Culliver says Beckham complains constantly to officials

Big Blue '56 : 4/20/2016 5:35 pm
Quote:

“Probably the most complaining person I’ve went against is Odell Beckham,” Culliver said.

Whatever Beckham has done against Washington, it’s working. Last year, he had 16 catches for 221 yards and two touchdowns in a pair of games against Washington. As a rookie in 2014, he faced Washington once, with 12 catches for 143 yards and three touchdowns.

That’s a total, in three career games, of 28 catches, 364 yards, and five touchdowns.

So, yeah, he should definitely keep complaining when playing Washington

is the norm now. Watch a Patriots game. They cry for a flag on every single play where there is an incompletion and no flag.

Brady complains a lot imo
If he's complaining

AND STILL carving your defense the fuck up...I don't know...maybe...um, hell. Play better defense?

do it on almost every hit, especially Cam and Brady. No big deal.

Beckham is obviously an unlikable guy. Players go out of their way to call him out. They dont like him.

It's more than him being good. He's a dick. But he's our dick.

Which is hilarious because on half the Pats pass patterns i find myself extending my arm out to the TV yelling 'obvious pick play ... why isnt it called?'

It's more like other players are jealous of the overnight fame, and they talk about him to try to make a name for themselves.

I find him easy to root for save for last year's stuff with Carolina
Odell
Chef : 4/20/2016 5:55 pm : link
is not that hard to root for, if you consider when he was off the field like in the suspended Minnesota game the offense was inept. Couple that with the garbage defense last year we are comparable to the Cleveland Browns...
He's hated
Torn Tendon : 4/20/2016 5:55 pm : link
for all the notoriety he gets. "The Catch", the great rookie year, statements like the best first two years by a WR ever, Considered the #1 WR in the league by Several analysts and in Fantasy Football circles.

He backs it up. Deon Sanders used to get the same hate. It's just a switch that he's on the Giants for once.

nobody likes a malcontent and complainer. He needs to group up fast or he will continue to be a lightning rod. Stuff like this is distracting for his game and the team as we saw in the Carolina game, hopefully in the offseason the Giants assigned a mentor to him to guide him. That stuff in the Carolina game reminded me of a teenager/youth temper tantrum. Very surprising to realize that we have super star that will soon be paid big bucks with the mind of a 12 year old.

really talented people are in the workforce everywhere in the US and people dislike them and force them out because they don't fall in line. It's called flying in formation, one thing that was one of Coughlin's greatest skills but really had trouble with it with specific rosters, then he succumbed to his bosses (Eli) and soon to be Beckham that are the face of the franchise and are paid more. Carefully watch that clip of POTUS bowing to the Saudi Prince. That is what TC was dealing with.

Glover : 4/20/2016 6:12 pm : link
WRs constantly complain and lobby for PI calls, DBs do the same. QBs cry and lobby for late hit calls, or unnecessary roughness calls, and often get them. D linemen are fucking thespians acting, throwing their arms in the air begging for holding calls. It sucks, I hate it, but it is what it is. Who cares what Culliver says?

"he is our idiot" so let's protect him stuff. One thing I hope McAdoo can achieve is to get these players flying in formation around winning as a team effort and discarding the TC legacy stuff that became "losing" habits and tendencies. Too many "hero" guys to depend on every game in that old model, when what we need are contributions from every player and take turns leading the formation each game for a winning season. You watch any serious fighter jet campaign or even geese migrating they work as a team in a V formation, pulling laggards and problems back into formation.

Hopefully he matures this year because I think
plenty of Defensive players want to knock his head
off . Rather him save that energy for the next play.
and further his career . He has yet to come to terms
with his overnight sensation status and play with
class . One thing to Note is Norman is a total
asswipe that started the fiasco not once but
twice before 10 plays had passed .
Hopefully B-Mac gets his head on straight .
WRs trash talking and complaining
Emil : 4/20/2016 6:56 pm : link
Is nothing new at all. Most of the great ones have done it. Heck LT was notorious. Cullen Jenkins has quite a reputation as well. I don't like trash talking and complaining, but it is part of the league and I can't bold it against OBJ. I do think there is an obvious double standard. Defensive players do it all the time and no one cares. How often have you seen a CB complain to the ref that it wasn't PI. When Brady is complaining or even yelling at the ref, how many times have announcers referred to it as on field leadership or praised his fiery competitiveness. But when a WR does it, it's annoying or he is being a baby. I wish they would all knock it off, but that's not reality.
The comments on that link gave me more laughs

OBJ is a dick stuff.

Is he young, super talented, and a bit of a prima donna (pre-Madonna?) - sure. And that's why a lot of people have strong opinions about him.

But he's not a bad guy, and he's proven to be a very hard worker too.

Yeah, he's going to have to learn to handle all these people taking shots at him (on and off the field) like a pro soon enough. But we're very very lucky he's on our side

Like taunting. Like excessively celebrating. Like being a petulant child.

All I'm saying is we'd hate him on another team and any amount of self-awareness would reveal that. Doesn't mean we can't love him on our team - sports is about that double standard - but at least acknowledge it.
...-
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 4/21/2016 3:19 am : link
Physicality is clearly the only option there is to stop him.

Odell has a lot of whiny bitch tendencies but I've never seen any WR in this league who defenses were forced to be borderline illegally physical against than Odell.

Part of that is because he's not even 6' 200, but it's mainly because he's unstoppable otherwise. If he can learn to keep his composure against physicality and manages to stay healhy, there won't be 5 WRs in history who are known as better than him.
The Rams game was unlike anything

Jordan wasn't likable. In fact, he was an asshole. Larry Bird was a notorious hardass and shit talkter. Terrell Owens was a self-absorbed egomaniac. There are plenty of great baseball players who aren't great people.

It doesn't really matter that much to me.
The difference between Jordan
ryanmkeane : 4/21/2016 8:41 am : link
and some of the other greats are that Beckham's on the field stuff is very different than off the field. Once the whistle blows, he's a great kid by all accounts.
Listen OBJ is great and we all love him
dep026 : 4/21/2016 8:52 am : link
but he is immature as all hell.

- panthers game
- punching a Bills player
- excessive celebrations
- kicking a ball and getting a penalty in the Jets game.

He's a diva. So was Terrell Owens. So was Randy Moss. They like the attention during the game. They like the attention after the play. It doesnt make him a bad person whatsoever, but he is immature. But he also what? 23? I am fine if he matures as the years go on. But is very easy to see why people outside the NY fan base are not infatuated with him.

He's going to be one of the best, if not the best WRs in the NFL for years. He just has to work on a few things - and he will. OBJ's antics are the least of our concerns.

I hate excessive (but barely legal) celebrations from any player. I think it's cool when a great play is made and the player just hands the ball to the ref. That's saying a LOT by not saying a lot.
