Points are incredibly critical and are going to be for every single game moving forward. Some key points...
1) The big news: Johnny Boychuk returns to the lineup. He has been out since New Years Eve against Buffalo. Strait sits. Leddy and Boychuk will be paired together, which is a bit of a deviation from the Leddy - de Haan, Boychuk - Hammer combos we've been seeing. I believe Strait was paired with Leddy against Washington (could be wrong) so Nick must be beyond thrilled.
2) Halak is in net. This is significant to me, because for the first time in a long time, the Islanders have their full starting lineup on the ice tonight. No excuses.
Lots of good reading material at
Lighthouse Hockey today, including:
1) Hickey on why Tom Wilson was worth decking
2) Staple on Anders Lee's scoring slump
Interesting tidbit. Matt Martin has 2 total penalty minutes in his career against the Red Wings, which is the lowest he has against any team. He grew up across the River from Detroit. His 5 points is also the most against any team in his career.
Cappy on Detroit:
“They are a fast team,” Jack Capuano said. “Going back and watching the last time we played them, they have some forwards up front that are pretty quick and they are a puck possession-type team. That first period was what it was.”
Let's get two.
Nik Kronwall out for DET, on IR.
Ilya Sorokin continues to crush the KHL, earning player of the month for January. He ended the month with 7 wins, 3 shutouts (including 2 on the road), a goals against average of 0.98 and a save percentage of .961.
Now that the children are in time-out, since I'm not having the privilege to catch the game live, how the crap are we down 2-0 when we outshoot someone 11-4?
Step away from the keyboard, man. It was a shitty period. I'm not going to debate you on how good or not good the Islanders are, but they certainly do not "suck."
That's the best I got. If you want some respect here, don't be "that guy."

I am not sure why people engage hudson
Now, about moral victories and loser talk...I don't think there's a single fan here who isn't disappointed that the team isn't performing as we'd hoped. And every one of us can point to issues that need addressed. However...since we are just fans, we are powerless to influence roster decisions, trade negotiations or conduct drills to help the team improve. The sooner you accept that, the better. No one is ignoring the lapses. Nor can any of us wish them away, and no one is saying things are sunshine and rainbows every day. No one.
My issue is with the contunued bitching and moaning that hits the same predictable points time and again. If you have nothing of value to contribute - and other than your one note complaining that pervades every post you make - please don't. We were here before you just fine and we'll be here long after you just as well.
End rant. Enjoy your day.

You must enjoy lifeless and hapless play. Much like your personal life? Getting pushed around and beaten, cowering away. "But, they played hard, doesn't that count?" Stop with the lecture.
And for the record, I'll never apologize for the success I enjoy in my life. I'm sorry if yours is a rodeo of suck. Namaste.
You must also hate being a Giants fan. But we know you're desperate to be recognized and heard from. All good, though. Free country and all.
Watch what you say. These guys are looking for moral victories.
I'm going to speculate here but Dp bitches about Halak and capuano calls him out and capuano never calls out a player publicly.

That just shows how clueless the coach really is. They didn't skate at all. How could be blame Halak? Bailey might have had the single worst performance I've ever seen by non 4th liner. He was completely lifeless and atrocious. Zid too. Really almost everyone played horribly.
Also since Garth made the trades for leddy and boychuk we have not heard a thing from him. Losses like this are bad and we have them often. Someone needs to be accountable and no one steps up.
Bailey is a waste and when you see a guy like Larkin doing good things you wonder why Bailey is out there and not barzal or MDC or Tito. Any of those kids would be better.
