Peyton Manning Gatordade Commericals

pjcas18 : 4/28/2016 8:57 am
has anyone seen these? If this has been posted I'll delete.

I guess they'll be played during the draft. Apparently Peyton had a habit of writing letters to people, coaches, teammates, his dad, Eli, Derek Jeter, Demaryius Thomas, etc. and they have one of all the people kind of melded together in one commercial then a bunch of individual commercials.

there is one from a cancer patient kid who died, the mother is in the commercial, one from Chris Mortenson.

the link is in the bottom of this Peter King MMQB article - scroll all the way down to "Dear Peyton" and it scrolls through them all.

some interesting draft tidbits, then the videos scroll.

I'm a sucker for stuff like this, (and I'm not naive enough to think it won't help his PR campaign rebuild his image after the recent hits, but I believe he never intended these to be made public and to me that's a good way to judge character, when no one is aware of watching).

anyway thought I'd share thought it was cool to see.

I think they are fantastic. VERY well done.

What's great is, these letters are real. Well done Archie & Olivia.

I do.

but I'm also not a judgmental douchebag who forms opinions of people based on actions they did when they were 22 years old, and based on half-truths and partial stories from the media.

I don't deny Peyton committed a horrible act against an Athletic trainer and tried to cover it up, how could i deny it, I have no knowledge of the truth, nor do most of us.

However if I were permanently condemned and branded for life based on what I was doing in my early 20's I'd not have grown into the person I am today.

so therefore, I do not own a high horse like some of you.

Read the article and watch the videos or don't. Peyton doesn't need me to defend him.

Amazing how he still gets away with his image. But in today's day and age, I shouldn't really be surprised.

Jeff, I've read much of the articles on this. It was stupid, but it seems to me that she was "one of the guys" and he did some dumb locker room prank and she then tried to get a payday (as she has many other times). To say "molestation" is to stretch it beyond the evidence at the least.
I'm not going to get misty eyed over an ad to sell Gatorade

This is the same guy who turned a career defining moment into a Budweiser commercial. Lame.

Can't help but agree with this too. Not only did he do it once, but twice with help from that loser Jim Nantz.

I don't disagree with his idiotic shill for Bud either, but don't see how it's relevant to writing letters to the family of a kid who died of cancer or a cancer stricken morten anderson.

the letters are interesting to me, like I said in the OP, I didn't say they make Peyton Manning a saint, I didn't say he was saint or even a good person, I do think like I said this is probably even a campaign to rebuild his image, but I found them interesting that hed' do this.

and I said I believe he never intended any of them to become public and to me, not you or anyone else, to me, that speaks a lot about people's character. what you do and how you act when you know or believe no one is watching.
So logic is
feelflows : 4/28/2016 9:57 am : link
Because he was a shill for Budweiser his letters throughout the years are meaningless ?

No. Its great that he's reached out and I think anyone feels the same. Its ok to recognize the good someone does while also calling out their more ridiculous moments.

But now everyone is watching these letters used in a commercial for which I'm sure Peyton is making money. It's a lame move from a guy with a history of lame moves.

If you don't like the guy you don't like the guy, and a commercial won't change that. But I've never gone out of my way and touched people with a hand written letter. Have any of you? Seems like an awesome thing to do. In and of itself, it doesn't make you a special person,. But it is a special thing to do.

I'm not bashing him for the original assault. I'm bashing for his actions now including repeating his denial, refusing to apologize, and the character assination by him if the women which has an exponential effect of continuing to make it hard on women who go through this.

Btw, calling someone a judgemental bastard has a cute irony to it no?

Count me in, too. I was always a big Peyton guy. But his last few seasons, it started waning. I had had enough of his corporate devotions. And it was a little annoying seeing Archie popping in on so many Peyton TV commercials, too. ("Hey, Peyton! I'm just firin' up the grill!")
