I am told that neither Geoff Schwartz nor Will Beatty was approached by Giants about taking a pay cut. Team just moving on.
Wow

Definitely Bloody Wednesday.
Unless we replace them with a pillow and a bag of marshmallows

The team just got tougher.
Wow, thanks for this.

I think this is very very telling. Looking into my crystal ball here, I think we will see more cuts soon. They are cutting bait with injured players. I hope they have a plan to sign some OL FA.
This is excellent news..

A spring cleaning is indeed necessary.

Beatty was a serviceable player at best, also seemed unwilling to play hurt or out of position.

Schwartz was a total bust. I think he did more talking/interviews while here than actually playing.

Beason was a very good player who had a chance to be great but his body said no. The writing was on the wall by the time Carolina took a 7th rounder for him.

I hate to sound insensitive but I hope the hits keep coming. I wish all of these guys the best, just not here.

I was thinking the same RE: Schwartz. The guy had more interviews then snaps. What a joke.
I'm sure he didn't ask for the shattered ankle.

So I don't get the attitude towards him.
Kind of surprised about Beatty

You would think they want to have depth at both tackle positions, also in the even Flowers has sophomore slump.

Because he got paid! Everyone knows that a salary trumps all, so he's earned all the derision because he cashed a game check he was too hurt to earn.

Or something like that...
Beatty not trying to give it a go at the end of the season probably

did him in.

And Schwartz did try to play hurt. His problem was that he was ALWAYS hurt.
Of course shattering an ankle
Chris684 : 2/10/2016 12:49 pm : link
is out of one's control but let's not pretend it wasnt always something else while he was here.

He was part of an o-line that aside from Flowers, was called out by an ex-player for not being on the practice field. Not the fans, an ex-player.

Throw in the fact that he always seemed to be the first one to talk to the media then yea, not surprising that he wasnt exactly a fan favorite in 2 years.
Once Beatty didn't play second half of last season
djm : 2/10/2016 12:50 pm : link
The writing was on the wall. Whether Beatty could have played and instead chose the surgery matters less than the fact that the Giants never got the chance to see if Beatty could man the RT spot. Beatty didn't play and subsequently didn't ensure that his presence in 2016 would stabilize RT and even LT to an extent. He was all but gone the second he went on season ending IR last season.

Flowers was always going to be the LT in 2016 but the RT spot could have been Beatty's if he showed something last season. Maybe the Giants knew along... Now it's official..
Beatty was never going to play the RT
Aspano! : 2/10/2016 12:55 pm : link
spot. It hurts his value as a free agent. The Giants probably said RT or you're gone, and he decided to test the waters instead. Probably amicable from both sides.
Per my recollection,

O'Hara missed practices and games too. Not sure why he would be calling out players. In fact, he kinda screwed us in '10 when he came back against Philly, as Suebert was the better center.
Good. Reminds me in a way of the post 1983 off season

Bill whacked a bunch of dead wood, turned over about 1/3 of the roster.
Addition by subtraction

Don't want them back at any price.
I thought Beatty might be cut,
Doomster : 2/10/2016 9:12 pm : link
but not before the draft and free agency....
