Thanks, I needed a good laugh. The Sawx should probably worry a bit more about climbing out of the cellar before they're contending for a few years and then signing Bryce Harper.
wanted to be a NYY since he was a kid. Yes that probably means nothing in the grand scheme of things, but you never know. I find it funny how this article predictably tries to paint the Sox as a better destination because of the possible influx of top prospects to the bigs from their uber hyped overrated minor league system. Here's the bottom line: if the Yanks want Harper, they'll get him. Period. I'm sure if/when Harper comes to the Bronx, articles will pop up around Boston easing the minds of the Sox faithful saying how Harper isn't all that and/or how one player doesn't make the team, etc....
The Sox will simply go public ad cry about the Yankees being the Evil Empire and how bad they are for baseball. Then they will tell the world that the blue collar, gritty, underdog Boston Red Sox do things the right way, through their system, and they should be the model to follow.
As to any one player, the Yankees going forward have lots of competition. In a world the the M's can shell out $240 million for Cano, the view that the Yankees can outbid everyone for a specific player is I think wrong.
Now, it's 100% true that the Yankees can sustain an OVERALL PAYROLL that would be difficult for any team to match. They can probably spend $300 million routinely, whereas it's a stretch for LA to repeat that. If they want to do that. I think it's a mistake in the post PEDs era to do it thought (IMO, free agents were a better bet in the PEDs era because bodies didnt break down as readily as they do naturally).
Childhood dreams of being a Yankee could be a tiebreaker. But the deciding factor is likely to be the roster. He'll choose a team with a dynamic roster on the rise.
RE: Harper will not be short of suiters willing to make him rich

Well said, but the way things are trending, that very well could be the Yankees. I'm so excited for the possibility
Disgusting hypocrites.
Except that the yanks usually get their man. The Knicks usually don't and that whole lebron saga was complete media fabricated bullshit.
When the Yanks have money they are very dangerous because no one has the pockets they have.
