NFL Draft Report's Defensive End Research Chart

nflscouting : 2/12/2016 6:40 pm
For my Big Blue buddies. One of the things I do for the league, outside of playing Dr. Watson, to do all the research, is taking the top players at each position & comparing their statistical numbers - both listed & hidden. Here, I took the top ten defensive ends, using DeForest Buckner as the big cheese. Read carefully & if you have any questions, just let me know. Over the next few months, I will be posting the charts to compare "apples & oranges" at each position. Wait until you see the top receiver numbers on Monday. It could make a WR needy team eyeball the veterans a lot more.
Well, enough rambling on, if you like the defensive ends this year, look at this to see who produced;

Thanks Dave!
Been saying it for awhile

Buckner is likely the NYG target at #10if they want to go DL. Bosa will be gone.

But anyway I think Buckner has more upside.

Sy-
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't you speak very highly of Lawson about a month ago? I'm not sure if it was you or Colin, but one of you said he was on par with Bosa?

Sy, do you expect the Giants view Buckner as a DE or DT? I've heard some suggest he plays too high to put inside?
Honestly I am hoping the Giants go 1-2 on defense
blueblood : 2/12/2016 9:56 pm : link
they could use help at DT and DE.. I think they should go FA for LB help.. more experience..

Physical talent is there, he just scares me. I've seen him take plays off, not hustle to the play away from him, stop before the play is over. Oh and he skipped the senior bowl. I worry about what is between the ears, but I have never met him so what do I know...nothing.
According to Dave Te's research
Nomad Crow on the Madison : 2/13/2016 7:15 am : link
Shilique Calhoun should be seriously considered if Buckner is gone.
Lawson
Sy'56 : 2/13/2016 8:13 am : link
is not on par with Bosa. But I am reserving some judgement for the combine with him. I want to see where he tests athletically. I like him a lot...just not sure I like him as a top 10 guy.

Buckner, yes my biggest fear with him is effort. He did take plays off and I think conditioning was an issue. He rarely was off the field. No excuses though. As of now he will be a top 7 grade for me.

Calhoun...I'm pretty much done on grading him. 3rd/4th rounder for me.
Rankins is not an end
jeff57 : 2/13/2016 8:32 am : link
He played a lot of 3-4 end at Louisville, but he's really a 4-3 tackle.
Don/t understand
XBRONX : 2/13/2016 8:40 am : link
Players moving up or down the board based on a couple days of workouts. These guys have years of games plus maybe even a Senior Bowl to judge them on.Teddy Bridgewater had a bad workout and people said he was not an accurate passer despite game film for three years,
Lawson and Calhoun
GiantsLaw : 2/13/2016 9:34 am : link
Also rated pretty highly. Im a bit skeptical of Lawson but those #s help ease my mind a bit.

Keith Hamilton. IMO U play him at both. Bigger version of Tuck. He's starting to become one of the guys I hope is there for us at 10
Keith's son could be the steal of the draft in a later rd

what say you Sy ?
Buckner fits best
wrecking crew : 2/13/2016 11:07 am : link
is in a 3/4 defense. I don't think the giants will draft him.
That is an absolutely excellent scouting report
