NFT: Google Webmaster Tools to improve search ranking?

AcidTest : 2/5/2016 3:08 pm
Does anybody use Google Webmaster Tools to improve the search ranking for their website?

I am just about finished creating a website using the drag and drop method at Weebly. It's been fun and easy. They have several video tutorials, one of which is on SEO. One strategy they recommend is setting up a Google (and possibly Bing) webmaster tools account for the website. You type some code from the account into the header section of your website under the settings section. You also give Google the site map for the website. This will apparently cause Google to index the website more regularly, and give it a higher ranking. Is it effective?
yes

Now known as Google Search Console, doesn't help your rankings, but it gives you insight into the diagnostics of your website and how well the site communicates with Google. You can submit an xml sitemap, configure your robots.txt file and even use the data highlighter which would be good for your product ratings/reviews.
certainly worth doing it

will help you manage many aspects of your profile with google. you can hook up sitemaps as well that aid google in indexing your site. Bing has one as well.

Certainly worth the extra step to hook your site up to Google and Bing IMO
hmmm

Professional services is a bit vague
is it local business ? or something you do everywhere?

it is good to try to get article published in blogs and other places
with link to your site ..

links to your site from legitimate content rich sites are what push sites to top of google
It's a tool

that can help, but it in itself will not improve search rankings. For that you need to do SEO as well as just general marketing to drive traffic. Check the link for a primer, just don't buy their tools, at least not yet.
