Fourth year junior. Teams leading rusher in the 2014 and 2015 seasons respectively despite battling a nagging knee injury this past fall. Perkins may not have the body or running style to be an every down back, but his ability to make something out of nothing cannot go overlooked. He has the rare, hard to find ability to completely change direction while moving at full speed at anytime. His top end speed and lack of size may limit his touches week in, week out however he is a prime candidate for a committee approach. If he can find an offense that needs someone to offset a between the tackles, chain moving bruiser, Perkins will excel. I have a higher grade on Perkins than what I see out there. He has the kind of talent that can change how an offense approaches thing, which ended up happening at UCLA after 2013. Perkins may not have the ideal situation here in NY because of Vereens presence, but NYG hasnt had a back that can move in and out of traffic like this since the early days of Tiki Barber. He may not be the ideal every down guy, but he is a dangerous playmaker that defenses are afraid to see with the ball in space.
Andre Williams is terrible and not a fit at all for the offensive line scheme we plan to modify now. Darkwa and Jennings are always nicked up and Jennings isn't exactly young for a RB.
Perfectly fine. Have a feeling we will get a solid grade from Sy this year on our draft. Lot of guys he liked in Shepard, Goodson, Perkins and he was emphatic on the Giants possibly liking Apple. Great job this year.
Are Darkwa, Rainey, and Williams irreplaceable? I hope next years RB's are Jennings, Vereen, and Perkins if they go with three and Darkwa if they go with 4.
This guy is real good. I watched a few UCLA games and he was a player that you noticed, he is a battler, makes yards after contact, he is a good blocker and receiver also. This is a great pick, you can't fill holes with garbage, so why not take a player, this guy will make the team, good bye Williams and Darkwa.
I wouldn't know the guy if I passed him on the street, but awful pick. I saw a bunch of better players a few weeks ago when I looked on youtube for 10 minutes. I know sy and everyone else who actually scouted him with proper techniques like him, but the youtube tape don't lie. Fire Reese now before it's too late.
with Sy. Love this guy. Very shifty with excellent jump cut ability. Really makes tacklers miss. His shiftiness reminds me of Sterling Shepard. Excellent vision. Very good hands. Willing blocker. No second gear to run away from anyone, needs to get stronger, and is not a short yardage back.
5th round is a good spot to try and find some gems and pick a RB. Newsflash, our backfield isn't that good. Competition is good, it's not like we have guys that have carved out a niche role outside of Jennings and Vereen. Darkwa is promising, and Andre Williams really struggled last year.
Value is there but with so many holes to fill why RB? Maybe value was too good to pass up here.

Upside Pro Comparison: Lesean McCoy BUF
Some positions on this team get max competition, some get handed the job.
we'll be stoned on 3rd and short again and picking 10th again
hopefully with a new GM
But adambear just said it was an awful pick.
Who to believe... ?!??

At this point in draft its more value than need,

If you love him, I love him. Thanks Sy. i hope we can now get rid of the baggage we have at RB.

I agree NYG needs an upgrade. But I don't think you are getting it here...not in terms of a starter anyway.
Paul Perkins had the best elusive rating (forced miss tackles+YAC per attempt) of any RB, even Zeke! #giants finally go BPA. #GiantsDraft

I don't see any pick who is better right now and earlier in the draft the value was not there
yep. Watched him every game for 3 years he he can start for the Giants RIGHT NOW.
#Giants 5th round RB Paul Perkins: "I can't even put this into words right now, so I'm sorry, I'm speechless."
You're right. Let's take a lesser player because he plays a position you want them to take. Just stop.
reese is a clown, stop making excuses for him
