Asshat info from Giants message board

muhajir : 4/3/2016 2:54 am
Not sure of the posters credibility but interesting tidbits nonetheless.

"Breaking Insider Information!!!
I have a buddy in the Giants FO. Every once in a while he'll drop me some knowledge of what's going on on the inside of the Giants Organization. Here is what I was able to get from him on the draft.

- Ramsey is the #1 guy on their board by far. They expect him yo go in the first 3 picks. However if he makes it to 3 the Giants will be on the phone making sure San Diego is where he is going. If SD doesn't plan in drafting him the Giants will try to trade up and get him to play S and keep him out of the Cowboys hands.

- Hargreaves and Floyd are the targets. Hargreaves is the higher rated prospect but he told me either of the two will make them happy. They like Floyd's versatility a lot. Spags wants him blitzing from every angle. Plus the ability of Him, Kennard, and Thomas to play multiple LB spots gives them flexibility.

- They a very confident that their 2nd round pick will be a good one. They are very high on a number of guys. They want to develop one of their younflg safties but they do love both Karl Joseph and Vonn Bell. They love bells coverage ability while they like what Joseph does both in the run and pass game. They also are EXPLORING Hunter Henry the TE from Arkansas. He isn't the top guy but they won't be mad if he is the best guy on the board by then.

- There will be an offensive lineman drafted within the first 3 rounds. They like tackle Taylor Decker a lot but think he can be had in the 2nd. Another guy they like is Cody Whitehair. They don't believe he can't play RT.

- On Reggie Ragland - "We think he can definitely play and it makes sense with Landon but at the same time he is much like Jasper and we've been trying to add a new dimension with our LB core. We want faster, quicker, more agile guys. That's not to say we WONT draft him. You never know how the board is gonna fall."

- The Giants have been keeping an eye on RBs Alex Collins, Kenyan Drake, and Keith Marshall. They think Alex can be that solid back that takes the load while they like the explosive ability of both Drake and Marshall and that they have low mileage on them

- They also aren't opposed to adding another guy on the interior of the D-line. "There is so much talent there. We can get a good guy to solidify that middle. We've gone lot of bodies there as is though." Andrew Billings is a guy they love because of his age and upside. Being just 20 there isn't a rush for him to be immediately on the field and he can eventually replace Hankins. They see Kenny Clark of UCLA as a guy that reminds them of Linval Joseph and love the ability of Vernon Butler and Maliek Collins to penetrate as 3ts. "We spent a lot on Harrison. A lot. But we feel good about it. He seems enthusiastic."

- On Nkemdiche: "Man. If he's there in the 2nd. We will be having a lot of Internal discussions."

- on WRs the only name that really came up were Sterling Shepard, Leonte Carroo, and Braxton Miller."

love asshat info

thanks.

please no Braxton
Braxton has real skills
allstarjim : 4/3/2016 3:30 am : link
If he's there in the 4th (and I don't expect him to be), then he's a steal. Great speed, and once he sharpens up at the position he'll be a great player in the NFL.
Clearly they are not looking for a second #1 WR opposite OBJ
BlueLou : 4/3/2016 4:13 am : link
No matter what the BBI Madden players want!

One wonders if they consider Hargreaves a possible conversion project to FS.
Thanks. This seems to make a lot of sense - except trading up to

the third pick which could cost most of our entire draft.

That's the part that makes this asshattery look like an April 1st edition.
drafting a DT to replace Hankins
Reb8thVA : 4/3/2016 7:00 am : link
Seems like we would be stuck on the treadmill of replacing players rather than filling other holes. It's a recipe for continued mediocrity if not worse.
great post
Allen in CNJ : 4/3/2016 7:30 am : link
with great insight and rationale, thank you!
There's a ton of interesting stuff there
Matt M. : 4/3/2016 7:33 am : link
But, it's almost like it's so much info that it is no info (i.e. not real). Either way, thanks for sharing. This should be a very interesting draft for the Giants; one that will be overly analyzed for the first few rounds regardless of who they take.
It would cost an arm and a leg
est1986 : 4/3/2016 7:36 am : link
To move up to 3. Like Eli's arm and Odell's leg.
Most of it makes sense
jeff57 : 4/3/2016 7:41 am : link
Could come down to Floyd and Hargreaves. Would LOVE Henry at 40. Joseph or Bell wouldn't be bad.
If Decker is there at 40
Capt. Don : 4/3/2016 7:48 am : link
Like they believe he will be, I think it would be tough to not take him.
I think their FO source is BBI.
Diver_Down : 4/3/2016 7:55 am : link
The second bullet point reads nearly word for word what a BBI poster posted yesterday or the day before in another thread.

I think the person who posted it on here got it from another message board.

