i really feel like theres no shot of prince coming back, nor do i truly want him, but i have some level of nervousness we will have a poor player starting due to injury and lack of an actual starting CB on the roster to pair with DRC. Thoughts?
Hayward is probably better off in the slot. Has performed much better there then he has on the outside.
I don't quite get the hate for Prince all of the sudden. His pass rush was fucking terrible & had literally no Safety help with a rookie Landon Collins & a few guys who might not even be in the NFL next year.

Prince and his agent may be asking for far too much money given his history of injuries.
They'll probably throw money at a 3rd corner, too. Boykin is another watch.
Just because he's asking doesn't mean he's gonna get it. The Giants will offer less & they will meet in the middle. Byron Maxwell got 10.5 million last year. The salary cap went up & Prince is way better then Maxwell.
If the Giants have a CB rated higher than the available pass rushers they won't hesitate to take one. None of this factors in free agent acquisitions which will be settled before the draft as well.

Exactly my point, this should be a convo for after FA because they're not guaranteed to get good pass rushers, they may have no choice to go DL.
Not a great group of free agent CBs out there. Josh Norman will be franchised.
Janoris Jenkins. Whose given up at least 5 TDs every year as a pro. His value might be over inflated, because he plays behind a great pass rush.
Sean Smith. He's been good, but he also plays behind a great pass rush & LBs. Also has an All-Pro next to him at Safety.
If you out Prince in the same situation as Norman/Jenkins/Smith he'd be better then all 3 of them.
Sean Smith is a helluva a player. Just a gamer. Despite the line he played behind last year, he played very well with the Fins too. I'd love Smith in FA. Big physical corner who can match up against Dez and even cover guys like Ertz and Jordan Reed.
Slightly above average. There's a reason he only got 12 million guaranteed over 3 years after leaving there. He'd make a big play & then get killed for 3 plays in a row. He's turned into a good player. He wouldn't be a good player if we don't get our pass rush fixed.
The KC defense took a huge step forward once he came back from injury. He's a very good corner w size that a lot of BBI'ers wanted the year he was drafted.
He'd be an upgrade over Prince in every aspect of his game.

If Smith is a great improvement over Prince, then he must be a hell of a cover corner.
Prince is an excellent tackler He had 56 solos in only 11 games, and 76 in 2013 when he played in all 16 games. I know it's hard to make a direct comparison, but Smith only averages 50 solos a year.
He's also no more of a ball hawk that Prince with only 10 picks in seven seasons.
Prince I think has already said that he wants to test free agency, and Jerry seldom chases after players who seem disloyal.
Are these Giant free agents stupid, or do they just get bad advice from their agents?
Starting with Steve Smith and Osi, also Manningham and Tuck and Nicks, they've gone out and signed contracts that, factoring in incentives, are little or no better than the Giants offered them.
Then they get injured or get off to a slow start with new teammates and different schemes, their new teams have little patience with them, and within two years they're out of football.

Corners make a lot of tackles when guys they are covering catch passes.
Prince was corner on two very bad defenses. We probably can be very bad with some guy from East Bumfuck State without paying millions out.
taking that 10 million and investing it into DL would do a lot more than a CB. Since they're essentially starting over, they need to get the horses upfront first.
we just need to fix the pass rush and our corner backs will suddenly
I agree with this, I think Prince and DRC are pretty good. With a decent pass rush they would look very good. No DB's can cover receivers for 5 minutes every play. I think were resign Prince and he starts again game 1.
Believe it or not, Giants' defense in 2013 was ranked 8th
or maybe Prince .... No GM with 1/2 a brain is going to sign him for 10 million per (That is what he is seeking - if the reports are true). He might be back after he dips his toe into what will be frigid free agency waters - at that price.
He might be here, but he'll be injured..

Agreed
Someone in FA.
Perhaps Casey Hayward from GB.

It wouldn't surprise me if Hosley was playing opposite DRC.
Kendall Fuller would be great value in the second. Best of all the Fuller brothers and he's a great natural corner.

They've done it before though when they picked Pugh, that's the closest example I can think of.

You want to see what a difference talent can make?
That defense back seven had Rolle, Hill, Prince and Beason.
Rolle - 80 solo tackles in 16 games, of course
Prince - 76 solos in 16 games
Beason - 65 solos in only 12 games
Hill - 60 solos in only 12 games
If Prince is gone, he'll be the last of the four.

That's the thing... The knock on Prince is not his play, but his injury history.
Good call.
