Was act like a punching bag. One game does not a long winning streak mean but it is where one starts. Here is to keeping the hard work and winning going. KO is usually a streaky player, maybe he goes on a run here.

He's been playing acceptably lately, which I never thought I'd say.

Because Capuano always says he sticks with what works, so they win with strait in so he's playing again but doesnt seem to go for the goalie. I just wonder who Greiss pissed off. He is a main reason they were where they were at so far and now he has only played 1 game in 5 and he wasnt even the backup in 2 of them i think. He isnt hurt. Just weird

Pga said yesterday goaltending wont be a future headache but I'll believe that when I see it. We are always searching for that top goalie it seems.

I can't recall a single game where he wasn't at least OK.

Halak is a guy who carried Montreal farther in that postseason than they ever should have gone. He's a guy who's been there and had success before. Griess, as great as he's been, is a loaded question mark. I do not think it's time to pull the plug on Halak as our starter, but there is a conversation to be had now, and I never ever thought that'd be the case.

Ha, enjoy the game BronxBombers. The Jackets are the closest thing I have to a second team in sports. Went to college in Columbus, watched the team's fan base grow, and watched them become a real competitor two years ago. A bunch of my college buddies are season ticket holders now.

Hated when they moved you guys to the East and we had to directly compete with you, but I hope the Jackets become a force again soon.

As for Halak, I've seen enough. He's like Prince. Got the talent, plays great, gets hurt, stinks coming back. He was great in playoffs last year but in the reg season he gives up so many softies. I feel like its an isles curse, goalies giving up weird or soft goals

But he's the best goalie on our team. I almost feel he hasn't played enough because of the injuries and 3rd goalie. Here played well in the playoffs last season. He's not a great goalie but he's good and Greiss deserves to play 40% of the time IMO.

What do you think it will take to get him.

I think Wheeler from Winnipeg could also be a nice fit for us next to JT. Probably a long shot since he's under a (relatively) good contract, but if we traded Hamonic for Trouba--Trouba being a FA who will command much more money) demanding a Wheeler - Bailey swap, or something like that, might be a nice bargaining chip for Garth as well.

I'm not good at matching up fair trades but if they need to move Ladd then maybe the kid from the vanek trade gets moved and a draft pick

To get Dubinsky. I also would then want a coach who would actually deploy him to annoy the top star on the other team and not match top line vs top line so john tavares can look foolish in his own zone

I assure you there's not a soul on this thread who isn't equally pissed. Kwhite and I have had disagreements about certain players and the general state of the team, but he also comes to play when things are going well, too. It gives credence to his distain when it happens.

As for Monday, I would, but it's a day game and I'll be at work, so I had to sell it. Some other time.

Lots of blind passes, not a lot of continuity. Okposo just made a nice diving play... but these guys need to trust each other and, simply put, get it the fuck together.

We were the better hockey team. Coming into tonight, the Islanders had the 2nd worst road record in the East, behind only the Rangers... so that is a gritty, grinded two points.

Islanders are 11-9-2 this year against teams that currently hold a playoff spot... however... 0-3 in their last 3, and 2-5 over their last 7 (Rangers and Stars).

Important to come out, play well, and beat a very good Kings team.

Sorry I've misses a lot of game threads. My 2 and a half year old is not cooperating at all at night so it's been tough to get on. Great 2nd point. Next 4 games are huge. Then we have a 7 game road trip. Need to rack up the points now. Terrible shootout effort by Tavares. Was he doing his best Randy Wood (playoff penalty shot vs rangers) impression on that shootout.

Despite the clunker against Detroit, are playing very well over the last 5 games. Tonight, they outshot CBJ, 39-19 after the first period. I'll lookup the info when it's posted, but the Isles possession numbers for the 2nd and 3rd I'm sure will be very lopsided in their favor. They were the better team for about 45 minutes, including the last 40. They definitely deserved the win. Credit to Korpisalo. Excellent effort.

Isles are 8th in goals per game - with how much they miss the net and how many more goals they could have had this year, I'm actually surprised they were still this high..

14th PP% - not great but still better than 50% of the teams.

Biggest stat to me; They're 2nd in the NHL on the Penalty Kill. This has been the biggest and most obvious improvement for the team this year. Assuming they get into the playoffs, I think this improvement can help sway a series.

The playoff race is really tight and this team has to break the trend of inconsistency. It's time to make a run get a stranglehold on a playoff spot.

It's crazy. On any given night we've found ourselves anywhere between 4 and 9... even 3 when the Rangers slump a little.

I got stuck in a meeting last night, that I thooght would not last as long as it did. I always hate those. That being said Looks like we had a great start to the game then a lapse and then they turned it up big time. Need for Lee to keep scoring on the PP. Will help this team big time.

As for Russell I too like him he would fit perfectly here. As for Boedker I think he would look great next to JT. I has a nice % of goals scored on his shot. I think with JT he would score even more.

He's Thomas Hickey, really. And his point will go down here because he'd be on the lower pairing of defense...I actually think Hickey is more productive if you put him in Calgary!

Both ESPN and NHL.com have Okposo listed as -2 yesterday. But Columbus scored two goals total and Okposo provided the primary assist on Lee's goal.
