One thing for sure

We won't get the immediate "oh my that was a top 5 super bowl" discussion tomorrow as seems to happen on an almost annual basis for about 8 years now (other than 2 years ago)

That was one of the most forgettable super bowls i can recall. Sloppily played (6 total turnovers, missed FG, missed throws) and not a single big offensive play, with the only semi-memorable play being the strip sack TD which most will likely forget in a few years.

Glad Carolina lost and Von Miller was a beast...but over the course of the last 25 years, this is certainly bottom 5 to me.

Sure not one of the greatest ever played, but kept your attention. All you can ask for.
Indicative of the entire league - Sloppy

From the in-game product to the presentation and endless commercials, not too mention the tone-deafness of the commissioner and his owner employers.
dumb fouls

but nice to see a great defensive struggle.
The defense on both sides

Was excellent! With the rules always leaning toward the offense it was nice to see quality defense dominating the game.

I agree. The only real downside was all the penalties. Some great defense on display.
Love Defense as well

you can have good defense and have an exciting game. i just didn't see it here. this i think bordered more on sloppy.

XLII was 7-3 going into the 4th and that game (homerism aside) just felt about 10 notches more intense with excellent defense and no scoring. just one example.

to each their own i suppose, but 6 turnovers and several missed passes and penalties etc didn't generate much excitement to me.
Turnovers...

are caused by the defense. Usually any way. That's not a negative...
Old time football.

its a fair point. all depends on the context of the turnovers i guess.
I liked it better than most of the recent Super Bowls.

Excellent defense on both sides, and the game wasn't decided until late in the 4th quarter when Newton lost the ball.

The penalties sucked, but the turnovers were a result of good plays by the defense rather than either team being careless with the ball.
I loved it.

Except for the plethora of personal foul calls, this was an exciting game to watch. Best part, of course, was not having to see Cam do the superman routine in the endzone, not even once.
