he's more Osi than Kiwi in style. But laterally quicker than both.
My untrained eyes always saw that as a problem with Kiwi. I think he was a fine athlete for DE, but never looked good on that sideline to sideline movement. He had the power and close quarters speed for line play, but wasn't an open-area athlete.
has terrific length, bend, size, and speed. He can rush, get the edge, and cover. But he doesn’t have the size to hold up against the run as a DE in a 4-3. I’m still OK taking him at #10, but just realize you aren’t getting a complete player. Know what you’re buying, so you’re not disappointed later that it isn’t quite what you thought it would be.
Maybe he can add some weight. But he played at a major D1 football school with excellent training and nutrition. If he could have added the weight, or done so without losing his speed, then he probably already would have bulked up. Goff has the same problem. Spindly and somewhat lanky. Needs to add weight, but again, can he?

Floyd was 244 at the combine... so his weight is up from where it was.

This and still ran a 4.6 40, a 10'6'' broad jump and looked fluid during the positional drills. I know you can't put too much stock on work out alone, but he looked great off the edge in Georgia and would be a good SAM for us.

I think he could play SAM or WILL since apparently he has good cover skills.
No problems there. Looks explosive coming off the edge and is really good in coverage. I think he would really help us covering over the middle and help get this defense off the field on 3rd downs.
He would be a huge upgrade to both- something we have struggled with the past few years. It could be the making of a pretty ferocious third down pass rush this year.

on Keith Marshall, the Georgia RB?
Andy, he's had a ton of injuries at UGA, but the guy has heart and runs hard like Gurley.
If the giants were going to make changes at RB, He'd be a guy I would look at in round 4 or 5. He has home run speed and you know the natural talent/ability is there if he was a 5 star recruit out of high school.
floyd, not at 10 with maybe 10 good true DLers sitting there Â
Didn't do much at the pro day. He had a 35" vert and ran the circles drill. He weighed in at 248 which was 4 lbs heavier than what he weighed at the combine.
the seriousness of not completing his workouts and not participating in the position drills.
'Why wouldn’t I be worthy?,” Floyd said when asked if he was worth a first-round pick. “I mean I played at Georgia. I made plays for Georgia. Why wouldn’t I be?'
Floyd weighed in at 248 pounds, four pounds more that he did at the combine. He may have eaten too much for the weigh-in.
'Most team question my weight and how much I weighed and if I can continue to gain weight', Floyd said. 'That’s the biggest question. I just show with the scale. I weigh in to keep showing them that I’m gaining weight.'”
Think I might rather take a shot at Nkemdiche; at least I know what position he plays. And he's a couple of years younger. Link - ( New Window )
Obviously a good athlete, but sort of blend in with the other good athletes on the Georgia team. Youtube tapes don't really scream an impact player, the Giants seem to be locking onto him though.
Lots of mocks project him to be in the 20's. As things seem to be unfolding, I think the BPA from the consensus top tier that will likely make it to us are Stanley or Hargreaves. I'd probably prefer either to Floyd.
leonard floyd vs Vandy. He's got lots of quickness in the pass rush. Not as great moving in space, but not bad. He's really tough to block. vs. Vandy - ( New Window )
I agree with this. He's got multiple teams, GMs and coaches flying in to see him and he's just kinda taking it easy today. That's a red flag for me honestly, sick or not sick.
From the article - "In between, Floyd was clocked at 4.32 seconds in the short shuttle and 7.18 seconds in the 3-cone. These are times which would have ranked among the best amid pass rushers tested in Indianapolis."
7.18 3 cone for a guy that size is outstanding and a measurable the Giants value highly.

Leonard Floyd said he didn't take part in LB on-field drills at UGA Pro Day because of stomach issues from breakfast.
Already a giant ;-)
Jk!!

Line 'em up, no great mystery about how to use em.
That said, a great mike in 2 or 3 is not out of the question.
Whereas a Floyd sounds like a project as to how to use
He's strictly a LBer, and the fact that they converted him from DE to LB to me indicates that he cant play against an OT for 50 snaps a game.
Still, this pick would make me nervous.
another tweener DE/LB who scored well in the combine.
do we run a 3-4 or 4-3?
Mike Mayock thinks its a good pick since he has Floyd as the best edge rusher in the draft outside of Bosa

Shitting yourself in front of a bunch of NFL talent evaluators and media would probably be quite embarrassing.

keep him from at least attempting the drills? I know Jerry must be pissed.

Go take a shit and then come out and attempt the drills. Can't imagine him skipping the drills for a tummy ache, reflects well on him with teams
he ate a shitload of food and water so that he can weigh in heavier than his combine.
obviously thats why he couldnt complete his workout.
If you told me he is like JPP coming out of college, I might get excited. I'm not too excited about a comparison to Kiwi.

Really Bad.
Honestly, I'd drop him a tier.
