And CB was a good pick given what transpired before the Giants picked. He has size speed athletic talent. No
one thought Hargreaves was a bad pick but they thought he might be too short and slow. Problem solved.
RE: RE: None of them address the question of whether he was Â
Just like Flowers wasn't the 9th best player in the 2015 draft and Pugh wasn't the 19th best player in the 2013 draft...to be fair, Beckham is likely the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd best player from the 2014 draft. He likely is the only reason why Reese was still around to reach for the Apple tonight....
RE: RE: RE: None of them address the question of whether he was Â
I think it told them that taking safe players or "players with no negatives" was a much higher % play. The old timers on this board who remember George Young's drafts recognize this pick
RE: RE: RE: RE: None of them address the question of whether he was Â
Eli Apple, Ohio State (6’ 5/8”, 199lb’s, 31 3/8” arms, 4.40 speed, 7.00 3-cone, 4.08 SS) 20 year old RS sophomore entry from Voorhees, NJ.
Two year starter at RCB. Excels in press man coverage. Made huge strides in off-man coverage this past season, closing the cushion on receivers and playing far tighter on their breaks. Willing hitter in the run game. Doesn’t turn back consistently to play the ball but does a really good job fighting for it (21 career passes defensed including 4 INT’s). Doesn’t allow many completions (44.6% completion rate and a passer rating of 67.9 this past season). Will get a little grabby at times and draw flags on deeper routes if beaten but didn’t allow many completions longer than 20 yards and only gave up 1 TD all year. Has almost zero experience playing anywhere other than RCB so unlikely to be able to come straight in and play over the slot receiver. Hasn’t had to play a lot of zone. Allows way too much cushion when backed off or using the bail technique. Can be a sloppy tackler - missed 9 this season - and has been guilty of some bad whiffs when not breaking down properly. Doesn’t attack blockers. Will go a lot higher than most people seem to think as he’s one of the few top corners in this draft with good size as well as speed. Still developing and has a very high upside but will need some technique work to reach his potential. Ranks in my top 15 overall.

Klaatu - read just about all his off-season stuff - great write-ups. Does he actually live in England? Wow, - he knows more than I do - and I live in the states. Just saying - that I didn't realize American College Football would be that appealing (in that detail) to anyone in Europe.
Didn't I just read an article 4-5-6 (Wall Street Journal?) days ago about how it is always better to draft younger guys. Apple is 20 years old ... I hear Floyd was going to be 30 by September. ; )
Seems to be the Watson to his Holmes (in keeping with the English theme).
I think he does live in the UK, though, and people send him tapes of college games. He also had some kind of relationship with George Young back in the day. I guess through correspondence...it's not like they lived together or anything, lol.
RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: None of them address the question of whether he was Â
Exactly! Who was better and by better i mean 100% better not could maybe be better. For example Shaq Lawson may be better but that isn't a lock... name all the people that is rated so much higher and one better not be a CB because the Giants had their choice and took the guy they know way more about over all of them
Tunsil & H3.. Jack must have a serious issue as it played...
APPLE AT 10!?
Tunsil is a disaster... he has so many issues... Jack didnt get drafted in the first round at all by anyone, but you think we should have taken him at 10... hell we can trade up to the first pick in round 2 for way cheaper than pick 10. HG3 is 5'10 and runs 4.5... i like him but he has issues besides those facts. He had bad games and gave up a good QB rating against this year. Eli Apple allowed 44% completion against with only 1 TD. He is bigger, faster, and younger with more upside. The fact that you think and really everyone who is complaining wasnt worth pick 10 is crazy. Especially when you offer up Jack who hasn't been drafted, a CB who they thought wasn't as good, and an OT that has more red flags than Will Hill!

Reese's act is just getting old
Spoiler alert: He was not.

I do. Kid fits scheme wise. Need wise. And rarely do the Giants really go BPA. Total myth.
Who gives a flying eff ... I don't understand you guys who claim to know the exact "true" value of a player at this point in their pro career ....
"We paid $10.50 ... we should have only paid $9.75 ... Reese is an idiot"
