Dr. James Andrews, who examined Myles Jack in December, told the UCLA LB today that he does not need micro-fracture surgery.
Trade up and draft the man. Reward greatly outweighs the risk at this point.
Why is this being reported as new news? It is not like Andrews sat on the information for 4 months.
You mean like last year?
Exactly. What about the future?
Actually, I heard Mayock say earlier on NFLN that some teams thought Jack needed the microfracture surgery now (or at least might need it).
Not to be snarky to you, because I've seen other people post it, but he did not injure his MCL.
The only thing the lateral meniscus (which he did tear) and the medial collateral ligament (MCL) have in common is that "meniscus" and "medial" begin with the letters "me".
yesterday, Jack said he didn't know if he would need it.
without another examination, what changed?
this is Jack from yesterday:
Exactly. The report by Shefter was that Jacks doesn't need surgery now. As to the future, it's possible.
That is correct
Why on earth did his agent not comb the earth for info like this? You'd think Dr. Andrews would be call #1 if he saw him 4 months ago.
Westbrook's bone and cartilage haven't begun to separate like Jack's has.
If or when the bone and cartilage fully separate, Jack will need to undergo another procedure and it will keep him out for a prolonged period of time. One possibility is microfracture surgery, though there are other options that teams have discussed

As others pointed out, this would be a follow-up to Jack's recent moment of honest admission.

the fear is that with the wear and tear of an NFL linebacker, he's one hit, or several years, away from needing it.

Fair enough. Most of what I've read said this is a down the road thing/ticking time bomb.
Myles Jack does not need microfracture surgery NOW, but may need it if the cartilage continues to separate from the bone.

True. The Collins move up didn't happen last year. Similar to the faked moon landing

We've seen the result. Kinda tough to take a risk. Smith makes more sense.
Remember that little shed the Skins set up during the playoff game to have Dr. Andrews examine Bob's knee- and how he let Bob play even after he re-injured it.
Sometimes we have to accept that Dr. Andrews interests do not coincide with that of the team doctors. The team doctors have their ties and job with the team on the line- if Dr. Andrew's misses the call, it doesn't impact him much- see how he escaped blame or ruin after Bob's fail.
