He's 31. Solid, productive, durable player for most of his career, a couple of excellent years and wouldn't be a bad sign, but he's probably more of a 3rd safety than a guy you want to pencil in as a starter.
9 year solid starter, only missed 3 games to injury in 9 years. 2X Pro Bowler. Not sure how much he's dropped off but at 31, i'd definitely give this guy a real look. We need players at that position.
Has season tickets even though he lives in NYC, either goes to all the games or watches them on tv, etc. (Our bath mat is a Tennessee Titans mat, lol.)
He said this year that Griffin has been "stealing money" from the Titans for years; was getting paid way above his value. According to him, Griffin had 1 or 2 good stretches of games across 1 or 2 seasons and has been living off it ever since.
Titans fans will be very happy to see him go; just food for thought.
Griffin has made close to $40MM in his NFL career. He probably doesn't need to move to New Jersey to scratch out a final vet-min paycheck.
If he has a lot left, he'll have other options closer to home, for similar money. If he doesn't, he's not going to help the Giants much. The truth is probably somewhere between "still in his prime" and "fork in his back, stealing the Titans' money". Some of the negative feeling toward him in Tennessee was related to the $8MM cap number he carried the past couple of years.
I guess for fans who lament the decision to let Rolle walk, Griffin looks pretty good. And he certainly would have been better than the slop we had opposite Collins this year.
Might be a good 2 year rental.
Even with stealing the paycheck, maybe a change of scenery, and a chance to be that veteran S or DB to teach Behre/Thompson/whoever we pick this year how to play the position, and possibly a spot start might be worth the look.

He's 31, so your contract target should be shorter term and not open market dollars.

A healthy Schwartz has value. But with the injury risk that value is nowhere near his cap figure.
