jaylon smith looking good !!

hutch33 : 4/26/2016 3:47 am
Nerves regrow at a rate of about 1 inch per month after a one-month lag time, Cooper said, and the injured area is roughly 6 inches above the muscle, so Smith – 3½ months out from surgery – has at least several more months of wait-and-see ahead.

Once he’s healthy, Smith says, he sees himself as a pass rusher, probably from a 3-4 outside linebacker spot, though he feels he can play inside or outside in a 4-3 or even add weight to be a 4-3 end.

That says about everything you need to know.....

Ok, Jack falls to #10

and Smith to #40.

Marcus Lattimore was doing full indoor

Workouts prior to the draft and that didn't work out too well. I don't even remember him having nerve damage.
Too much of a gamble for the Giants
Mike in NY : 4/26/2016 6:49 am : link
Considering needs and only having 6 picks

Marcus Lattimore was never the same for example
I'm surprised they didn't wait until Wednesday

when I smash my fingers the Docs told me nerves regenerate at 1 mm per month and that number seemed to work. Hope his guys are right (why wouldn't they be.)
He has some Pipes on him .

I would take him in the 4th but someone
is gonna take him before then .

There are going to be 31 teams regretting they didn't take this kid.

Mdgiantsfan : 4/26/2016 8:36 am : link
As has been said with only 6 picks and many needs, we can't afford to take that gamble. It's too bad though, I wish we good take that gamble!
Don't hold your breath..

Cruz was "looking good" not too much after his knee surgery a few years ago.

Actually, re-read what you wrote. It wasn't cut and dry and obvious at all. You definitively said THERE ARE GOING TO BE..Not might, not possibly, but an absolute..Please don't insult us by saying it was "obviously an opinion." You stated it as FACT...Not an "I believe," or "imo," rather THERE ARE GOING TO BE..

Big difference and hence my response of you can't possibly know..None of us can

feel sorry for himself and doesn't want people to be. Love that attitude. I'd take him in the 4th if he's somehow still there.
He's our man
Cruzin : 4/26/2016 9:42 am : link

Gotta take him at 10, he's not gonna be there at 40.

Waiting on Smith is the price you pay for getting the best player in the draft at #10. Realistically the chances are very slim that we have a playoff defense this year. High risk, high reward.

Ask Philly and the Rams how much it cost them to move up, a lot more than waiting on Smith and they won't even be getting the best player. Christ, he's working with the Cowboys physician, don't give Dallas a shot at him. They wouldn't take him at #4 would they?

This kid will be the face of the Giants after Eli's gone and the leader of our championship defense for the next 8-10 years. With so many question marks in a substandard draft, it makes sense to grab the best player. Everyone's a risk, go for the highest reward.

Smith would be a very high reward down the line, but there's no way in hell you can take him at 10 overall. Nobody would do that.

You feel it prudent to spend a top ten pick on a player with a devastated knee with nerve damage because he played for your favorite college team. Gotcha
The guy has nerve damage, will not play in 2016, and has never played
PatersonPlank : 4/26/2016 9:54 am : link
a down in the NFL. People are speculating that if healthy, and if he makes a full comeback, he can play at the NFL level. This guy is the biggest risk in the draft. No way you can take him in the first round. I would think about taking him on day 3.
This injury effected the Giants
GuzzaBlue : 4/26/2016 9:59 am : link
in so many ways in regards to the draft. He could have pushed any of the elite talents down the board to us.
Someone wil take the risk before rd 2
Cruzin : 4/26/2016 10:02 am : link

Who's better?

You take Floyd there's a risk he sucks.
You take Jack, he's got knee problems of his own
You take Elliot you have 6 RBs

Stanley or Conklin directly help Eli, I'd accept that and pray that Smith falls to rd 2.

Stanley, another Notre Damer, nothing wrong with having quality, talented players on your team.

language can be a complex thing, and for some reason individuals can have a hard time spotting hyperbole in particular, or even subtle exaggeration to make a point. And yet, even after 400 years many people are so fond of Shakespeare. Don't take offense, the pedagogical impulse will never die.

Fine, just lay off stating opinions as facts..Big Al told me 15 years ago, that what is most annoying to many posters are statements that are emphatic without stating it's an opinion. That's what I WAS DOING and didn't realize it. So I try to always state that "I believe" or "imo." Do I always put in disclaimers? No..But I try to be careful with that..

That high let someone else take the risk. Not confident he ever plays again (see Lattimore, Bennie Joppru, etc.) and even if he does, will he be the same?

I know we don't have as many picks

As we have NEEDS! BUT.... I would not be mad at all if Giants brass took him at 40. I would actually be really excited. I just don't anticipate that to happen not even with the 3rd round pick.
