Laquon Treadwell note from Daniel Jeremiah

bigblue12 : 4/14/2016 12:37 pm
Listening to the Move the Sticks podcast, he is saying that there is not one person who he talks to that thinks Treadwell is going in the top 20 and they speculate that he could be destined for the top of round 2. It is lying season, but interesting nonetheless.

Just last year, they mocked Collins to us at #9 overall

Maybe the same will happen here....

Jeremiah had Amari Cooper falling to the Giants at #9 (he went #3) and had Bud Dupree and Shane Ray ahead of Cooper (they went ##22-23).

Take him with many grains of sodium.
Collins "fell" because of movement concerns
KWALL2 : 4/14/2016 12:53 pm : link
Same deal for Treadwell. I think he's WR #4+ off the board.

Coleman, Doctson, Fuller go before him. Maybe more.

He's a down hill safety with inadequate coverage skills that was forced to play the exact opposite position all year... Are you saying that he didn't show any promise?
The Giants won't sit still and wait for Treadwell at 40

Chris, he led all rookies in tackles last year playing out of position. I'd say that's a hell of a start.

The 1st pick in the second round belongs to the Browns. Sounds like they will be looking for WR. Might have to trade back to the first. Someone has to save Treadwell:)
Trade up to 3 - Jalen Ramsey

If you plugged the name "Reuben Randle" in that statement you would be correct.

Collins is a player. Reese fucked up by not having a viable FS on the roster. Spags fucked up by moving him all over in different roles every week instead of leaving him in his natural SS spot and playing around him.

Just grab Coleman, Fuller, Doctson or Treadwell and you get your WR.

If the Giants want a WR, I think they can sit at #40 and get a good one.

Radar know jack shit about football. Or anything in life for that matter.

I agree that he showed promise. He was pretty good at knifing through the LOS. Still would love to see him moved to WILL

He hasn't fallen yet. The draft is in two weeks. Also Collins fell last yr. He was a good pick. Play him next to a good free safety he'll b excellent. I actually like diction but feel treadwell would b great pick
I don't want Treadwell at 10,

Based on what besides hope is Collins a player?
if you watched Collins fly to the football
djm : 4/14/2016 2:56 pm : link
you'd see a talent. Collins will most definitely have a place in the NFL even if he struggles in coverage at times. And he didn't struggle in coverage all the time last season.

Watch Collins play in space. He can cover ground and lay the wood. That's a valuable player.
WHERE WILL TREADWELL GET PICKED???
One Man Thrill Ride : 4/14/2016 3:00 pm : link
If only there was some type of annual organized player acquisition activity in which professional team attained the right of incoming collegiate amateurs.

Then, and only then, would this discussion about Laquon Treadwell be resolved.

Otherwise...we just. don't. know.
Collins was terrible last year
Vanzetti : 4/14/2016 3:37 pm : link
At least in coverage.

But as many have said, he was playing out of position somewhat.

If he was a sixth round pick nobody would be saying he showed promise. It's just that he was projected to go in the first and showed good physical and more importantly mental skills that you figure he will be a good player.

So, the book is still out on him.

Now Treadwell isn't a good pick at 40 either? You're rich. A guy who might be a reach at 10 can't be a nice value pick at 40?

What is with your vendetta against this guy? Did he diddle your sister?
Treadwell
huygens20 : 4/14/2016 4:21 pm : link
Best outcome is like a shorter marques colston. Or an anquan boldin.

Basically a guy who can't play on the outside and has to be in the slot to beat up lbers and nickel corners.

Doctson is better at jump balls and speed. No idea why people love treadwell so much. Has no game breaking abilities, he's just a #2 rec who can't play outside and tested so horribly that you can't even comp him to allen Robinson, another jumpball receiver who runs high 4.5s.
LakeGeorge
KWALL2 : 4/14/2016 5:08 pm : link
At 40 he might work but I'd rather see a more explosive WR added.

Or this Antonio Brown clone from Oklahoma:

This guy
Gints57 : 4/14/2016 5:13 pm : link
just Wow! I'm tired of arguing about Treadwell. Allstarjim and Kwall have made their cases and now they want to argue he's not good value at 40. At least they're coherent, if unconvincing that a guy with Treadwell's 2015 production numbers in the SEC and his 6:2, 220-pound, ripped skill set of strength, fluidity in his breaks, catching radius and strong, reliable hands is totally negated by his less-than-stellar speed measureables. Despite what we've seen from players like Boldin, Nicks, Irvin, Bryant, Burress and others. Then THIS GUY, insightful genius who can't have ever watched him play, above me says Treadwell can't play outside where he played and excelled in the SEC. Why because some asshole named Jeremiha (not the profit in the Old Testament, I presume) is spreading rumors. Good grief!
Easy sparky
KWALL2 : 4/14/2016 5:25 pm : link
We'll see how it plays out and then you can come back here and call me a fool.

I said he would be OK at 40 but I'd rather they use that pick on something else. Nothing to get worked up about.
Addressing Mr. Huygens
Gints57 : 4/14/2016 5:32 pm : link
Not venting on you Great Wall of K. Enjoy your analysis, and allstarjim's, even though I disagree. By the way, I like the Oklahoma kid too and would pick him at 40. If the Giants don't pick Treads, I think he'll go mid to later first round. Just like the idea of a big, powerful guy to balance Beckham.

That's terrible analysis. Both parts. Here's a list of players who fell on draft day:

- Joe Montana (Third Round);

- Roger Staubach (Tenth Round) - Four year military commitment;

- Bart Starr (Seventeenth Round) -
Athleticism;

- Dan Marino (First Round)
Reports of cocaine use;

Thurman Thomas (Second Round) -
Knee injury;

- Shannon Sharpe (Seventh Round) -
Was thought of as a tweener due to his size;

- Zach Thomas (Fifth Round) -
Size

- Randy Moss (First Round) -
Character Issues;

- Willis McGahee - (First Round) -
Major knee injury;

- Dez Bryant (First Round) -
Character Issues;

- Aaron Rogers (First Round) -
Mechanics, college system

- Rob Gronkowski (Second Round) - Sustained seriois back injury in final season;

- Justin Houston (Second Round) -
Character issues;

- Luke Kuechly (First Round) -
Dropped due to position;

- Tyrann Mathieu -(Third Round)
- Character issues;

- Jesse Armstead (Seventh Round) -
Sustained a major knee injury in final season;

Shall I keep going?

So yes, while there are circumstances that may cause a player to plummet in the draft, that shouldn't preclude us from being interested - regarless or round. Thats simply dumb.
People overthink this shit
