Tony Pauline: Giants targeting FS and OT on day 2

jeff57 : 4/29/2016 4:33 pm
Mentions T.J. Green.

Hopefully
Jay on the Island : 4/29/2016 4:34 pm : link
they work out a trade for Anthony Davis and use their 2nd round picks on a S, LB, WR, DE, or DT.
sorry meant

2nd day picks.
Help me out here.

TJ Green or Vonn Bell and why?
Which
AcidTest : 4/29/2016 4:36 pm : link
pretty much guarantees we won’t be taking those positions.
...
BleedBlue : 4/29/2016 4:37 pm : link
vonn bell WAY before tj green altho i like tj greens coverage ability

that being said i think giants IF they do pass on jack assuming he is there should go WR, shepard, mike thomas and boyd will all be there so they will have their choice. i think any of the three would be a good pick...
I don't think they're going FS in the second
Rflairr : 4/29/2016 4:37 pm : link
I think they're higher on Bennett Jackson and Berhe than people think
That means we are taking a DL
Vanzetti : 4/29/2016 4:38 pm : link
Has there ever been anyone worse than Tony Pauline?
I had heard that some teams were looking at TJ Green
bigblue12 : 4/29/2016 4:38 pm : link
as a press corner in the back of round 1. Played safety in college.
I also would like to see them work something out with the 49ers for
bigblue12 : 4/29/2016 4:38 pm : link
Davis to free up the rest of the picks on other needs.
I don't know....
Milton : 4/29/2016 4:39 pm : link
After going CB in round one, I'd be surprised if they picked another guy for the secondary on day 2.

I think the positions in play for day 2 are OL, WR, and pass-rusher. I guess TE, too, if it's a pass-catcher like Hunter Henry.

TJ Green is a Giants type pick. He has height, speed, and weight. All the measurables they long.

6'2 who ran a 4.3 40 time. This sounds like 100% a Jerry Reese pick.
TJ Green
Giantfootball025 : 4/29/2016 4:40 pm : link
isn't a second round player imo. Prob not even a 3rd rounder. He has size and speed but so do a lot of players.
And I'll add DT to the mix...
Milton : 4/29/2016 4:40 pm : link
...not because it's a need, but because the value with the 40th pick could be too good to pass up (i.e., Jarren Reed).
Sounds crazy
bigblue12 : 4/29/2016 4:42 pm : link
but how about doubling up on corner and taking Alexander. Having Jenkins, Apple & Alexander for the next 4-5 years is pretty good. Not to mention DRC. This team has a lot of needs though.

Jerry has never cared about that though. If he is tops on there board they will pick him at 40 because Jerry loves his measurables

Green is seen by many teams as a possible corner. Man cover ability. Can really blitz. Negatives are that he only has one year as a starter, and had a lot of deep coverage responsibilities from what I saw. That limits his experience with underneath coverages. He is also a converted WR. I’m always a little worried about guys who switch positions in college. He also tends to tackle with his shoulder instead of wrapping up. I agree that he’s a classic Reese guy. If he can cover TEs then he’s worth the pick IMO. But he might be gone by #40.

I agree, but this is why we are in this mess. Reese misses on to many of these project picks in the later part of the draft. We try to find to many diamonds in the rough and end up with nothing to show for it.
I easily see Green over Bell on the giants big board
mphbullet36 : 4/29/2016 4:51 pm : link
you have one guy that is 5'11 that ran a +4.5 40

on the other hand green is 6'2 that ran close to a 4.3 40. He is a converted WR so he has good hands and a lot of speed/quickness.

Bell is the more polished player for sure but where did we hear that before. Giants went Apple over VH because of measurables and predictability if they are picking safety why would that be any different?
Sean Davis!

Conversation went a little like this:
NorwoodWideRight : 4/29/2016 4:54 pm : link
Ross: "Damn, everybody's onto us, J.R! How do we go about drafting someone in the 2nd without teams falling all over themselves to get ahead of us because we're so transparent?"

J.R: "I know! We'll leak info that we're interested in players that won't fill the gaping holes in our roster!"

Ross: "Pure genius, J.R., pure genius."

J.R: "I know, right?"

There are a lot of 6'2 210lb players that run a 4.3? News to me.

yeah that is just a silly comment. There aren't many at all projectable FS that are 6'2 that run 4.3.

That is actually very rare.

who cares if thats rare go with a guy with production...dont reach just because he has measurables....there are plenty of guys who look the part who suck ass...
sorry but green is a reach over bell idc what his weight and height is measurables dont always lead to good football
im not suggesting I would pick Green
mphbullet36 : 4/29/2016 5:04 pm : link
I'm suggesting he is the type of prospect Jerry Reese drools over.

Reese will almost always go with projection over performance.

gotcha yea no i wasnt saying anything about your opinion i understand reese gets boners for these guys and its the reason we have jack shit from like every reese draft...

is probably the target in the 2nd. Didn't someone report that they were very high on him and think he can play RT in the NFL? He is very versatile which we know the Giants love in their offensive linemen.
Myles Jack

Giants trade up.
The strength for the no. 40 pick
Chris L. : 4/29/2016 5:56 pm : link
in terms of BPA will be DL. I can see us picking an O Lineman because Jerry has left a huge void on the line at OT (bad job in free agency) and now he will feel compelled to draft an OL out of need and what he needs for this coming season rather than doing what you are suppose to do with premium draft picks and that is to draft for the long term which means BPA. I am hoping we pick BPA which would be DL or LB based on what is left after the first round. I am not at all confident this will happen.
Green is going in the 2nd
LakeGeorgeGiant : 4/29/2016 5:59 pm : link
I'd take him in the 3rd but someone is going to grab him early for measurables. It might be Reese. Especially if the view him as their FS with the ability to slide to CB.
everybody keeping an eye of twitter?

I think you took that to literally. I don't mean there are guys the exact same size and speed. I mean every year there are tons of players who have the size and speed to play in the NFL. That doesn't mean they are 2nd round picks.

I honestly wouldn't be opposed to it. Obviously wouldn't be my first choice but that would set us up nicely this year and for the future.
