Top OL in free agent market. Anyone know what Buffalo is saying about signing him to a long term deal? Him and Flowers would be nice bookends for a long time. Thoughts?
he's tagged or signed before free agency starts I think Reese does his due diligence and brings him in. However being the top O-lineman on the market, and a LT no less, Glenn is looking most likely to get PAID. Would love to get him and pair him with Flower. Just not sure we'll pay his asking price
but Mitchell Schwartz may be a possibility. His brother didn't want to play alongside him for whatever reason and he's gone now so unless Geoff is in his ear complaining and telling him he shouldn't go there, I'd say there's at least a chance.
He's become one of the better tackles in the game. Doubt they let him walk. Kelechi Osemele, Bobby Massie, Kelvin Beachum are more realistic options. Maybe even Phil Loadholt if the Vikings decide to move on from him.
The Bills have significant OL needs (ORT and probably a G, too - sound familiar?), and will let somebody else go (Mario Williams, probably a LB, maybe somebody else) to make sure that they can keep Glenn even if they have to franchise him.
And Glenn wants OLT money and is not going to play ORT for anyone.
The GIANTS drafted Flowers as their OLT of the future. So there's no way that they move him to ORT. If they were going to do that, they would not have cut Beatty.
So there is no scenario that brings Glenn to the GIANTS.
And I agree with stretch234 that Glenn is not really a premier OLT anyway. I watch him play a lot, and I would rather have a developing Flowers because I think he will be a better player in the not too distant future.
The GIANTS should be looking for a veteran ORT that they can sign, and probably a Guard who is better than John Jerry, too.
by about $3.5 million. The Bills "have to" make some moves if they want to retain Glenn. I'm not saying they can't do it. It's already been rumored that they will release Mario Williams $12.9 Million (Cap Savings) but $7 Million (Dead Money). Mario is a 4-3 DE playing in a 3-4 for I believe the rumors myself.
If they release Mario, Giants should go after Mario on a 2-3 year deal IMHO. The Giants defense could use some veteran leadership. If not, they will have plenty of trouble retaining Glenn. Exclusive franchise tag would cost them around $11.67 Million. I haven't looked to deep into though. Maybe there are other moves they can make or made that I didn't see.
And they are almost certainly done with Mario Williams, who has been critical in public (with good reason in my opinion) of Rex Ryan's defensive schemes that often have their DLs in short area pass protection.
As before, the Bills will do whatever they have to do to keep Cordy Glenn. More of their defenders are certain to go, it's just a question of who, but it will probably include a LB or two.
As for the GIANTS signing Mario Williams, I would not touch him with a twenty foot pole. I've been watching him since he signed with Buffalo and he's another of those over-priced, under-productive guys. He will want a TON and a HALF of money, isn't strongly motivated, and isn't worth what he will get from somebody else.
...they are freeing up money to go after a reliable O-lineman in free agency. Replacing Beatty AND Schwartz with either Glenn or Mitchell Schwartz is a huge upgrade since Beatty and Schwartz rarely played.
that's a bummer
Too bad a "do over" wasn't called on that coin flip. :-)
What an epic fuck up that ended up being.

I wouldn't call it a "fuck up"--it just didn't work out well due to injury.

Is he an overall better player than Bhaktiari, Kalil, Joeckel, Reiff, Robinson, Monroe
He is not worth what he is going to demand
