aka the Warriors coronation begins tomorrow. I dont see too many upsets in the first round, maybe the Pacers over the Raptors, because the 3, 4, 5, 6 and seeds are all very even.

News to note. I have been mentioning for months now that the ideal person to coach the TWolves is Thibs because he has the pieces of a great defensive team with Rubio/Towns/Dieng. If he could mold Lavine and Wiggins, its just the ideal spot, and rumors are he is their number 1 choice. It almost makes too much sense. If they can win a top 2 selection in the lottery and somehow get Simmons or Ingram..... watch out. I think that will be a good match for both parties involved.

Shump giving up a backdoor cut.

He's a replacement level player I don't know why people (especially Cleveland) don't realize this now. Just because he blows on offense doesn't make him a great defensive players.
I hate bad traffic

On 6 pm tip off nights. At least this bus has crappy WiFi.

Just checked the box score and can't say I'm surprised by the early foul count.
wow
JayBinQueens : 5/24/2016 9:16 pm : link
okc looks on a different level right now

I've never seen a team look so shell shocked in the playoffs
Well
madhatter9382 : 5/24/2016 9:36 pm : link
I'm still shocked at how okc handled the Spurs, I mean if the Warriors didn't do what they did this year, everyone would been talking about how great a year the Spurs had and okc just basically waltzed right by them
OKC is just in the zone right now
Greg from LI : 5/24/2016 10:12 pm : link
Everything is working for them.
Russ is amazing.

In the last 4 quarters
dep026 : 5/24/2016 10:16 pm : link
that the OKC starters have played...(2nd and 3rd quarters sunday, 1st half tonight).

They have 155 points.
What OKC has done the past 8 or so games
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 5/24/2016 10:19 pm : link
Has been ridiculous. These are two truly special teams that they're stomping on.

I won't count out Golden State until they are officially eliminated but they've just been punched in the face by a more athletic squad and they can't seem to get back on their feet.

Steph Curry just had an all-time great season, one of the very best in the modern era. People including myself were comparing him to Jordan, saying 2016 Curry might be the best player ever.

Its time for Curry to have that playoff moment. He needs to drop 27 in the 2nd half tonight on the road and lead them to a comeback win.
it seems crazy to count the Warriors out if they lose this game
Greg from LI : 5/24/2016 10:19 pm : link
But the Thunder are playing like a train coming down a mountain. They look so confident.
Curry's lucky Rose is through
chris r : 5/24/2016 10:20 pm : link
In addition to Westbrook, Rose used to throttle him too back in the day when he was healthy.
you're basically talking about a what
MookGiants : 5/24/2016 10:23 pm : link
a 2 game sample size? Last time Rose was truly healthy Curry wasn't anywhere near the player he is now
this is why a simple call here and there
santacruzom : 5/24/2016 10:30 pm : link
can just compound... the Warriors are down 6, on the road, with their third-or-second best player on the bench with 3 fouls, and Iggy goes for a layup and is fouled so blatantly even the announcers are incredulous. It turns into a breakaway score for the Thunder and the crowd is delirious. That could be a 4 point swing, it at least stops play for a bit, but after that, it's just a bloodbath of momentum.

I mean, if Iggy were Westbrook and one of the Thunder players who hit him were Thompson, Klay would have been called for two fouls.
For two teams
santacruzom : 5/24/2016 10:43 pm : link
That rely so much on fast breaks, free throws are just so crucial. I'm pretty happy with the way this 2nd half has been so far in that regard.

Any Warriors possession
santacruzom : 5/24/2016 10:47 pm : link
That ends with a shot from someone other than Klay is a bad possession right now.
Klay can't miss.... unbelievable

.
Curry has been pathetic so far
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 5/24/2016 11:02 pm : link
He needs to step the fuck up.

Westbrook is such an animal, only word to describe him. Murdering Steph in the battle of PGs tonight.
Curry is soft and not a great athlete
chris r : 5/24/2016 11:08 pm : link
he's luck he's playing in the most finesse era of the league to date.
now there's
adambear : 5/24/2016 11:11 pm : link
a hot take
Russ is my favorite player in the league.
bceagle05 : 5/24/2016 11:11 pm : link
Love what I'm seeing. Hope he and KD go the distance this year.
Anybody
NJGiantFan84 : 5/24/2016 11:15 pm : link
Else tored of TNT missing plays to show reactions and celebrations?? Feels like its two or three times a game they miss showing a turnover or quick bucket because they are showing the bench celebrations.
when it rains, it pours for Steph
Greg from LI : 5/24/2016 11:18 pm : link
He looks just awful.
Russ with another triple double
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 5/24/2016 11:19 pm : link
Steph was garbage tonight outside of a stretch in the 2nd quarter but the real issue has been Draymond. He's been a joke this series's

Roberson stepping up huge down the stretch.

GS looks like they're about to be down 3-1.
this is crazy
adambear : 5/24/2016 11:22 pm : link
did not see this coming
Disappointed
trueblueinpw : 5/24/2016 11:35 pm : link
Thought this was a good matchup but GS has no answer for Westbrook or KD or even Adams. Steph has been off but really, aside the occasional kick in the balls from Green, he's been out there without much help.
Draymond might be the biggest liability on the court right now.
David in LA : 5/24/2016 11:42 pm : link
Adams, Kanter, and Ibaka are beating him down with their size and length. IMO this was a bad matchup athletically. Curry wasn't able to make a difference in other ways when his shot went south, and I think Westbrook is just too strong and explosive for him to keep up with. GSW is REELING right now!
As good
NJGiantFan84 : 5/25/2016 12:16 am : link
As GS is, they really dont do anything particularly well outside of passing and shooting. Their d is poor, their rebounding is okay and they really are not a hustle team. They dont dive on the floor for loose balls the way OKC does. They dont run back on D when Westbrook is attacking the way OKC does when Curry is attacking.

