part of that 'they'.
There's also a police report, and cops allegedly saw her injuries. And when a guy has issues like this repeatedly... lets just say where theres smoke theres fire.
And yeah, telling quote from his father. Gee, wonder how Johnny grew up with no sense of responsibility or self-control?
His agent fired him yesterday. You can't make this shit up -- he was fired... by his agent. He needs to check himself into rehab like yesterday. Football is a distant, distant 2nd thought at this point.

Johnny Manziel's dad, Paul, told Dallas Morning News, "I truly believe if they can't get him help, he won't live to see his 24th birthday."

I was taken aback by the word "they" initially too but supposedly Manziel's Dad has personally escorted him to two clinics within the past week, and both times shortly after he left him there, Manziel walked out. The Dad can probably do more but i'll give him the benefit of the doubt here that he's trying and getting frustrated.
That being said, there has now been two claims of violence levied against Manziel by his GF to separate police agencies and neither has led to any charges having been filed. This isn't to mention to month-long investigation into his domestic issues by the NFL that resulted in no findings of fault. I cannot account for what went on but I'm not about to jump to conclusions that aren't supported by evidence. Being a chemically dependent junkie doesn't mean that he necessarily abuses women, but I admit that any allegations of that degree are cause for concern and investigation.
The silver lining is that by bringing all of Johnny's issues to such a public light, perhaps it forces him to not only seek but leverage any help possible and make something of his considerable football talent.
I know lots of people who did the same shit Manziel is doing, only they did not take it as far because they did not have the privileges he has. Manziel doesn't have to worry about holding a job so he can pay rent and eat. If he did, I have a feeling he would suddenly be able to control himself a little more.
His problem is he is spoiled, not that he has some deep, dark "demons" haunting him. He is just like every stoner or waste product that dropped out of school. Only he is rich and famous so he can get away with stuff.

I always thought he was a talented kid, even with his size limitations. I was rooting for him this summer to win the job (I thought he did in the offseason), obviously had no idea his problems ran this deep. The kid needs to handle this, not for football reasons, but to get his life straightened out.
Though, based on Johnny and his partying bad boy reputation- the type of young lady would probably mirror those in the ' Girls Gone Wild' videos back in the day.
Could I be wrong- sure.

I think you're pretty spot on. Seems like he was on his best behavior this offseason, once he didn't get the nod as the starter, his problems started to resurface. That's definitely an issue with maturity, responsibility, and also selfishness.

He can't handle the fact that he stinks at the NFL level. So, instead of working hard to make himself better, he is going off the deep end and throwing fits. I think lack of maturity and a sense of entitlement are this kid's problems.

I disagree with you both to this extent. His problems started before he got to the NFL and the possible realization he wouldn't cut it. It's a problem that was with him at A&M and probably before. The only thing that's changed is that it's gotten progressively worse.

I dont know - there is a lack of maturity angle to this, but the kid was drinking and getting into all sorts of trouble at Texas A&M too. He's been going down a bad path for a while, not just since he didnt win a job out of camp.
I also find the "rich people don't have real problems - if he werent rich he wouldnt have this addiction" view to be incredibly naive. Wake up and educate yourself on the topic.

Although I wouldn't call myself an 'apologist' or 'excuse maker' for this guy... I'm doing now what I actually felt like doing once that whole 'Vegas trip/disguise' story came out and admit that although he was being a dick about it... Giants2012 was 100% right when he got on me for defending Manziel back when the story about him being at the club and video of him drinking and rapping into a camera came to light. At the time I didn't think it was a big deal and thought that he was being singled out more for doing something I didn't think was a big deal because of his past when I'd thought (or maybe 'hope' is a better word) that he'd gotten his life together. But after the Vegas fiasco and then this... I wish I'd never even started to defend the guy.
So you were right Giants2012 and I have no problem admitting it. I was an idiot (like I believe you called me at the time) for putting any faith into this clown.

Alcoholism is always a symptom of underlying problems. Alcohol and drugs are just the past and current solution for his problems....and it is starting to no longer work, as it is now clashing with his interaction with the outside world. This guy is on the fast track to nowhereville.
"But now Cleveland dislikes him so much to the point, like San Diego to me [where] it's at the point you just have to get out of town. By me getting out of town and getting a new start, it didn't work for me either. I got to a great place in Tampa with coach [Tony] Dungy and that team but I couldn't restart it and I'm worried that he's not going to be able to catch on somewhere else and be as successful as he's capable of being. I hope he can."
