Sick of looking at that game 5 thread and envisioning a happy hudson and Steelgiant jumping up and down for joy with their Crosby and "Kristopher Allen" Letang blow-up dolls.
Lets discuss early offseason news and our golf and summer plans here, but lets also see the hatred flowing as we root against ....well... everybody. The only worse EC final 4 i can think of would be to swap in Flyers or Devils for Tampa, and that's impossible under the new playoff format. And Tampa sucks too.
So fuck 'em all - I want to see pain, inept officiating as we saw in NYI/FL games 5 & 6, coaches challenges and long delays, 3 OT games with the home team losing, *lulz* quotes from kwhite2250 that the 'sky is falling' on NYI threads, and of course, a Western Conference Champion.
Yup. NY Ranger playoff-esque

As I said earlier in the thread, this series is the opposite of the 2014 final.
The speedier team is getting the breaks and timely goals, while the bigger, more talented team is getting zero luck and their few mistakes end up in their net.
So much fun...
Fuck this stanley cup.
Maybe the fact that we got ousted by the team that's going to win the Cup is a sign that we weren't quite as bad as maybe we seemed this year compared to last (though we most certainly were worse)...
Grasping at straws here.
Fuck the fuckin' Pens. And fuck GoldenTee.

If we lost in 6 or 7 hard fought games i would have that few that maybe we just ran into a buzzsaw (that most of us saw coming - hence you avoid them and play Florida... uggh). But we got our asses kicked in 3 of the 5 games. Wasnt much of a series.
We agree changes are needed this month and on July 1.
At this point in excited for the agony to end and really, really interested to see what the Rangers have in store for the offseason. I foresee some heated discussions.
Jones is keeping games close, he is better than I thought.
But the deliberate pace the Sharks play with only works if they can be physical and to quote Youngblood "they'll never catch me" is actually true and working for the most part by Pit, other than small isolated stretches where SJ has been able to forecheck and maintain some offensive zone play.
I love the strategy by Murray. In the defensive zone, he has two forwards down low below the face-off dots in shooting lanes blocking shots, limiting rebound chances, and assisting with the breakout.
I saw times last night where in the offensive zone the Pens had three players on the puck in their forecheck. Sometimes it was all three forwards other times a D pinched, but every coach I ever had would have benched us LOL.
One pass if SJ were more skilled could beat three players. That's risky.
It's worked amazingly well, it will be interesting to see how SJ reacts and if they make significant changes.
a Game 5 win, could mean the series goes 7 very easily since the Sharks would be back at home backs to the wall in game 6, and that's what everyone wants now (unless you're a Pens fan).
Agree these playoffs have been bad in terms of drama, intensity, and play, but I think it's partly that the Pens are playing that well.
Not his best effort, the Sharks as you say caught in a change, then had 5 guys on the puck and Cole all alone. Jones could have controlled the rebound better and the goal is probably on him, but that whole sequence was awful by a lot of people.
Jones has been great.
“I watch him play a lot because I admire the way he plays,” Gretzky told Sportsnet in an interview. “It’s not a big secret: I think he’s the best player in the game. He just sees the game the right way, he always has.
“He’s on a different level when he’s playing like he is right now.”

He sure is, but TGO is right.
I think you are mistaken, that quote is about Sydney Crosby not whoever you thought it was about. I'm sure you wouldn't feel that way about him.

Zero interest in seeing Hagelin raise a Cup tomorrow night. Our mgmt group should be thoroughly ashamed.
I'm more angry with our decision makers, than with Hagelin. Also with the Ducks for giving up on the guy after 3 months.
But that doesnt mean i have any interest in seeing him raise a Cup with a division rival. I'll let rover/hudson/goldentee do that.
Apparently the path to the Cup is getting dumped by the Rangers. Rangers dump Gaborik in 2013, he wins the Cup with the Kings in 2014. Richards gets bought out in 2014, wins with the Hawks in 2015. Hagelin is traded in 2015, wins in 2016.

Thanks for posting this. Very interesting read. The apology to Fleury was great. I always hated Andy Van Hellmond the most.

Keith Yandle's going to win a Cup next year, then. :(
game 6 at home, backs to the wall, Sharks should win and almost every game 7 is a toss up.
I do not think we'll see handshakes tonight.
the only NHL Stanley Cup winning celebration I've missed in my not little kid life, was the Bruins. Couldn't stomach that one, the rest of them I enjoy.

Honestly, I think the Sharks' best chance to win the series ended with Game 4. They had a chance to tie the series, at home, and the laid an enormous egg. I think they win tonight and lose at home in Game 6.
they need to find a way to slow down the Penguins and neutral zone trap or a left-wing lock approach is the most proven recent way to combat speed.
Plus the Sharks are a veteran team, they should be able to adjust.
If they do that and can put a barrage on Murray I think he'll cave.
Rangers management should be embarrassed.
Rangers management should be embarrassed.
That never bothers me anymore, because I got used to it at an early age.
I watched Chelios and Roy hoist cups with other teams (they won in MTL too, but still) so no NHL player winning a cup for another team would phase me anymore.
another softie by Murray
Sharks getting all the calls in this game.
if the pens win, can't pin it on the refs.
