NFT: Grizzlies @ Knicks: Mike Conley Watch

ChaChing : 2/5/2016 7:42 pm
No Melo, Lance, so what else would we be watching?

Still not sure if he's a max, but for all the other likely maxs out there, MC's solid. Esp for our needs

Can't stand watching this team right now.
bceagle05 : 2/5/2016 7:47 pm : link
Just brutal.
Is this a replay of last night?
ChaChing : 2/5/2016 7:47 pm : link
10-0 2 min in

Our O just doesn't run much recently. Terrible 1 pass long balls too often, or iso even going with Lopez at times with no movement
Calderon
bigbluehoya : 2/5/2016 8:00 pm : link
Looking for 40 tonight lol
Jose schooling Mike Conley!
bceagle05 : 2/5/2016 8:00 pm : link
Better re-think that max offer this summer.
Also Mario Chalmers watch...
ChaChing : 2/5/2016 8:01 pm : link
tho watching any PG tear us up isn't that telling

as JC hits another 3...10 pts already (after two awful TOs, can't avoid a few head scratchers ea game)
I think Matt Barnes
ChaChing : 2/5/2016 8:04 pm : link
just got a foul for looking at Sasha

Seraphin. If he doesn't pass in the first second, his head goes down and he's shooting. Doesn't matter what kind of shot it's going up

Agree. I don't hate Seraphin, but he is not a good enough player to be a ball stopper in the offense
Here is one thing wring with the Knicks right now
Vanzetti : 2/5/2016 8:20 pm : link
KP has 1 shot

KOQ has 5 shots
Green
bigbluehoya : 2/5/2016 8:23 pm : link
Has a bad rap around the league it seems, and maybe it's deserved, but damnit if I don't love the guy.

He's responsible for some of my most enjoyable times as sports fan.

Yup. KP needs to take some shots, but he really gets a little overwhelmed trying to create them (esp vs a good defender like Gasol). They need to get him more catch and shoot plays as well as lobs to the rim (none of our Gs can do this well)

Then right there, even when we 'call' the lob, for some reason we run it from 3 ft inside the half court line. And last 10 games or so our guys are very half assed in play execution (like DWill stopping there, tho he was well defended)

He still traveled against Vanderbilt.

I'm a fan of Green the player, but genuinely curious..

why the bad wrap?

what good times? I clearly don't remember specific moments, tho I know he goes back to OKC w/ KD & RW
Haha
bigbluehoya : 2/5/2016 8:29 pm : link
That's fair, Mook.

That one (missed) call doesn't outweigh what an officiating snow job that game was. Wouldn't have been close if that wasn't literally one of the worst officiated games I've ever seen.
he's talking about Green
MookGiants : 2/5/2016 8:30 pm : link
at Georgetown, but we all know some of those moments would have never happened if the ref made the correct travel calll in the sweet 16 against Vandy.
I sat right next to Stuart Scott
MookGiants : 2/5/2016 8:31 pm : link
for that game at the IZOD Center. He was screaming travel when it happened haha. I didn't notice it live but on replay he definitely did. That was a fun night. I have an awesome picture with Stuart from that night. He could not have been nicer

His 3 years at Georgetown coincided with my senior year and first 2 years out. When he and Hibbert took Georgetown to the final four, it was a really fun time in my life. Still young enough to party harder than anyone really should, and finally had some walking around money as a young professional. The sweet 16 / elite 8 that year were at the meadowlands, so I was able to attend both games.

