...and have beaten the Rangers this season. I hope they focus on the Devils and not worry about Wayne Simmonds. Some guys need to step up in McDonagh's absence. The Rangers play the Flyers this weekend and then they can worry about "handling" that.
that Simmonds gets no suspension. And now who knows how long Mac is out?? And Simmonds had the balls to actually insinuate in the moment that Mac was faking it.

$7.6M AAV over 5 years. He's not worth those numbers to me. I'd have to think Yandle is worth more than that and if that's the case then we're not paying it.
If the plan is to get Yandle back for Staal money, good fucking luck. Now you can decide to make a run of this year so keep him, but it should be eyes wide open.
Eh, there is only one consistently good East team right now. That said, I'd trade Yandle because we dont maximize his value, and because I think Skjei would actually do a lot for this team. Different skills, but Skjei-Klein would likely be our #2 pair notwithstanding labels. And bust his cherry for next year.
What does this team do really well? Can you pick something out? Because I can't. Their coach refuses to play the best possible lineups. They have two defensemen in the top 4 who are utterly useless. They take a lot of stupid penalties. Their PP has been a joke for many years, and now the PK sucks too. The 4th line is atrocious. Even the franchise goalie has been struggling.
He doesn't play his best 6 defensemen this year, so I don't know why next year would be any different.
It's a fair point. But Im kind of assuming that Boyle and Yandle are gone and not replaced by vets. A Raph Diaz type will be brought in. McIlrath and Skjei wont have to compete with unaccountable big name vets. Also hoping under that scenario that a 2nd year Gorton is more assertive and could take away marginal roster player toys that AV is playing with too much. I think AV made Gorton look bad this year by burying Etem (who btw is now up to 14-15 mpg, though not points production to speak of).
They should of course listen to all offers for Yandle
but unless someone blows us away with an offer, i wouldnt move him. Put another way - getting a mid 20s overall pick back for Yandle and essentially punting this season doesnt do much for us. You're talking about maybe a useful 3rd line player in a few years - that's not enough return.
Now if something can be worked out where Yandle gets moved for Shattenkirk without giving up too much on top of that... let's talk (though I fear that deal would be something like Yandle + McIlraith for KS since we'd have 5 right-handed D)
Really hoping Florida looks to add a veteran defenseman (note: they need one) and payroll now that they're selling out weekend games - get Girardi or Staal to waive their NMC to raise a family in state income-free South Florida!!
...it would be nice to keep Yandle but they made their commitments to Staal and Girardi. Maybe multiple trades are in the mix. It depends on how you look at 2013 but did they "sell" Gaborik (getting Brassard, Dorsett, and John Moore) along with the acquiring Ryane Clowe?
If they can move Yandle (even though he is the best D the Rnagers have) for younger players, with a parallel deal to get something back, it doesn't set the team back. The window is closing but a smart trade can slow the closing process or if Gorton is a shrewed GM, transition to the next core while remaining competitive.
no one knows what we can or will do re: Yandle, plus is a silly way to look at the situation..."oh these two particular people are causing problems". This guy would cost a lot no matter what. It's a question of whether you want to do a deal like that in general. Not just for Yandle.
Anyway....
Was there an actual explanation re Simmonds? I am saying this completely lacking sarcasm: Why don't we just do exactly what has been done to us if its legal. By not suspending this asshole you are simply saying its not illegal even though it's a major, and a match misconduct ejection penalty. So if that's not suspendable why don't we just throw cheapshots whenever we feel like it? Who can say its illegal when its not?
is a little toilet bug. He loves skating thru the crease and giving Henrik a little slash. I hope someone puts him thru the fuckin boards. Fantasy Camp for this idiot.

I'm talking about the pass with 20 seconds left after we had possession of the puck and could have walked it out of the zone and probably had a pretty easy EN. Instead lazy fucking pass treating the puck like a fucking grenade. Pathetic.
Why is yandle one of just two LD on our roster ... Manning RD on the power play? Awful awful play but partly caused by having to go backhand on a simple redirect up the boards
Nice win, a bad play by Yandle who otherwise has been excellent. Shouldn't overshadow what was a really solid effort against a good team and great goalie.
how in the hell can the league rule the way they did? Are they saying Simmonds was justified somehow and it's ok to sucker punch a player in the jaw potentially fucking his career up?! This is a head injury incurred not in the context of play rather it was an unmitigated punk fucking move by a guy who is known for playing on the edge. It's a fucking injustice beyond belief!

Stufftherun - I share your frustration but the Rangers host the Flyers on Sunday. Let's see what kind of team the Rangers have.

Drew - Regardless of who's on the ice for the blueshirts you can be rest assured the league will put the on ice officials on high alert and they'll do everything they can to keep things from getting out of control. I'd love to see The Rath put Simmonds in the hospital but that doesn't help McD recover from a concussion and it doesn't answer the question as to why the league took no action.
It's amazing how good Lundqvist is and how rarely he shuts teams out.
I feel like there have been 10-15 games this year where the only goals against were on special teams.
I feel like the late goal to breakup a shut out has been a staple of his career. I wonder whether other great goalies are the same, because of the late onslaught from teams that are trailing.
to get their act together. Zuc, Miller and Brassard have been pulling the sled. Somebody else needs to step-up. Maybe Nash will get some fire before he crashes and burns in the playoffs...
I really get no joy out of piling on the guy because he's had a very good career for them, particularly for an undrafted guy, but he's just completely cratered since the 2014 playoffs.
Those type of plays kill me. It's a total confidence and even coaching thing. He didn't do that with this frequency in prior years. It's just stupid hockey - not a physical limitation.
about how he plays hurt (never mind that no one but AV wanted him trying to play hurt with more talented players in the press box)
(note: at this moment with McD out and lack of cap space its a good thing though)
And in fairness to that GIF above, most of our guys treat the puck like a fucking grenade this year. Stepan committed an act just as pitiful last night to close out the game. Glass does it 5x per game. Staal has done it all year. Confidence or are these guys just not as hard working as they used to be?
SURELY there must be other people who are playing poorly, and the struggles cant be all Girardi's fault. Therefore, by implication, not worth talking about.
Can't wait for the wacky hijinks sure to come from the inevitable Staal-Girardi pairing!
Gotta get healthy.
Flyers broadcast is even worse...

Tough spot for you, eh Mike? I think you have to pull for the Debbies in this one. This is kind of like Mets/Red Sox-ish for you.
We can only hope, because if he's getting the kind of deal Byfuglien got then he's long gone.
ridiculous to say at this point

*puts entire life savings on the Rangers*

So I'll pass on the copycat approach.
Seriously, wtf was he thinking?
Got a 10-minute misconduct for flipping a piece of broken stick into the crowd.
Manbearpig?
Very punchable face
Deej where you bro? You didn't want to throw marek Malik in there?
Dude had 77 assists in 93-94. 89 points total. What a fuckin season!

Didn't he also spend some time in the minors that season as well as a healthy scratch that season?

I know what I know. Pre-1990s Rangers history I dont know.
Yandle does make some risky passes and in that spot there was absolutely no need for it.
It was everyone's hero Yandle.
I absolutely hate it. It's not right. He's been good for them too

Haha that's wonderful
Played well last night though. And there's no reason why he can't continue to play well..with limited minutes on the third pairing.
