and I find that casual fans tend to think he is a better Batman or Wayne.
He actually wasn't a very faithful interpretation of the character. Wayne is a billionaire playboy, but he is also likeable. Bale didn't capture the likeable side of Wayne imo.
for the Nolan style. Keaton was better for Tim Burton's films and for facing off against Jack Nicolson's Joker and Danny DeVito's Penguin.
There is probably some truth to that statement.
I'm bias because I'm not a fan of the "realistic" Nolan Batman. I'm of the opinion that Batman was never intended to be realistic. I'm not sure why Millenials need everything gritty and realistic, but they took the fun out of it, and Bale took the fun out if Batman.

Agree with this - they were in vastly different movies. Keaton played Batman in a quasi-cartoon film. Bale was much better as a more realistic action hero
And just my opinion, but Bale's Batman voice never bothered me
Agreed. The Arkham Asylum games are the best depiction outside of the comics. The capture the detective side of Batman, and have the gritty stuff the young fans like, bit they don't lose any of the fun or fantastic elements.
A good example is Freeze, he could never exist in the Nolan films the way he is portrayed in that game.

I agree, but my example would have been Killer Croc. Freeze was probably my favorite "villain" in it.
Killer Croc is hard to get right and he was pretty scary in it. The killer croc in the Suicide Squad previews doesn't look convincing, plus it would be hard to do an 8 foot tall version in an extended role-live action movie and still be convincing.
If Batman were real, it would be 1980s Donald Trump going out at night dressed as a bat to beat up muggers, catch John Gotti and get the goods on Leona Helmsley.

No, Batman isn't fun. Batman isn't really the campy character from the 60s TV show and even the Keaton films were too campy. Batman is actually a very dark and gritty character and comic.
But, I liked Bale's Batman, including the voice. I don't know why so many people have a problem with the voice. It is part of the disguise. Even Keaton did a little bit of the deeper, darker voice for Batman. I find Bale and Keaton 1 and 1a for Batman.
Initially, I thought the casting of Affleck was terrible. While I think the movie (based on the trailers) looks like it will be bad, I think Affleck seems like a passable Wayne and Batman.
Funny thing is that Affleck will probably be the first body wise guy to actually look like the guy from the comics for both Bruce Wayne and Batman. Clooney was too old when he did it but he was a good Bruce Wayne. Keaton had the broody demeanor of Wayne.
Bruce Wayne- Keaton
With Keaton, you couldn't really tell
kevin conroy
and the 2nd burton batman was pretty darn dark.

By the 3rd movie - Bales' voice sounded harsh and grating and the whole movie seemed forced.
Keaton was the perfect actor for re-introducing the Batman character.
Bale built upon that in his 1st film and made it better. Bale also had a much better supporting cast in his movies.
darkest moment of any batman film.

Not withstanding the comics.

And the video games are on point.
West
you cannot say those weren't the darkest batman films ever
Keaton's was so campy.............
A pure killing machine. Batman loses it. No one does crazy like Cage.
Warning nsfw
Like an instruction video - ( New Window )
he was good as Batman.
Bale is better.
Keaton was very good as well, he really reeled it in for the Caped crusader, kept his comedy chops in check, but I still have to give the nod to Bale.
Who knows how Ben will do, but I can say I really hated "Man of Steel", so I am not sure how this will turn out.
