it takes two to tango, but I'd be stoked with a trade down.
Lawson rated #13
njm : 2/9/2016 12:02 pm : link
And someone else will update their board tomorrow and have him at #35.

It's going to be an interesting combine for Shak.
Surprised their not
CromartiesKid21 : 2/9/2016 12:07 pm : link
higher on Noah Spence. Think he will be on the Giants shortlist at #10 by the time the draft rolls around.
Remember he was originally at Ohio St. he's not some fall through the cracks/late development prospect that ended up at Eastern Kentucy.
draft grades
area junc : 2/9/2016 12:09 pm : link
ramsey may be overrated right now.
according to the Advisory Board the #1 CB is Eli Apple (8.3) with Ramsey (8.0) #2. Hargreaves, Alexander and desmond King also receiving 1st round grades (tied @7.2)

Tre'Davious white also in the mix. fuller round 2
Comparing CBS to McShay
shyster : 2/9/2016 12:12 pm : link
(who I regard as the touchstone) there is agreement on 7 of the top 8 non-QBs (although not in exact order).

The one exception to the agreement is that McShay drops Myles Jack to 11, while CBS drops Hargreaves to 14.

The suspense is going to be: which (if any) of the top 8 consensus picks drops to the Giants. And whether the Giants take that player -- or draft for DL need.

i posted this last week.

but if there is a QB at 10, LA Rams are a perfect trade partner. Trade down to 16 (still take Shaq Lawson et al) and pick up a 2nd rounder which LA got in the Bradford trade
billings at 15 is very interesting
idiotsavant : 2/9/2016 12:16 pm : link
I wonder if we could trade down and get Ogbah and Billings
Giants' talent level
JonC : 2/9/2016 12:26 pm : link
isn't good enough to draft strictly for need.
I completely agree
shyster : 2/9/2016 12:34 pm : link
that the approach should be BPA. But I'm by no means sure that the Giants would take Jack or Treadwell or Stanley or Hargreaves (if one is there) rather than go DL.
Is #10 too high
bc4life : 2/9/2016 12:41 pm : link
for Alexander?

Uh, isn't King going back to school - White as well?
Really like Hargreaves
RAIN : 2/9/2016 12:56 pm : link
If his combine is anything like his tape .. he's good. His height may ding him a bit.. but he has the look of a #1 corner or FS.

So would I, but it isn't what Reese does.
They have WR Coleman at 23
KWALL2 : 2/9/2016 1:36 pm : link
He should be in the mix for the Giants at #10. He moves in tight spaces like Beckham and Brown (but faster than Both!). Very quick and explosive. Plants, explodes, gets wide open. He'll be a big time weapon in short area but he can also be an elite deep threat in the NFL because he can run by anybody.

Here is our easy 3 step plan to the playoffs in 2016:

Drop Randle. Draft Coleman. Spend big in FA on defense.
bc
JonC : 2/9/2016 1:44 pm : link
Close call. He's a bit short and opinions vary on how he'll test at the Combines. Uber-competitive, rugged, ferocious, instinctive. But might be under 5'10 and not an impact athlete.

Hargreaves is the package but built more slight than NYG tends to prefer. I don't think they'd pass on him unless a DL is in the mix.

When has Reese ever traded down in rd 1? He won't unless some team offers the farm, which they won't.
Reese needs to hit it out of the park on the first round pick
JPinstripes : 2/9/2016 1:59 pm : link
and outside of QB the safest pick to hit on may be the RB from Ohio State Elliott. The kid has a resume that few can dream of. He has size, speed, balance, vision and toughness. Some have compared him to Edge James coming out of college (NFL.COM).

If Reese is going to be graded by Giants ownership on the 1st round pick outcome he may just go RB and take Elliott.

There are a lot of question marks for every defensive player projected available at 10.

In terms of "wow factor", I tend to agree with you. I'm not crazy about any of the DL projected around 10 or Hargreaves. I also don't see a WR there unless someone blows up the Combine.

I dunno... outside of the QB's, everyone on that list plays a position we need help in. I'm not familiar enough with each player to know how well they'd fit our scheme, but I have to think we'll have a #10-worthy grade on quite a few of them.

Hmmm... that's a very good point. Few positions are as likely to contribute tangibly as a rookie as an upper-tier RB.
My 3 favorite defensive players are Hargreaves, Lee, & Buckner
Eric on Li : 2/9/2016 3:21 pm : link
would be very excited to add any of the 3 - whether it's at #10 or via a trade down. Lee plays with athleticism and violence that makes an easy comp with Shazier. Buckner is the most impressive defensive lineman from what I've seen and Hargreaves checks all the boxes at CB.

yes, they are but they still rec'd advisory grades
I fail to see how that's relevant

Are we conducting analysis across drafts now?
It was my understanding
JPinstripes : 2/9/2016 6:30 pm : link
That the draft advisory board does not grade players, rather gives opinion on what round they think the player will be drafted.
I've think that Ezekiel Elliott is gonna be a great RB in the league.
yatqb : 2/9/2016 7:51 pm : link
Reese wouldn't be making a mistake if Elliott was his pick...but he'd better hit a HR in FA defensive players if he's gonna do that.

Gotta expect, as JonC says, that CB, DE and WR are Reese's preferred positions, so if there's gold there when 10 comes up, Reese will go that way.
