Shocked so many are upset. Big time talent who has potential to be one of the best players in this draft. He was slated to go top 15 so 10th is not some Keanu Neal reach. People are not looking at how bad we need CB and how much this helps us. We now probably have the top 3 CBs in the league!
maybe picked him too high, I don't know for sure. But contrary to popular opinion, the Giants have hit on their last 3 1st round picks, all of whom were considered reaches by some
But I really think the Giants were outmaneuvered and lost out on the two guys they really wanted...Floyd and Conklin. That just shouldn't have happened.
How much are the Giants spending on corners this year?Reese needed to trade up to get the player who would make a difference this year or trade down and build quality thorough the roster. I guess his record with 3rd and 4th round selections is too strong to give them up for a potential all pro player.
just looked at some more highlights, he's very grabby but if you look at it he's grabby at the end of the route he's almost never beaten deep, looks very susceptible to the comeback route.
He's got all the tools but needs a lot of technique work
...and like most of our CBs, I bet he's gone after his rookie contract.
Nay.
I guess this is what happens when you blab to the media that you want Floyd or Conklin... two teams trade up right before you and grab who you want. Freakin' Cedric Jones all over again.
Most of BBI hated Conklin as he would be stuck at RT.
Hated Floyd because he might not be a fit.
And loved Jack who might have a ticking time bomb for a knee.
I don't follow how Apple is a bad pick or how the Giants were out maneuvered. They didn't offer enough to actually trade up or didn't try to trade up? Probably means they didn't value those other guys as much as other teams...
Tunsil is the only reason IMO people should be mad about this pick and everything around him has turned into a train wreck rather quickly.
Yay. He makes enormous sense for the Giants. Gruden had it right about him needing to close his blind spot faster. That's what gets him in trouble. It's analogous to a basketball player working without the ball and getting in the defender's bubble or blind spot. When they get that fixed , he will be their best corner. They can release DRC early.
Makes sense, too, because they are continuing to provide Spagnuolo with the players required for his system. Apple will play a lot of man under coverage. He will be light years better than Wade and the other assholes.
The Buckeyes have been my team since I was 10. One half a century ago. This was an incredible draft class that still has at least 4 future NFL starters yet to be drafted. Maybe 5. And Eli was right up there in the inner circle.
I don't like Reese. But he stayed on his board, didn't panic, and hog himself a helluva football player. My choices at 10 with the Tunail situation would have been Lee or Fuller, but Apple works just fine for me.
I don't watch much college ball so I don't have an opinion about his talents but I like the idea behind they Giants going after a 20 year old highly ranked CB.
and they have a lot of holes. However I also thought great value existed in the next few rounds. IE burns Williams, et al . Bottom line they could have addressed other needs and hit the DB's in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. They will likely still draft another DB as that is how thin this important position is on the giants
I think he has the potential to be thoroughly mediocre.
Yea
BBI scouts...bwahahaha

I'd be worried if he COULD cook, should be on the practice field instead of in the kitchen!
Nay.

Yeah. Absolutely.

At #10!?!?
I'd sooner Karl Joseph, even at #10.