CMicks3110 : 4/3/2016 8:06 am : link
if they were to work out a deal with SD, I wonder if it would be 2004 style; wait to pick a player they covet, and then do the deal. I don't see why they would drop down 7 spots if they didn't have a particular target or two, and to trade up that high, I think we'd have to give up something like this years 2 and next years as well. Which I don't think would be smart as part of the reasoning is to block another team from getting a particular player.
Thanks for posting
UberAlias : 4/3/2016 8:16 am : link
Not the craziest thing I've ever heard. But I don't buy it. Far too much detail. But you never know.

But then there is this that he posted later:
"He didn't tell me any late round guys. Wanted to keep those to himself." This statement is highly suspect, IMO. So the guy spills a lot of info about their plans for the top of the draft including blockbuster trade and specific targets... but those late round flier types are a lock down secret.

Sounds a bit more like someone having fun making something up but only really knows the day 1 day 2 prospects.
Love Vonn Bell in round 2
bigblue12 : 4/3/2016 8:21 am : link
But not sure he is there. Joseph doesn't seem to fit the profile of a Giants player (undersized and injury prone) but you never know
Who knows how true that is but wow
Dry Lightning : 4/3/2016 8:21 am : link
it sounds believable as shit. If we do move up to get Jalen, they need to uncover the leaker and fire his ass! I do love getting inside info though.
Thanks for the info but
Beer Man : 4/3/2016 8:36 am : link
I am skeptical. First it was posted on April-1. Second, JR has been running the draft since 2007, and not once has this much info leaked out about who was on the draft board and in what position.

Big Rick in FL : 4/3/2016 8:42 am : link
I was talking to Daniel Jeremiah the other day. He works for NFL.com & used to scout for the Eagles. He said the same thing. Team sources have no problem talking to you about guys at the top of the draft, but they don't want to give away the late round sleepers.
Hargreaves/Floyd
est1986 : 4/3/2016 8:44 am : link
Decker/Bell
Sheppard

Would be a haul.
Carroo - no thanks
XBRONX : 4/3/2016 8:45 am : link
Suspended two games for his role in a simple assault charge involving a domestic dispute and missed the first half of the first game after being suspended for missing curfew.
XBRONX
Big Rick in FL : 4/3/2016 8:54 am : link
Carroo suspended on charges that were dropped. They were charges filed by an ex GF. This isn't like Greg Hardy where he has money to pay the victim off. Seems more similar to Jay Bromley's false accusations.

Speed does not equal NFL success. We all remember Tim Carter. Its not easy to sharpen up in the NFL. Corners are too good. With Cruz's future in complete limbo we need a solid #2 wr not a take this guy and cross our fingers.
I'm not a big Braxton Miller

Thanks Rick. Interesting.
How many people here would leak info
AP in Halfmoon : 4/3/2016 9:03 am : link
That could be harmful to their employer?
I'd be ecstatic with a draft
Big Rick in FL : 4/3/2016 9:03 am : link
That went like this

Floyd
Joseph/Bell
Carroo

Carroo has the best hands in the draft. Solid 40, broad jump & vertical. He's a very good blocker with a very high yards per catch. Isn't the greatest route runner, but that's the problem with most rookie WRs.
awesome post, makes a lot of sense

Asshat Info is Fun...
Jim in Tampa : 4/3/2016 9:06 am : link
But it's hard to believe. Think about it. There are likely only a small number of Giants' inner-circle employees who would know their thinking in terms of the draft. If you were one of those trusted employees would you risk your job security and also risk being exposed as a disloyal company employee who shared confidential information with a friend... especially in an age where stuff like this ends up on Twitter, Facebook and internet message boards?

McAdoo won't even share whether or not he'll be calling the plays next year, in the hopes of getting a slight advantage. Do you really think that the Giants' brain trust wouldn't lay the law down to everyone in the organization with access to their draft strategy not to share these secrets?

Sharing last-minute information on free agent signings is one thing. Sharing draft strategy three weeks before the event is quite another.

Just not buying this asshat info.
Carroo
Carl in CT : 4/3/2016 9:06 am : link
Let's see a Giants board and here comes the NJ (Rutgers) player with blinders on who we have to have. It's always one this time of year. People just need to stop. Was this player suspended? Hmmmm. Pass folks there is way better receivers than this guy.
Would love Shepard in the 3rd round
Rjanyg : 4/3/2016 9:08 am : link
1. Floyd
2. Henry or Decker
3. Shepard
4. Simmons

I would like this draft
Carl
Big Rick in FL : 4/3/2016 9:11 am : link
I have no Rutgers bias at all. Born in Florida & I'm a Gators fan. Didn't want a lot of Rutgers players on here that people loved. He was suspended for a charge that got dropped.

