Sure we might have taken Floyd if he was still available, but I think it was all a bluff. We were baiting people to over draft him, so we could get our guy. Apple was probably the pick all along.
Eli Apple may turn out to be a very good corner but I don't think anyone had him rated that high. When things started to break down around them they just sat there and kept their fingers crossed. To me this pick was more like an oh shit what do we do now pick. But hey, he may turn out to be another Revis.
issue ended the chance of getting Staley or Conklin.
This. The moment that picture of Tunsil came out and dropped him in the draft, the Giants were left with a guy they didn't want and couldn't risk. It was a modern day version of the Lawrence Phillips mess. Hopefully Apple is better than Cedric Jones, or at least if he's blind in one eye, the Giants figured it out before the pick.
The Giants showed no initiative as teams started wheeling and dealing. They could have traded with the Browns. Move up a couple of spots to give themselves more leeway. They had to know once Stanley was picked first everything was moved up a tick. No, they just sat there and kept their fingers and toes crossed.

And you kow this how? In order to trade up/down you need a willing trade partner.
I'm not sure who was on the top of their board but we can see that Apple was high on it. Why is everyone going on about a trade up its not in the Giants DNA in the first round except for Eli I wanted Apple with Elliott and Stanley gone goad to get him. If you think Apple was a reach then if we took the third rated tackle which would have cost additional picks to get a guy rated outside the top ten and a RT not LT which would be the bigger reach. As yourself who is the better player Apple or a decent RT he is not a great OT by a mile.

Reese hopefully learned from 2012 not take specialists who don't fit the scheme in round 1.
Assuming we bluffed, I think Conklin might have been our target.
Another draft that didn't fall our way.
