Does the drafting of Perkins, Sterling & Adams signify

BlueRyder : 5/1/2016 2:35 pm
a downscaling of Coughlin's adherence to the power running game?

McAdoo has replaced Coughlin's influence in the draft process and the Giants immediately draft an elusive all-purpose RB, replace a "procession" with a very quick WR, and actually draft a talented and fast TE. Just guessing there will be less, and less predictable running, and more screens, draws and quick short passes. The days of keeping the number of run and pass plays equal during a game may be over.

the Giants drafted Hakeem Nicks, Ramses Barden, Andre Brown (a running back who could catch) and Travis Beckum ( a run and catch TE). Didn't all work out, but all at least had some moments, and Coughlin was the coach.
Draft Roulette & Player Development

The draft signifies that team scouting feels that all the players picked have "potential" in some form or other. Whether that potential is ever realized goes hand in hand with the coaching those players receive post draft. I think the Giants did the right thing in turning over the coaching staff. There were too many drafted players that never seemed to improve. I like McAdoo and I think he has changed things around because things were getting stale under TC. Eli Apple impressed the hell out of me at the combine. I liked everything I saw from him & in my books he's going to be way better than Hargreaves.
at least with Shepard and Perkins

you're seeing them pick prospects who were precision performers at their positions at big college programs, with high football IQ, football instincts, and strong work ethics.

Contrasted with upside gambles with consistent question marks such as Randle, Barden, Jernigan, etc.

Which season Tom Coughlin adhered to a power running game?

The answer is never. He's always believed in a vertical passing attack.
.

Actually in 2007-08, they were more of that.
They were a top 5 one year, top 10 the other.
If you recall, both Jacobs and Ward rushed for more than
1,000 yards in 2008.

Nah. Just calling out complete horseshit tonight.

First the "tape" guy. Now your nonsense.

Basically you are saying, I'm an 'internet tough guy'.
Stay classy 'bro.

Btw, good thing the mods deleted your trash. You would have taken even more of a beating than you usually take.

Though, I'm not so sure about your mod deletion claim.

You use might be trying to hide a bit there, radar.

Fuckin hell. You're a horrible contributor here.

Not really sure why it was so awful. It was just asking people to forecast the success of the pics given that all are not likely to succeed.

But by all means continue to get disproportionately fired up about inconsequential things.

Randle and Jernigan were considered highly productive and pro ready though. Two of the most mind-numbing busts in recent history. They were not risky picks. They were picks the draft books loved.

Pro ready doesn't feel accurate to me but I don't remember for certain. What I saw at training camp was two very raw unpolished non-premium talents on the practice field. They also weren't IA program talents.
Woops, thought you wrote Barden not Randle

Reading too fast. Randle, yeah I recall reading pro ready but damn I didn't see it when he hit the field, especially not with live bullets flying.
the players have

let that cap slip outta the bag a couple of times if you've been listening.....

moving to a zone - again just like Mike McCarthy who McAdoo emulates in every conceivable way, right down to the practice and sideline attire

solari is another clue - he's coached a power scheme but he's a zone blocking specialist and it's what he believes in

If you watch Shepard it might make more sense what I'm driving at, he's surgical with his routes, footwork, fakes, the attention to detail and trying to beat the man in front of him. I'd wager he'll wind up a film junkie breaking down his opponents.

Never saw that from Randle or Jernigan, they couldn't routes the same way twice, or fight for passes in traffic, or consistently show up in games on a weekly basis.
to the OP and the rest of the sublte TC slighters
Thegratefulhead : 5/2/2016 2:54 pm : link
Yes it might be over, and we all might end up really fucking sad that it has. Look, I am hopeful and optimistic about the upcoming season. Can we do that without shitting on TC? I mean the guy did win 2 Superbowls against what many people believe might be the greatest coach, QB and team of all time. I am not going out on limb when I say it is highly unlikely that McAdoo is going to be better than TC. How many Pro Football coaches have amassed a better resume during your lifetime.....Not many.

I hope for the best. He isn't a player I know anything about.