Carroo is good though. Would be the perfect complement to Odell IMO. Don't have to deal with drops. Also a very good blocker. Can find the end zone & is good after the catch. In the 3rd round you aren't finding many WRs better then him.
Rja
Big Rick in FL : 4/3/2016 9:12 am : link
The reason I didn't put Shepard in mine is because I don't think he will make it there. I think he could be gone before our pick in the 2nd round.
any draft that includes Floyd
BigBlueCane : 4/3/2016 9:12 am : link
will be a disaster and waste of resources.
Big Rick
Carl in CT : 4/3/2016 9:19 am : link
I too have a place in FL (Juno) spend a lot of time there. I'm not saying imhe isn't a bad player it's just that every year it happens. I could name 10 receivers off the bat who are better. If we grab him late so be it but is he really worth conversation at this point? Why were the charges dropped? You know why.
There's a video
Big Rick in FL : 4/3/2016 9:27 am : link
Of the incident. I don't see anyone slamming a girl. It was an ex girlfriend. Other then that he's never been in trouble so I can't fault him for that.

That's the same for every position. If we draft an OT in the 3rd you can name 10 better then him. I can't name 10 better then Carroo. Here are the WRs I'd take ahead of him Treadwell, Coleman, Doctson, Michael Thomas, Sterling Shepard & Tyler Boyd & Will Fuller.

Some would include Braxton Miller, but he is too raw. I like him, but Carroo is an NFL ready WR right now. Miller has at least a year or two.

Unless he pans out.. Duh.
What about
Carl in CT : 4/3/2016 9:34 am : link
Cooper, Burbridge, Allison, Sharpe, Marshall, Foster, Peake. I can't say Caroo is better than anyone of these.
And yes
Carl in CT : 4/3/2016 9:36 am : link
I think Miller (if coached right) could be special since he is so great of an athlete. Regarding the above Carroo might be better (not saying he isn't ) but it's preference.

Bill2 : 4/3/2016 9:38 am : link
i am with Jim in Tampa on this. Fun read as are most this time of year.

But this year with many players after the top 5 or so rated roughly even I imagine the run up to the draft will have more than too much mis information this year
Once again you can say that about any player
Big Rick in FL : 4/3/2016 9:51 am : link
At any position. PFF has Carroo as their 5th WR. Daniel Jeremiah & draftcountdown.com have him at 8. CBS Sports & Boylhart have him at 10.

So basically he's a consensus top 10 WR. If you watch him you'd see he was a very good WR who is good after the catch, has great hands, very good blocker and has a great YPC average. While being the only threat on the team.

Carroo is going to be a very good pro
Peter from NH (formerly CT) : 4/3/2016 10:03 am : link
Overlooked because of who he plays for.

The original post doesn't ring true however. The only WRs are "on WRs the only name that really came up were Sterling Shepard, Leonte Carroo, and Braxton Miller." even though the GM went specifically to watch Treadwell's pro day? Sure.
Peter
Big Rick in FL : 4/3/2016 10:07 am : link
Just because they went to the Pro Day doesn't mean they were looking at Treadwell. In fact they probably weren't. Supposedly they like Nkemdiche a lot.

Or if they did have interest in him & went to his Pro Day. They might not have interest anymore.
Heck no to Floyd
Jim in Forest Hills : 4/3/2016 10:16 am : link
Would be fine with Hargreaves.

They can't ignore OT, that's flat out dooming the season.

I hate the idea of letting Hankins walk
Jay on the Island : 4/3/2016 10:21 am : link
like they did with Cofield and Joseph. I know they have a lot tied up into Harrison but they should keep their best players regardless of position and adding Billings to a rotation of Harrison and Hankins would be excellent. When Billings' rookie contract they could extend him and cut either Harrison or Hankins.
Reads like an assimilation...

...of draft threads and mock draft landmarks in an attempt to get attention.

Any word yet on if Cowher and the Giants FO have come to an agreement on the power structure??
Here's a true story about asshat info
Larry in Pencilvania : 4/3/2016 10:30 am : link
My dad had a good friend who did some non football work for Ernie Accorsi a while ago so he spent some time at the GIANTS offices. The first thing said to him was you ask me anything GIANTS related you're fired. Repeat anything said in your presence your fired. Needless to say he never asked(not even for tickets) and never repeated and worked for EA many years.

EA would squeal to the media like a little school girl where Reese is a stone faced poker player and says little to nothing. The front office has been on lockdown since Reese took over. I don't believe anything comes out of that office

Good thread, prompted a good discussion

I thought it was interesting how it was phrased.

"They don't believe he can't play RT." Not exactly a ringing endorsement that he CAN play RT.
