Thoughts on William Fuller for us?

yatqb : 4/25/2016 9:19 pm
Despite his drops, I think that he'd be a very nice complement to OBJ and also help our running game. Teams couldn't just routinely rotate coverage Odell's way, and would certainly have to play two deep safeties. Gotta respect his speed.
Prefer Shepard @ 40

also much prefer Shepard at #40. Fuller won’t make it to then anyway. If speed is what you want, I’d rather take a flyer on Ricardo Louis on day three.
Love Fuller.

Dynamic playmaker despite occasional drops.

With that said, some feel that he may very well be the first wide receiver off the board on Thursday night. And that would not surprise me in the slightest.

Maybe even in the top 15 range.

Is a guy that needs to win on speed, quickness, and route running.

If you look at our "established" receivers, that's also their game. Odell, Cruz, and Dwayne Harris.

We need a guy that can win with size and physicality on the other side of the field, IMO.

The Giants struggled in the red zone last year in part because of a lack of a bonafide physical mismatch.

Players I think that would benefit the Giants would be Doctson, Michael Thomas, and Leonte Carroo. I realize Carro is only 6'0" but to me he plays bigger. I also like Peake, but he will need to get more physical with the ball in the air.
nfl.com draft tracker lists him as the best receiver in the draft.

He has amazing speed - he averaged over 20 yards per catch. I think he's faster than Beckham. Once he gets a step on a db, he's gone. The drops are a problem that result from small hands. But we won't pick him at 10 and he won't be there at 40. If we do get him in the 2nd, it'll drive opposing defenses crazy.
Don't like him for us

Nice speed. But I really prefer Doctson, or even Hunter Henry at that point in the draft.

While I don't like Fuller: I don't like guys that aren't natural hand catchers. They are limited players that aren't able to use any part of their catch radius.

Doctson has Height, Speed, Change of direction, and will be a great fit with Eli in the Red zone.. Doctson is very subtle.. the more tape I watch on him, the more I really like his skill set. Look at his production. Nice combine.

Ditto for Henry at a need position. I think we trade down and start to look at these guys though.
Be great in the 3rd after the Jints draft Conklin and Whitehair!

drops are usually from lack of concentration and not hand size.

Fuller could be special but, due to his size and strength, the obvious counter by defenses is to press him at the LOS. I have similar concerns about Shepard. Both could ultimately turn out to be all-pro WR's. I feel it would be more prudent to select a taller-stronger and more consistent WR, especially with Eli's propensity to pass high. My preferance, other than Doctson who won't be there in the 2nd is Thomas @ #40. JMHO.
It's always a bad idea to pursue receivers with bad hands...

...this guy is a Heyward-Bey clone. Pass.

Be Nice to Have another Taller Pass Catcher
I would Like to see Hunter at #40 .
If we Don't get a WR in free agency or
at #1 I like Doctson and Treadwell in a trade down .
I think he is gonna be Nate Washington

One dimensional deep threat. A good one...but not good enough elsewhere to be an every down difference maker.
Bad hands wreck game plans.

Give me a move-the-chains guy or a big, tough red-zone target.
Agree with CTCharlie.

Don't like receivers with poor hands.

I'll take a move the chains guy anytime.

than how about this logical senario.

Draft RB Ezekiel Elliott 'E2'. A solid running game/back for 3 downs who is considered one of best blockers of RB coming out of college. Unique combo of speed and POWER, productive tackle to tackle. Had 3 consecutive 200+ yards game,vs wispy, Bama and the Ducks. He breaks tackles with ease, bc of his leg drive. Can catch ball out of backfield and the flat with 27 for 206 yards. 10.25" hands and Safeties won't be able to move over to OBJ side with a back like that.

In the Second, you fire on BPA at WR. What if Will Fuller slips to 40. Thats a no brainer. We shored up defensively during Free Agency and now we load game changers offensively first 2 picks If Not SS will do Sterling Shepard.

Offense could look like this:
(40)Fuller/Shepard,Cruz, Flowers, Pugh, Richburg, Jerry,(71)S.Coleman, TYE, OBJ. Rb Elliott (10) QB Eli
Defense still stinks
xman : 4/25/2016 11:48 pm : link
It was so bad that a few defensive signings will not right this ship

But Mike Wallace was a highly productive receiver when he played with a top-notch QB. I love Fuller, but I don't think he's the best fit for the Giants. They need someone who can compliment Odell, as opposed to doing the same thing he does best.

I do think comparing him to a scrub like Heyward-Bey or even a player like Nate Washington is really selling Fuller short. Watch the USC game. A future 1st round pick, Adoree Jackson, was asked to cover him and simply could not do it. In the second half, Jackson had to resort to committing multiple PIs just to prevent more big plays.
Best receiver in the draft
RetroJint : 4/26/2016 6:20 am : link
He can operate from any of the three wide receiver positions. If the Giants want him, they have to take him at 10. He won't be around much longer.
perfect guy to play opposite obj
Dankbeerman : 4/26/2016 1:02 pm : link
can get deep all day also runs with the ball well on screens, slants, and crossing routes. he wont be getting a ton of targets but will open the field for everyone.

also dont see the value at 10 but can say that for most of the guys projected to go in the 9-15 spots.
