NFT: headphone break in?

ron mexico : 2/8/2016 11:24 am
So I just got a new pair of sennheiser momentum on ear headphones yesterday. While they sounds crisp and clear, they seems to be lacking in power compared to some much cheaper units I have used in the past.

Is this a breaking in issue or is my iphone not powerful enough to drive them? In which case I should look into getting a head phone amp?

might be due to settings on my iphone. Gonna try that first.

you may need an amp for your headphones

they make mobile headphone amps for this very issue.

Momentum was engineered to work with mobile phones

Nominal impedance is only 18 ohms. iphone should be able to drive them. I bought a headphone amp for my HD 239 but they are rated at 32 ohms and I wasn't getting enough power from my tablet.

or audio engineer and they'll tell you discussion about breaking in speakers or headphones is a bunch of hogwash. I agree. If they sound like crap, it's very unlikely they'll change (break in) and sound better over time...you'll just get used to them sounding like crap.
