...that's a lot of money for a physical player on the wrong side of 30. I guess there is always a possibility to move a contract in the right situation. Ranger fans - I doubt this means Girardi or Staal are on the move. But as someone mentioned above, it may set a precedent to recoup some of the assets lost in the trades the last few years. Mike (Long Beach) - Hamonic's contract looks better and better!

Which again would be after the season...Isles should be able to get a very decent return given his ability but more importantly, when valuing his insanely friendly contract. He picked the right year to play the best hockey of his life.
Dion Phaneuf and Keith Yandle are different players on different terms. Phaneuf is a long term commitment while the team acquiring Yandle will have him at half his salary (Phoenix picked up half) and will need to allocate cap space if the acquiring team has long term plans to keep Yandle. I wish the Rangers could keep him but they don't have the space.
Feel/pg - I agree with you. Hamonic's contract makes him a great asset.
that a budget team like the Senators would be willing to take on what is generally considered a bad contract for a declining player. Just seems like an awful use of your limited resources.
Now there's precedent for the Rangers to unload Girardi and/or Staal. Get it done Gorton!
NYerInMA - as much as I think a move like that would really help alleviate the cap concerns, I will be shocked if Gorton could pull it off. It gives the Rangers hope but it's difficult for me to envision the Rangers being able to pull it off.

I can see the Ducks making a move for Yandle. They'd be a good trade partner for the Rangers since they have a couple of good, young D.
Maybe the forced increased usage of Yandle in McDonagh's absence will lead the Rangers to re-evaluate and try to re-sign him (or maybe they've had a plan all along - who knows).
If you factor only what the Sens have to pay him, it's like a $6.5 per year deal. Not great, but not bad for a #2 guy either.
Getting rid of Greening & Cowen is a blessing - they were due to make $7.5 next year. Michalek was decent but always hurt and not worth $4M.
Phaneuf is exactly what the Sens need for the next 3 years. He's a second pairing LD. He doesn't have to face the same tough minutes he faced in Tor, Karlsson does that with Methot. I like this for the Sens, we're a better team.
I'd say the probability of a beating greatly exceeds the time machine
Lou comes in and somehow gets TO out of long term cap hell. Stamkos is smiling.
This. Getting ready to offer Stamkos $10M plus per year to come back home. Folks in the Tampa area are holding out hope that Stamkos stays in town, but I don't see it happening.

No other players are worth a crap.
The 2nd should've gone the other way.
Hamonic needs to change his mind and stay.

I know, but I like to dream about such things. ;)

Hey I am not one to rain on anyone's parade. Girardi for a 2nd!

Or finds a time machine and tightens his chinstrap.

Yeah, Patrick Kearns was being a smartass retweeted a tweet from Dreger from 2010
