Will Hill Suspended 10 Games

DaddyM89 : 3/16/2016 5:19 pm
not a surprise, a lot of BBIers were expecting news like this to come out.

Adam Schefter on Twitter: "Ravens' S Will Hill has been suspended 10 games for violating NFL's substance abuse policy, league sources @caplannfl and me."

debate on your stance on the marijuana debate. This is a sad incident where a young man simply can't avoid smoking weed when he knows his job and career are on the line. He now has 4 strikes against him and it is evident that he has a real problem and will never stop smoking.
I've been surprised by his difficulty because people I've spoken to
Ira : 3/16/2016 6:51 pm : link
who have engaged in this indulgence have told me it's not in the least bit addicting physically the way cigarettes and alcohol and other drugs are. And that's my run-on sentence for today.
A few thoughts
Matt M. : 3/16/2016 6:52 pm : link
1) This policy has no comparison to the pills taken for pain, as one poster mentioned. This is part of a substance abuse policy. For the most part, pain medication is taken under the guidance and supervision of team physicians or as prescribed by personal physicians.

2) Even prescribed substances can be legal, but violate the substance abuse policy (i.e. adderall)

3) The legality, in general, is irrelevant. As with any employer, the NFL determined a set of rules by which its employees must abide. This is no different than any company that chooses to test its employees for drugs and include marijuana as a forbidden substance they test for. That is perfectly OK.

4) Why anyone still feels sorry for Hill is beyond me. First of all, he has well more than the requisite 2 or 3 chances we tend to give our athletes. All he has shown is that he hasn't learned a thing and can't control himself. I hope he gets help just so there is one less person addicted on the street. But, I don't care if he ever plays another down again. That is also derived from the fact that besides having no self-control, he has also proven himself to really be a shitty human being.
Evil weed!

I had thought that cutting Will Hill was Reese's single worst mistake and given the state of the safeties as recently as now, would have said so. Believed that watching every Giants game last year watching Merriweather, Dahl, etc. That said, and I know it doesn't change anything, how the hell are they still testing for marijuana use in this day and age?

The truth is that he lost a whole more. He had a bright future...he could have worked for me as long as he wanted. He had a 150k/year job, with a new demo. A young family with twin boys.

Was it worth it??

NEW JERSEY (PIX11) — For more than three months now, I’ve been trying to find troubled Giants football star Will Hill.

Now, it looks like he’ll successfully duck me because the Giants cut him a couple of days ago. They’d had enough. Hill had been suspended three times for violating the NFL’s drug policy.

I was trying to find him on behalf of Jameelah Wiliams of West Orange. That happens to be where Will Hill grew up.

Jameelah rented him a beautiful home there. To say he trashed it is an understatement.

“I’m really disgusted with him. This is such a beautiful house,“ Jameelah told me back in February. “My grandparents lived here for so long. We just have so many great memories. And we really just wanted to keep the house in our family. But he destroyed it.”

Jameelah says everything in the house was new before Hill moved in. But she says the former Giants defensive back made a dogs breakfast out of her family’s property. Indoor paintball games on the new hardwood floors. Maggot infestations, holes in the walls, dog feces from his four pit bulls and dirty bathtubs.

“The grand total including loss of income from the months we couldn’t rent it was about $15,000.”

Jameelah says she agreed with one of Will Hill’s financial advisers to settle for just $2,500. Better to get something than nothing, she thought. But they didn’t even follow through on that. And when I went to their offices, they were no help and asked us to leave.

Hill’s agents likewise offered no help.

When I went to Giants Stadium on the first day of drills last week, Hill apparently had already split. Then a few days later, the Giants got rid of Mr. Trouble.

So where does that leave Jameelah? Out all that money, although she thinks karma is catching up to Will Hill.

That karma has him now with the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League, at least while he sits out his latest NFL suspension.

Me? I’m just disgusted with him and all his enablers. At least the Giants aren’t playing his game anymore.

And yet Will Hill is in fact an idiot for understanding and then ignoring the rules in the NFL. If you can't see that, please stop discussing the topic?

How many jobs out there require routine piss tests?

A lot. Ever worked for the government in any capacity? Random drug tests all the time. Bottom line is that its against the rules and you know it when you take the job. If you cant handle it then find another job.

He was give a chance to play in the NFL after he almost smoked it away.

While with the team who backed him, he lied to the owner of the team, who signs his check, and smoked it away.

He was given his 15th chance with the gift of the Ravens and he smoked that away.

Here is 1 of the rules of your employment, which well compensates you - do not smoke weed because it is illegal

i personally do not think that weed is addictive. I DO think it just makes you fucking stupid (sorry to offend the BBI pot smokers).

You have so many companies that test for drugs. People are risking their average paying jobs because they want to get high. If these high paid athletes are willing to risk million dollar dream jobs for bong hits, then you know that the guy working an office job somewhere will do it.

I don't feel sorry for him at all. You feel sorry for someone whose career was taken away by an injury or an accident. This was a bad decision that he made MULTIPLE TIMES. He knew he could lose his NFL career over this and STILL CHOSE to roll the dice anyway.

Thousands of kids would be willing to give anything for the chance that Will Hill threw away. Fuck him.

I know folks that smoke just about daily. I know folks who have lost union jobs (suspended really....) due to pot and can't get their job back cause they can't "quit" long enough.

I thought that pot wasn't addicting.

I hope the kid gets it and bounces back. You have to remove all people, places and things that bring you to or near marijuana. Complete lifestyle and friend change. Not easy but a must.

Prayers sent. This isn't smart on his part, no, but addiction comes in many forms and all are hurtful: pornography, gambling, over-eating, couch potato, computer surfing, alcohol, Rx, sex, etc.

They say over 50% of people face an addiction in life that threatens their life and happiness in a major league way - at some point anyway. It isn't unusual and shouldn't be shamed but treated. The NFL doesn't play with marijuana.

He's effectively said: The experience of getting high is worth more than the millions he could be making through abstinence"
That's a value judgement. And who is to say he's wrong? We should respect his call, stop trying to impose our values on him and all move on.
The folks I feel sorry for are the Moronic cretins who subscribe to the theory that someday it will be legal so what the league is doing now is reactionary. That has nothing to do with it. Nothing and I'm not going to waste words telling them why. Explaining the self evident is more difficult than explaining the obtuse.

You might want to find a case a little more worthy of rooting for - this isn't just a good kid with a MJ problem, it's a guy who's been arrested for failing to make child support payments, a guy who ransacked his landlord's apartment, agreed to make restitution of only about a tenth of the damage and back rent he owed, and failed to pay even that.

This isn't just a guy with a drug problem - he's a raging asshole with a drug problem.
