Because, if it were only info you were seeking, you can easily find that through a few internet searches. There have been dozens of stories and analyses about the nuts and bolts of the convention and how it might play out.

You can find virtually anything on the Internet, Greg. If that's the motivation, there's no reason to post here asking info about anything. Yes, there are links out there. But do you not see value in someone sharing information, and then when that info raises another question, you get a chance to retort?
Because that's exactly what happened with Patrick and manh george. If they stated what they did within the context of an article, I would've had no opportunity to ask that additional question which helped me understand the situation better. It was productive. The only people who caused it to go the way it did was people like yourself. I won't insult you or name call, but for you to point the finger at someone else when you're the one who couldn't control yourself is weak stuff.
that starting a thread about a topic lead to a political discussion?
In this particular case, Steve. I am mildly surprised. There was nothing inherently decisive about the question posed. It was not a discussion of the candidates; it was literally just asking about the process by which a nominee is selected.
If you saw the thread, it was going fine. But it also totally validated Eric's decision now. But yes, as someone who doesn't post on the political threads, I legit didn't think it would get to that,e specially as quickly as it did.
At least someone is.

In fairness, Greg ruined jorts a looooooong time ago.
Greg, curious.. what other motivation would I have? And why delete it if I had any?
I think this thread is just meant to be good natured ribbing, at least I hope so.

But the question is... do you double dip your chips?
