Peter King: Giants think Myles Jack's knee is ok.

And he has him going to us at #10:

Quote:
10. New York Giants: Myles Jack, LB, UCLA. Let the debate begin over Jack’s health. Or continue. Some NFL teams think Jack eventually will need microfracture surgery on the wounded knee that was surgically repaired last fall. Microfracture surgery is risky and not every player responds the same to it. But I hear the Giants think Jack’s knee is okay. If it is, New York has the best sideline-to-sideline linebacker in the draft, and that’s been a huge position of need on the Giants defense.

Going to get my hopes up and it won't happen
It is such a double edged sword.
If he doesn't have these concerns he isn't even a possibility at 10 in this draft. Since he does he is now a possibility. Now, do we take that chance. Imo, he is worth the risk if you trust your doctors. If you want to play it safe you trade down and acquire more picks. If you are looking for a chess piece that can take your defense to the next level you take him. I am in the "draft him" camp. One can only hope.
He has Floyd going to Jax at pick 15

With a trade with TN.
That's the one player I hope

Dallas doesn't draft.
I don't think Tennessee will trade up that high
Although I wouldn't rule it out. I dont think Floyd gets past Chicago.

Dallas will most likely get a really good player. I just hope it is either Elliot or Bosa with Bosa being my number 1 option for them. I do not want to see Ramsey or Jack there.
Not following Dallas much these days....

But isn't their position of greatest need a 16-game-a-year QB?
With the recent issues with players injuries

Why would anyone trust the Giants' doctors? Including the Giants. Defies logic.
How does he fall to #10 if healthy or

a team does not trade up for him?

Long term? Yes. Short term is a need but their D overall ks a greater need especially with them basically not having a DE tk start the season. So, I agree that QB is a need for them. I just believe they have bigger needs in the short term.
You ever notice that we say Giants shouldn't just draft
Jimmy Googs : 8:20 am : link
based on need but when we size up what other teams might draft it is solely based on need.

Agreed.

Tampa, NYG, Chicago, Floyd doesn't get past all three.

Saw a link to a tweet from a Jacksonville reporter

who said, after speaking to folks in the front office, that Jags will take him at 5.
We'll draft him and he'll wind up with microfracture surgery,
Big Blue '56 : 8:42 am : link
of that I have little doubt..We don't get sideline to sideline LBs..At least for very long..:(

Put it this way and fwiw, I have seen very few mocks that don't have him going to Jax at 5..
haven't heard a peep about Jack's knee
JonC : 8:44 am : link
but my feeling is it's ticking in terms of not wanting to spend the #10 pick on a gamble.

I used to like King, but in recent years he's become a lazy,
Victor in CT : 9:24 am : link
self-absorbed hack. Who gives a fuck about his coffee an beer and his political ramblings? Or worse, his fucking haiku? Stick to football Pete.

That said, if Jack's knee really is healthy he is just what the doctor ordered for the Giants D. Big IF though.
I want to take the chance,
Randy in CT : 9:29 am : link
knee be damned. (within reason)
If any team thinks he's healthy or will fully recover
there's no chance he slips to 10.
Yeah, I'm down with this.
George : 9:52 am : link
Every player in the draft is a question mark, and every player in the NFL is a freak misstep away from a career-ending injury. It's a total crapshoot anyway; if Jack is there at 10, you have to run to the podium.
Eli's age shortens the window
chris r : 9:53 am : link
so if you think you can get 4 all pro type seasons from Jack and then his leg falls off, I'd do it.
Giants doctors think his knee is okay
Patrick77 : 9:55 am : link
In other news... Myles Jack had both his legs amputated today because of severe injuries. The Giants now view him as a steal in the later rounds.
Pete King makes a 1 day tour of every team's camp

Glad to hear it.
Not to rag on the Giants doctors or staff but injuries have derailed or destroyed so many Giants player's careers at this point my belief is the above is more likely than the Giants drafting jack and him being healthy ever again. If healthy he should be the pick, it just seems the definition of healthy with him is very grey.

I truly hope Giants stay away from the injury risk players, especially in round 1. there is no reason for it.
Even Jason LaCornholio

Was disgusted with the reports on Jack's knee, and suggested it was certain agents or team reps trying to make him fall.
Please

let this happen. He looks like Jessie Armstead out there.

Jack has All Pro WLB written all over him. With the D-Line we already have - Jack and Kennard flying around at OLB - our 2 CBs - what a turnaround. You'd really have to tip your cap to the front office rebuilding the D so quickly.

Jack's the "top shelf" player that could stir the drink
I call BS ...
Beer Man : 10:52 am : link
I don't think the Giants would comment on Jack's knee if they were really interested in taking him with the first pick. The fact that they have, has the look and feel of a smoke screen.
I hope its true

Then I would love this pick, and think its much better than Floyd. I want Jack or an OT.

For me, I hope they get either Bosa or Ramsey. Elliott would be a nightmare for us going forward, especially with their offensive line, and Romo at QB. I wouldn't be happy about Jack either.

It would seem extremely prudent and preferable to pass on Jack with the 10th pick. It seems like the Giants come away with a player or two each draft where an injury issue was a consideration. Lets only select healthy players, it may not seem sexy but, in 2017 we will be ahead of the curve. You don't need superstars at every position, just having healthy starters would be magnificent when you look at our injury history! I would gladly take Elliot, top OT/WR/DE vs. risk #10 on a stud with substantial injury downside. JMHO.

Given our injury history in recent years, I'd pass or trade down (which I think they are trying to go).

on J. Smith? There Reese satisfies his insatiable desire to gamble on injured players. That way at least you can plan accordingly knowing he is a redshirt.

Back prior to the 2012 season, King touted the KC Chiefs' offense with Matt Cassel at QB. King claimed that it would be one of the high-powered offenses in the NFL.
You know what happened, don't you? Yeah, KC was at the bottom of the NFL in passing offense.

Does anyone pay attention to what King says anymore?

I have a strong feeling that if we pass on Jack
