What I've heard.....

ThatLimerickGuy : 4/26/2016 3:44 pm
I know I promised I would pop in with what I have been told and a few people have been asking for the info.

My understanding is that the target is really Myles Jack unless someone unexpected falls. Don't be surprised if there is even a small move to 7 or 8 if he is still there.

The Giants believe that in terms of non-qb's there are 4 guys that they would be LOVE to grab in the draft and think internally that one of these 4 is going to be there. Tunsil, Ramsey, Jack, and Buckner. If those 4 are gone things become muddy.

Bosa is expected to tumble down to the mid teens on draft day because of the partying issue, and the Giants are in the group of teams not interested at 10. Some teams don't even have him on their first round board but as we know it only takes one team...

Paxton Lynch is a lock to go top 10 at this point and won't get past the Niners and Browns.

The wildcard is Leonard Floyd. One of my two contacts says he isn't even in the conversation and the other says he would be the consolation prize for the Giants if they missed out on their big 4.

Stanley isn't really on the Giants radar as the Giants don't really want to move Flowers and Stanley isn't playing RT.

If Jack, Tunsil, Ramsey, Buckner, and Floyd are all gone then the next thought would probably be Treadwell. No other WR is in the convo at 10, nor is Elliot.

With my luck the Giants will draft someone else and I'll have egg all over my face but this is just what I am hearing.

If the Thrillhouse is reading your asshat post correctly, you are saying that at pick number 10, we might draft Trees in DeForrest Buckner, Myles to Kilometers Jack, any of the top OTs, or the "wild card" Leonard Floyd?

Bold stuff. Reminds ill Thrill of when WeatherMan and Tom [Giants fan] speculated that the wind might be invisible. Thanks for narrowing down the possibilities.

Thrillionaire has his own sources, so here you go: Crying Jordan Ranaan has told me -- personally, through an assistant -- that Leonard Floyd is favorite in the clubhouse. Sorry to reveal my source of inside info, but your asshat is FITTED (meaning it's old and out of stytle) whereas the THRILL RIDE's asshat is a backwards snapback -- trend setting, adjustable, and expertely paired with a sleeveless hoodie and some fingerless gloves.

I wouldnt skip him, but Bosa is a very limited player in terms of his role.

As in he is strictly a 4-3 LDE, because he's got no ability to rush outside.

I think that really hurts his stock, but he's also a pretty good lock for not being a complete bust because of his consistent production relative to his age in college.

Yup I agree. I think he's going to have a very consistent career as a 7-10 sack guy.
The only thing that's hard for me to see is Lynch going to San Fran,
barens : 4/26/2016 5:38 pm : link
or even Cleveland. San Francisco would have to really like Lynch to draft him, given they still have Kaepernick. I guess the bottom line from everything we are hearing and seeing is that teams are quick learners, and won't take the 3rd best QB in the top ten if the grade doesn't warrant it.
Whew, if this is true then I am relieved

My perception as well. I'm sure I'll take heat for that, but I really don't see the "special" pass rush ability for Bosa. Good all around lineman, but not a difference maker in the passing game. Now watch him prove me entirely wrong.

I agree on SF.

I dont see anyway they let Chip Kelly draft a QB.

CLE I think would love to trade down again and accrue more 1st round picks, so they are a huge pressure point for Lynch because they are a willing partner, AND Chicago is another huge roadblock teams will be forced to trade in front of in order to guarantee Lynch-- making TB, NYG obvious trade partners.

Basically, if Lynch is still available at #8, you have to trade up all the way there in order to guarantee you'll get him before #11 (chicago) because teams will also be offering TB and NYG trades in order to pick in front of Chicago if it happens that Cleveland doesnt want to trade down and doesnt pick Lynch.

is horrifically violent. It’s almost at the point where it makes the James Caan movie “Rollerball” look like Tiddlywinks. We also only have six picks, still need to fill many holes, and have lead the league in injuries for the last two years. But people still not only want to move up, but to do so for a player with a questionable knee who barely played at all last year. Unreal.

The opening melodrama aside, you make decisions to win championships. It's very easy to make the argument that a few seasons of elite defensive play from Jack overlapping with the rest of Eli's prime is gives the team a better chance to win than whoever would be available at 10 plus a solid starter who you could project being taken in rd 2.
How is this news about Bosa. Wasn't Dallas his only safety net
Mason : 4/26/2016 6:36 pm : link
for the top 10?

He was reported to have a horrible time at the combines and was called too 'laid back' in some interviews with teams.
Buckner has a ton of potential
YANKEE28 : 4/26/2016 6:47 pm : link
but his Wonderlic score was near the lowest at the Combine. He scored a 9.

People talk about Mario Manningham's score of 9, but it was quite different. Manningham went to the Combine having never hired an agent.

Players that hire agents (huge mistake by Manningham not to have done it well before the Combine) are very well prepared for what will happen at every aspect of the Combine (workout, interviews, Wonderlic, etc). With Buckner a Top 10 pick, one can only imagined he was coached and took practice tests before getting to Indy.
Good stuff rick
Cruzin : 4/26/2016 7:15 pm : link

I could live with Jack even though I want Jaylon Smith. Jack is more realistic.

Some of what you heard backs up what I've been saying.

Bosa drops to the teens (Raiders at 14.)
No interest in Elliot (since we have 5 RBs already)
Paxton Lynch a lock to go top 10, although I don't think it will be to San Fran, they want Connor Cook and may take him at 7 if they think the Jets or Broncos might snag him in the first rd. lynch to Cleveland makes complete sense.

Disappointed the Jints have little interest in Stanley, I was hoping that if SF went Cook, Stanley would fall to us but Conklin has been gaining traction. A lot of teams like his work ethic and walk on story, feel he will keep getting better, would like any of the OT's available instead of Floyd.

Thanks for the effort.

He got a 9? While I don't adhere to dinging a prospect because of his low Wonderlic test, getting a 9 is simply ridiculous. I took it a few years ago and am amazed a human-being can't score at least a 20.

Buckner can be on my Defensive Line anyday though...
RE: Buckner has a ton of potential
shyster : 4/26/2016 7:51 pm : link
There is conflicting information on Buckner's age. The Polynesian Football Hall of Fame organization, which also selects a Polynesian Player of the Year has his DOB at March 17, 1992.

This carries a certain amount of weight because the organization has to investigate a player's ancestry to confirm his eligibility for honors. All of the candidates are listed with DOB and place of birth.

Until about a month ago, Wikipedia did not have a DOB for Buckner but now shows it as March 17, 1994, with no source for the information. Rotoworld has changed its YOB for Buckner from 1992 to 1994 but with a different day: March 24 instead of March 17.

Two years can sway decisions and mean lots of bucks, so hope the Giants are making sure they have the official info.

Biggest question: will this be a D oriented draft?

Start with Shaq Lawson at 10 - per/TLG G'man source. Maybe a little lower in trade-back. JPP & Olivier not enough.

A Painful "No" to Jack with knee. No to Floyd at 10; too risky. How about Josh Perry, Ohio St, LB in 2d round?

I don't think I'd worry about the scheme so much. He is tall, strong, quick and plays with great leverage. He is going to be a monster in the NFL. He can play any position in the NFL on DL. Good attitude and high motor. Can't go wrong with that pick.