They have weaknesses when their shots are not falling.
Curry and Durant missed a ton of wide-open shots.
shockeyisthebest8056 : 5/25/2016 12:35 am : link
I think Kerr needs to leave Bogut out there, if he's physically capable of playing more minutes. Speights looks lazy and fat and the small lineup isn't really accomplishing anything.

Draymond Green really needs to get his shit together.
their D isn't "poor"
santacruzom : 5/25/2016 12:37 am : link
I mean, I get how tempting it is to judge a team off the last two games you've seen, but the Warriors can be defensively great for long stretches. This can, however, be negated when arguably the second best all around defender in the league is having an off game, one of the best rim defenders in the league gets in early foul trouble, and one of the better two-way players in the league is as well.
The exposure of sir Draymond Green has been fun to watch
David in LA : 5/25/2016 12:40 am : link
the one thing that gives me hope
santacruzom : 5/25/2016 12:42 am : link
is that if the Houston Rockets can close out a series with 3 straight wins, you'd think the Warriors have a good shot.

If they win tomorrow and force a game 6... well, funny things happen in game 6's. It could be just like the Lakers/Kings game 6. Except that was an elimination game for LA, and they were at home, and they got all the calls...

...oh shit. We're fucked.
exposed as what?
santacruzom : 5/25/2016 12:43 am : link
A bad player everyone just thinks is good? Or a good player who can have two bad games?

If you're arguing the first... shit, I thought Dep would be that guy.
er, not tomorrow
santacruzom : 5/25/2016 12:44 am : link
meant next game.
Santacruz, GSW is running into a buzzsaw
David in LA : 5/25/2016 12:45 am : link
and I've been saying up front that this is a bad matchup for the dubs. BTW, getting calls isn't why OKC has been having their way with them at home.
Draymond has had back to back disastrous games
David in LA : 5/25/2016 12:49 am : link
You can beat him down with a lengthy athletic guy like Adams and Ibaka. I know Warrior fans have only been watching playoff hoops for 2 years now, but playoff basketball is about exposing match ups. OKC has been countering GSW's small lineup with Durant sliding down to the 4 with great results.
I think the Thunder are a really good team
santacruzom : 5/25/2016 1:04 am : link
And yeah, they're not a good matchup. My thinking during the season was that the Warriors were in the Thunder's heads, as they'd come close to pulling out wins only to come up short. Whereas the Spurs definitely seemed to be in the Warriors' heads, since the Warriors hadn't won at SA since something like 1997. Turns out Duncan completed his inevitable transformation to a player his age and the Spurs would have been a far better matchup.

I can't say the Thunder wouldn't be winning without the calls, but I sure hope I get a chance to find out!
Looks like Pippen may not have been wrong about the Bulls vs GS
chris r : 5/25/2016 3:31 am : link
GS just doesn't have great athletes so when they're up against a great team with great athletes, its not going to end well.
OKC just dominating.
SanFranNowNCGiantsFan : 5/25/2016 6:31 am : link
Too big for GS.
Hope it's over in 5
UConn4523 : 5/25/2016 6:44 am : link
and either Cavs go 7 or Toronto wins (not happening, I know). Either way, rooting for Durant to get his.
wait a sec...

How did I get thrown into this?
I have to think that Curry simply isn't close to 100%
Greg from LI : 5/25/2016 10:06 am : link
It's not as if he played poorly in last year's playoffs. He's not a choker.

The one who looks like shit is Bogut. I wonder if the 73 wins took something out of them.

arcarsenal : 5/25/2016 10:44 am : link
I think OKC deserves some credit for the way they're defending Curry. That has a lot to do with his subpar performance. Russ is just getting the better of him so far in this series too. Curry can't guard him. He's too strong and too explosive.

One subplot
santacruzom : 5/25/2016 11:45 am : link
If Durant does indeed get his championship with the Thunder, there will be tremendous NBA fan backlash if he resigns with them as that will be seen as ringchasing or the easy way out. "Signing with the team that just won the Championship? The coward!"

The best move at that point to build his legacy would be to go to a team that's just a piece or two away :)

I was teasing. I say some outlandish things.... at times.
the series
PaulBlakeTSU : 5/25/2016 11:49 am : link
is still far from over.

Curry doesn't look 100%, but I think he's getting worn out from guarding Russ and from having to fight through so much traffic off the ball.

Last night was tough because he was without Klay for a bunch in the first half due to foul trouble, and Dray has been dogshit so there hasn't been as great ball movement and playing (downhill) as usual.

I was prediciting OKC to win the series before it started, but I'd like to see GS come back and make it a close one.
Here's the question....
dep026 : 5/25/2016 11:50 am : link
whos the Thunder MVP?
Russ
PaulBlakeTSU : 5/25/2016 11:50 am : link
can be a frustrating player, but when he's hitting his shots and not making careless decisions, then watch out.

I've never seen a more explosive player with the ball from the top of the key at attacking the rim-- at least from the guard position. Not even healthy Rose. He is just a freak in a sport of freaks.
