Have the giants ever drafted a player

with a history of drug use?

Manningham, and sure there are others.
you could argue

that steroids are rampant making quite a few players drug users. They are regulated too, goes ask for some or testosterone and see what you and your doctor go through.
I should have said

with a history of drug use that was known.
sure

but they take chances on them later in the draft believing they get good value. Jayron Holsey got busted at college for pot, people thought he might be a late first round talent. So when he dropped they thought they had a steal.

Manningham was very well known
Yes
JonC : 2/6/2016 2:10 pm : link
but the risk-taking is now being taken later in the draft and less often.
Didn't Damontre Moore test positive too?

Just one of many reasons his stock plummeted.
Other Giant picks who were later linked to drugs...

...include Keith Hamilton and David Tyree. I don't know of any history for Hammer at Pitt or Tyree at Syracuse.

Will Hill was a different kind of drug gamble, since he wasn't drafted.
And then there's Ahmad Bradshaw...

... who somehow never got caught until after he moved on to Indy.
Also Isaac Hilton - seventh round in 2004.

Maybe not worth mentioning.
to think some of these guys have never

more and more of college athletes private activities are going to be known thanks to cell phone videos and a lack of discretion on the part of people who may see them doing these things and can't help but go blab to someone for a payoff, or even 15 minutes of fame.
Guys in the past who were considered squeaky clean may not have been.
A player doing bong hits at a party these days is way more likely to be exposed on the internet, or at least the word will get around. I just heard someone talking about Shaq Lawson taking Ex before a game? I couldnt find anything online, but theres an example of word getting around, whether validated or not.
With the increased pressure to draft well, and even the salaries of first round players (which is less than it was) makes the first round choice of all teams all that more critical. So players that would once have been considered boy scouts are now big time risks because everyone is all over these athletes and are willing to expose them for a variety of reasons. So do you shy away from exaggerated red flags? Or do you take a chance because so called red flags are really nothing more than what so many players did in the past and were rarely exposed for? I assume the Giants steer clear of even the most minor of red flags in the first and second round and might take a risk after that, like they did with Mario, who stayed out of trouble in the NFL.
Jayron Hosley

failed a few drug tests in college IIRC which is why he fell to the 3rd round. Unfortunately the Giants stopped his fall.
sorry Matt

I just saw your post.
Plenty of free agents also

Like Will Hill.
In the past the Giants were like a rehab facility for football players with problems.
Kerry Collins
Christian Peters.
To name a few.
