King MMQB: The Cowboys were elated after picking Ezekiel Elliott and Jaylon Smith, but owner Jerry Jones was left lamenting the one that got away. Plus more on the event in Chicago, including how the Ravens foiled the Pats
"8. I think I am (quietly) rooting for Oklahoma wide receiver Sterling Shepard, the Giants’ second-round pick. What a touching story. His dad, former Oklahoma receiver Derrick Shepard, died of a heart attack when Sterling was 6; Sooners coach Bob Stoops gave one of the eulogies at Derrick Shepard’s funeral, and was recruiting Sterling 11 years later. Stoops is a hero here—he made little Shepard a fixture around the program and on the sidelines during Sooners games, and the players became big brothers as Sterling grew. Now Sterling Shepard will have a chance to join Odell Beckham Jr. and perhaps Victor Cruz to form potentially one of the best receiving groups in football. No receiver has better hands than Beckham, but Shepard’s are really good."

http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/nfl-draft-has-become-a-three-ring-circus-b99715636z1-377760571.html

Prisco CBS Sports: Here you go. Eat them alive. Draft grades.

"Best pick: I love second-round pick Sterling Shepard. The receiver out of Oklahoma comes in and immediately gives them another complement to Odell Beckham Jr.
Questionable move: Taking corner Eli Apple in the first round. He's a good player, but why not a linebacker? Taking a third corner is a luxury. They have Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Janoris Jenkins.

Third-day gem: Fifth-round pick Paul Perkins is a perfect back for the game the way it's played today. He has wiggle, can catch the ball out of the backfield and will help amp up a running game that needs it.

Analysis: Even though I didn't love the Apple pick, Jerry Reese bounced back with some nice selections later. I liked Perkins and also linebacker B.J. Goodson in the fourth round. It was a nice weekend for the Giants.

Grade: B"

"New York Giants
The Giants focused initially on defense even after spending huge money in free agency on that side of the football. Considering how bad the defense was last season, especially at the end of games, it’s understandable. But taking CB Eli Apple 10th overall might have been a bit of a stretch. Second-round WR Sterling Shepard could have an impact. Grade: B"

Darrion Lee would have been an actual monster reach at 10.
What linebacker was there to take.
I think CB Deayon
is going to make the team as the 4th or 5th CB. He seems like a perfect slot corner.

I am pretty sure he wanted Lee to be the pick. That is fine if he wanted Lee to be the pick but shows his ignorance and stupidity when he says Apple was a luxury pick. Are you fucking kidding me? Teams are in sub-packages roughly 65% of the time. Also, if one of our top two corners gets injured then who is playing? These stupid assholes have no clue and get paid good money to provide nothing of substance at their job.

HammermanUConnBlog: UConn Football Undrafted Free Agent Pickups
"Andrew Adams and Junior Lee, S, Giants - Both Adams and Lee are going to New York, and each has a chance to make the team for different reasons. Lee is a gunner who may be able to find a spot as a special teamer, while Adams can serve as a rotational third or fourth option in this defense. Adams also may get a look at cornerback since he has versatility to play there and it is a need for New York.
The Giants are thin at safety, as only third round pick Darian Thompson and last year's second round pick Landon Collins have guaranteed spots. Cooper Taylor is a solid special teamer, and Nat Berhe has only been around for three seasons, but either could be cut if Adams or Lee flash.

Adams' biggest mark is probably Berhe, and I think if he outperforms him, he has a shot to sneak onto the 53 man roster. Lee will need to make his impact felt on special teams to have a shot. At the end of the day, though, one or both should find a spot on the Giants practice squad even if they do get cut.

Kenton Adeyemi, EDGE/DT, Giants - Adeyemi also chose to join the Giants after courting multiple offers and figures to play both defensive end and defensive tackle in practices with the team. Adeyemi has strong hands at the point of attack and the flexibility to potentially do JUST enough to make this team.

The Giants are stacked at defensive tackle, but there may be some opportunities for a run stopping defensive end to stick with them. Adeyemi's greatest rival may be a player who also was signed as a UDFA - Romeo Okwara from Notre Dame.
