Ayers is underrated around these parts. He can't be the main man, but as a complementary part he's pretty good. Would be great to keep him if his price tag is reasonable.
DE. To often injured to start and he is not a great pass rusher. We need a stud pass rushing DE.
We definitely need a top flight pass rusher, without a doubt. But we're still going to need depth, and the DE position right now (bearing in mind both JPP and Ayers are FA) is bare.
Ayers is a good pass rusher and a solid all-around DE. He does get dinged up, but IMO his performance relative to his cost has been pretty good thus far, as long as his price tag remains the same or declines, he's worth it even if you're only penciling him in for 10-12 games a season.
As a pass rush specialist and he wouldn't demand a ton of money. It would be a great under the radar depth signing.
He just won an award for being a stand up citizen and role model. If you know him like I do, you wouldn't be surprised he won it. One of the best guys I have ever had the pleasure of being friends with.

I don't think he's underrated. It seems like *most* want him back and many think he's a top 2 DE.
Personally, I think he's fine as a 3rd DE when healthy (i.e. ~75% of the time), but I really don't want the Giants to rely on him as a starter because he's not a guy you want getting 50+ snaps/game and he's always injured. If he's the #2 DE heading into the draft, it's a virtual lock the Giants are going DE at #10 or #40 so they at least have a couple guys with potential (Owa + pick) that can play a lot of snaps early.
6-10. Nobody wants most of your guys.
Not a UFA. Currently under contract but highly likely to be released due to cap constraints and a high cap number