STEEP weekend, but one of the most memorable of my life.
Nice...yeah I'm not a huge college guy
ChaChing : 2/5/2016 8:36 pm : link
and am even less aware of JG's, tho I had known he was a GTown guy w/ Hibbert

That's awesome. Having never gone to a big sports school I was always a little jealous of hearing about the schools that did esp being a big football / bball fan. Then again I prolly never woulda graduated
Maybe Fisher
batman11 : 2/5/2016 8:39 pm : link
should run some plays for KP where he is actually in a good position to score. What a fucking concept that would be! Maybe a couple of curl plays for a foul line jumper? How hard is this? They are wasting his ability while Seraphin and Afalo are throwing their forced crap up there. Phil must be able to see this, can't he?
Predictable so far.
bceagle05 : 2/5/2016 8:42 pm : link
Memphis will grind out a double-digit win.
They need a PG
bigbluehoya : 2/5/2016 8:43 pm : link
In the worst way.
I swear Calderon never ever ever looks KPs way.
PhiPsi125 : 2/5/2016 9:02 pm : link

You took me too literally.

I will say, on these rare nights where you see the peak of Calderon's game, he's quite a savvy player.
batman agreed
ChaChing : 2/5/2016 9:17 pm : link
but between the whole O faltering, KPs mediocre hands / ability to get position and a good Memphis D it's not easy either

OTOH Seraphin is bigger and much better at positioning, so it's easier for our mediocre passers to get him the ball, and he's big enough to get a shot off (esp vs MG & ZBo) tho never the #1 option and has no peripheral vision as implied b4. Teams leave KOQ open at 18' because he hasn't made it much tho not shy. Teams don't do that to KP and muscle him at every chance, like they should. It's not been easy to get him the ball this yr...
I really hate
bigbluehoya : 2/5/2016 9:17 pm : link
This combination of 5 that fish has out there
Really can't stand chalmers
nygiants16 : 2/5/2016 9:24 pm : link
He was a bitch in Miami to always thought he was better than he was calling himself a member of the big 4..
So this new thing going to Wally during timeouts
Deej : 2/5/2016 9:32 pm : link
basically a concession that Clyde cant do the job anymore (sadly). Right?
Grizzlies don't seem to really want this game...
ChaChing : 2/5/2016 9:41 pm : link
but we're not doing much to take it anyway

we're shooting 36%, but 12 Orebs and a few more 3s is the only reason we're close. A W would be an absolute steal, but I don't think that's where this is headed in spite of the close score

Then Calderon finally DOES make a sick lob and KP can't finish (finished the awkward layup off the mediocre pass earlier tho)
Frustrating.

Why does it seem like this team plays better without Carmello?
eightshamrocks : 2/5/2016 9:45 pm : link
I hate to say it, but it sure seems that way. There is just too much one on one ball, and not enough ball movement with Carmelo. If he is shooting the ball well, then its fine-but if he's shooting poorly, the Knicks always lose playing that way. Need more ball movement.
Either refs hate Lopez
ChaChing : 2/5/2016 9:45 pm : link
or he simply can't count to 3

I don't think I've seen more O & D 3s calls for any team. Only a handful in almost as many non-Knick games Ive seen if not more this yr

What team are you watching? They are pretty close to pathetic without Carmelo.
77 points is playing better without Melo

Aren't they like 0-8 this season without Melo?

Your post is ludicrous.
Yeah can't agree with that
ChaChing : 2/5/2016 9:54 pm : link
0-6 w/o Melo coming into today iirc, the O looks AWFUL (as it has for 2-3 games and off for many more), Melo has 6A+ in his last 8 aside from the overall significant improvement in his overall versatility & team game (maybe best of his career)
Got to love it
nygiants16 : 2/5/2016 9:55 pm : link
When one team is allowed to be physical and the other can't, NBA officiating at its finest, Zach Randolph shoved porzingis on defense then shoved him on offense no call but of course let's call tricky tack shit on the knicks...
But Carmelo does tend to be a black hole on offense
eightshamrocks : 2/5/2016 9:56 pm : link
Maybe I was a little off, but that's what it seems like to me. I know he is averaging more assists this year

Maybe a little off? If that's what it seems like i'm not sure you know what you are watching.

Lopez was wide open for a dunk if they kept their head up dribbling up court
WOOOO another missed GW shot from Afflalo...

Porzingis had a better look, was wide open at the top of the key
