NFT: Louisville self-imposes 1 year postseason ban

Louisville president James Ramsey, athletic director Tom Jurich and head coach Rick Pitino announced they would hold a joint press conference on Friday afternoon. The Louisville Courier-Journal reports it is to announce the Cardinals will self-impose a postseason ban.

Meanwhile, UNC just keeps strolling along. The NCAA might get around to doing something about them in another 5-10 years.

Pitino can't survive this, can he?

looks like it's being held in a funeral home. And Pitino looks like the corpse.
Wow, you have to feel bad for Lee and Lewis

graduate transfers who had nothing to do with this.

I'm not a fan of these midseason self-imposed bans. Too many innocent kids get penalized for acts they had nothing to do with. Say what you want about UNC, its your perogative -- but penalize them over the summer and let whatever innocent team members and/or recruits go to another school without the 1-yr penalty.
To paraphrase Tark . . .

"The NCAA is going to be so made at UNC that they'll put Cleveland State back on probation."
I hear about UNC a lot

but I'm not sure what the issue was. If there was proof the NCAA would have to act.

MetsareBack, isn't that almost always the case? The current athletes pay the price for previous years.
the issue is massive, widespread academic fraud
Greg from LI : 2/5/2016 3:49 pm : link
The African-American studies department at UNC, for a period of a decade or more, created phony classes that athletes enrolled in to artificially boost their GPA. These classes almost never met and the only work required was a essay. The people who created the classes were the ones "grading" the essays, so it didn't matter how plagiarized or bad an essay was.

What's worse, to maintain the illusion that these were legitimate classes, they were listed in the course catalog like any other classes, and over time regular students began enrolling in the phony classes to boost their GPAs, too. If there were any integrity in the collegiate world, UNC's accreditation would be suspended.

Not sure, it seems only recently that schools (Syracuse, now Louisville) began imposing midseason bans.

IF done over the summer i would think (have thought) students had a chance to transfer out.

Whatever Greg. Those fine scholar-athletes are well primed for their future with a 15-word Swahili vocabulary.

C'mon son, lets go shoot some hoops!
I hate to tell Louisville, but I don't think a one-year ...

... ban is going to cover it. And Greg, you are spot on with UNC. The NCAA can give FIFA and the IOC a major run for its money.
