Imo Conklin is a more powerful and aggressive run blocker but doesn't have those LT feet that Stanley has. Conklin could be a very good RT or a great RG. Stanley seems a more ideal LT and less of a dominant RT.
floyd...lol all jokes aside i DO NOT want a OT at ten...we need an impact player at LBer and could use an impact WR or RB...OBJ is our ONLY big time player on offense and on defense we have a nice Dline but lack a playmaker...TBH i think collins is going to have a MONSTER year now that he will play down at the LOS but we could really use a guy to cover and rush passer...hence floyd is my pick, landon plays the run and floyd covers the TE
He's Jon Runyan part 2. You can plug him in at RT and not worry for 10 years, or 2 years if he comes here and gets Denghe fever or whatever curse awaits anyone who walks into Giants HQ.
That you can never have too many pass rushers, wouldn't the flip side hold true as well. You can never have too many quality Tackles. We preach the importance of a pass rush but it would seem to me that keeping your QB up right is equally important.
I like Conklin better than Stanley. Stanley's demeanor worries me. He's too finesse for my liking. Conklin is gritty. He's a fighter. An overachiever, which can be good or bad.
I'm not very high on Stanley though. I think he'll be over drafted.
That's about normal - about six players go into the Hall of Fame every year. So that means, in a normal year, about six Hall of Fame players enter the league.
Just get one of those. Any position, I don't care. Get a Hall of Famer.
and Conklin fits that bill more than Stanley. I'd love to be able to run the ball down other teams' throats. That would open things up for our passing game while also allowing us to control the clock at the end of games.
That IS the biggest reason we blew all those 4th quarter leads - the defense was spent. Conklin all the way, is what I'd recommend.
Jerry's basically told us what he going to do. He's said that Newhouse was brought here as a reserve, so who plays RT ? - the new guy.
He's patched-up the defense via free agency - DT, DE & linebacker.
He ran off the team's #2 receiver (Randle) and he didn't spend the money to get Marvin Jones or Muhammed Sanu, so that means he's going after one of the top four draft receivers ....
Either with his 1st pick (I really like Coleman) or a trade-up to get another first rounder. I like Doctson in that scenario).
It would be great to trade down here and take Decker in the first. But I think I am at the point where I am just rooting for any pick other than Lawson or Floyd.
I like his grit, toughness and leadership but more than anything I think his athleticism is underrated, especially compared to Stanley.
The guy battled all season. Against Oregon he won the one on one battle against Buckner, who is expected to be a top 5 pick. He gave it his all against Ohio State's tough defensive front to set up a Big Ten championship. And speaking of defensive lines, he was MSU's best offensive player against Alabama in the CFB playoff.
Stanley faced Lawson and it was clear that Lawson won the battle in that game. That's arguably the only real NFL prospect he faced all season. And contrary to popular opinion I don't like Stanley's footwork. When he's in trouble, as he was against Clemson, there are lapses in technique that cost him. I also don't like the talk about work ethic and mental makeup.
For those that wondered about Conklin's foot speed I wonder if it was one of the games after his knee injury. Otherwise I have no issue with his foot speed. In fact I think he did himself justice by losing some weight between the end of the season and the combine. It's without question better than Flowers and we took him eighth overall.
I think Stanley is another example of an ND player getting the Irish bump. It's not to say that he can't get better or that he's not a first rounder but the hype is going a bit far for me. Conklin is a gritty technician with underrated athleticism, versatility (starts at both LT and RT in his career) and leadership. I have no issue with him at 10. In fact, given how things are expected to shape up, it's who I want there.
Both are excellent college tackles who should (not will) have good pro careers but both have their warts.
You have the underdeveloped athlete with a work ethic issue vs the tough minded grinder who appears to relish trench play.
Neither is worth the 10th pick IMO. You might take Stanley at 15 because he's a LT and Conklin at 18-20 because he's a RT who's not a great athlete.
All of that said, for the Giants in the NFC East, I'd take Conklin and put him at RT for a decade.

Between Conklin, Floyd & Elliott there are so many great choices for the Giants. If it's going to be Oline again, I don't want a repeat of Beatty, I'd go with Conklin and get the running game going.
IMO you stay away from guys like that. Doesn't mean he won't be good but there is more risk involved than with Stanley.
your an idiot.
I also really like Conklin. But you made me pick one.
Based on Pugh history, any statements of this front office about ability to play LT should be accepted with skepticism.

If you're going to call someone else an "idiot," you should probably use the correct form of "your"

Beckham may be one. More of that, please.
